Greetings and salutations from a wind blasted Aberdeenshire. I knew yesterday's sunshine was too good to last and I have had to chase after bins and flower pots for most of the day. Think I'll award myself the order of the gin and tonic.

Marydoll we are south of the fire in Northern California, we live near San Jose. But we will try and stay indoors today as much as possible, it’s very unhealthy out there right now.

It's afternoon by the time I get my daily e-mail from Gransnet.

Here in the very south of Denmark the weather is very mild, the day started with mist at 7 a.m. which cleared up about 8 with brilliant sunshine. I started off on my three-quarter mile walk to the nearest town in Germany to do some shopping and it was raining by the time I got home around midday. Rained persistently all afternoon.

I should have been warned that the sunshine wasn't going to last as the cat brought a mouse in at quarter to eight and has remained indoors ever since.

Artols, that is an awful situation. Are you in California? We were watching the news at lunchtime and saw the terrible wildfires there. All those poor people losing their homes.

The air is thick with smoke here from the fire raging north of us. The sun is blood red, and even with all the windows closed the house smells of smoke. We are quite safe here, but so many people are in danger.

Am: took elderly mum out for a country pub lunch, very sunny in Sussex with autumn leaves looking amazing. Just now driven up to Kent to look after 2 grandsons overnight, so a busy weekend ahead as am seeing 2 granddaughters tomorrow too .... have a good one everybody.

Hoping to go by train and visit friends up country for the weekend. High tides at Dawlish have put a stop to that

Power of positive thinking is my addiction. Today's success is being able to open the long-jammed sliding doors of a cupboard. Sound trivial? Don't you believe it. I'll be floating on this one for a while. Mind you, next job is to clear out then refurbish the inside which I don't dare reveal to anyone. My thanks go to WD40 over the weeks, a ruler-like metal prizer-opener, the energy to wield it and finally a hammer hitting the offending doors over a teatowel. We have lift off! Isn't it amazing what can give us a buzz.

I can echo NanKate that it is still grey and cool in South Bucks but the DH and I have been for a lovely autumn walk round our village in which we encountered some drops of rain and some sporadic sunshine too. The trees in Leafy Bucks are incredible with their autumn palette of greens, yellows, oranges, golds, reds and bronzes. Our walk yesterday along the riverbank at Marlow saw these same colours all reflected in the glassy river. Truly spectacular.

Rather grey and dull here, but dry for the moment. Expecting strongish winds and rain this evening if the forecast proves correct.
A few household chores to do, then a walk outside to clear the cobwebs!
Had a busy day yesterday defrosting the small fridge which took hours. (Note to self - don't let the ice build up as much before defrosting next time)! ?
Then tackled wardrobes and cleared out a lot of stuff not worn for years to give to cancer research on Monday. Also put all the summer stuff away. Feel quite pleased with myself. It was a job I'd been intending to tackle for some time.

Good morning Mick, Annie and everyone from a dry but dull Birmingham. I’ve picked up my one year old grandson and he’s happily reading while I have a cup of tea. I hope it keeps dry so we can have our usual walk in the park today. I looked after my two year old granddaughter yesterday, and we only had a short walk. We ended up sitting on the balcony, eating biscuits and watching the rain, which she really enjoyed!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Bore da, Annie. It is dry but not particularly bright in South Yorkshire. I had an awful night and feel washed out, but we are going out for a walk today as we both need some exercise. DH is going to watch our local football derby this evening and the weather will be awful for the drive back, so I wish he wasn’t going. Have a good day folks.

Marydoll, no more kitchen stories, but in a good way. Is all OK with the electrics now?
I am now 2/3 of the way through my treatment after today. It has gone surprisingly quickly.
New next door neighbour is coming in for a cuppa later on. She is expexting a baby next month. It is so lovely to have new babies in the road, and we have twins across the way!

I now need to get moving and loosen up my back.

Good morning from a a yet again windy and rainy Glasgow.
Feeling pretty rough this morning after a particularly painful night with my hands. I cannot have any more treatment for present as it will affect the nerve conduction tests next week, so I just need to grin and bear it. ?
I will have to drag DH to LIDL, as I won't be able to carry anything. He will probably pick up all sorts of items we don't need.
The electrician came yesterday and the kitchen is finished at last. You will all be relieved that I won't be boring you any more.

Good Morning all and to those who follow, bright here in Fife today, looks nice at the moment. Off to our garden centre today to buy all our Christmas Cards, crackers etc they have 20% off all weekend so will take advantage.
