Never ever do this!

I'm with PECS on this one. My brows are now white/blonde. I just ignore them and keep my fringe long. A long fringe is low maintenance and frames the eyes better than brows. I do wonder where you all find the time, money and fortitude to put yourselves through these treatments regularly. #Ouch

My eyebrows have bare patches ! I simply hate trying to fill them in to give a natural look and would love to go in for tattooing but am sh-t scared of looking like in permanent shock . Any advice pls.

I mentioned to mt beauty lady that I was thinking of tattoo on my brows but she said she had it done and it hurt like hell and never again. So back to waxing and colour

My 15 year old granddaughter threads my lip and chin using ordinary cotton! She just watched a beautician do it and worked out how to do it. Saves me a few pounds and I know she’s honest about when I need it.

My skin around my eyebrows seems to be paper thin. I had my eyebrows waxed, the lady ripped a piece of skin off! My that was painful.
A few years ago, several years after the waxing incident, I had them threaded, exactly the same thing happened!
I'm not a hirsute lady, I will just pluck the odd stray one in future!!
I had never considered having my menopausal facial down threaded, and I will make a point of never bothering now!!

It appears that many 'older' ladies suffer from excessive facial hair. Is it hormone related? Does HRT play a part? There must be some reason as to why many of you have to resort to top lip, chin, sides of face waxing.
Personally, I think that eyebrow tattooing looks obvious. The wand with the tiny comb looks as if it gives more realistic results.
Thank goodness I don't need any of that.

This thread has been quite enlightening in so many ways! A thread about threads. I have never had anything done to my eyebrows and have wondered what 'threading' actually meant. I had some idea that it involved a sort of braiding or dread locking eyebrows (!!!!) so the images I had of having it done all over your whole face were quite bizarre.

I do love an occasional facial and massage, especially as a gift, but some of the treatments described sound more like a torture chamber of horrors rather than beauty treatments. Thank you for the explanations. ?

I also tried threading of face once only. The girl told me that it wouldn't be so painful next time, but I didn't take the chance.

I am blessed/cursed with very obvious eyebrows, which seem to be utterly resistant to the aging process

Even with a pretty strong magnifying mirror (which, by the way just seems to highlight all the facial hairs) plucking is still rather hit and miss, so I do get them waxed, plus any other bits (chin & lip etc) that need doing.

However, I do indulge in the odd plucking session for the bristles once I can feel them, and ashamed to admit putting a sort of facial hair shaver over my face when I feel it's all too much.

They might look fine to you, but what about people that are looking at them.

Can someone please explain to me why threading is better, more effective, longer lasting or whatever, than tweezing? If the thread is pulling the hair out by the root, then isn't that exactly the same as tweezing it out? Or waxing for that matter. Surely they all do the same thing?

The hairs on my arms and eyebrows are fair so you can hardly see them but my eyelashes are dark. Weird.

Ooh - I have alopecia universalis and wish I had this problem.

I once had my eyebrows threaded. I was visiting my sister and could be pretty sure no one who knew me would see me sitting in Debenhams having it done.

My problem is that the hairs grew back coarser and since then my eyebrows are rather ‘unruly’ and I need to trim them. I always had quite nice eyebrows up until then and only ever needed to pluck a few stray hairs from underneath to keep them tidy.

I stick to having an eyebrow wax and trim about every two months, and if necessary I wax my upper lip myself very occasionally. After reading your account Cambia I don’t think I’ll bother with threading.

When I went back to my GP & mentioned my depleted eyebrows it was he that suggested the spray could have caused the loss! I had thick dark eyebrows..in fact as,a teen I despaired at my monobrow across my forehead. I have about 20 eyebrow hairs now! I use a pencil..not sure about tatooing them on..I just have a long fringe

No one has mentioned sugaring which, I like better than using hot wax. It is less painful than waxing as the sugar paste is not hot so an area can be gone over more than once, if necessary. It is an ancient Arabic practice. The skin is left very soft as it exfoliates at the same time and regrowth weakens over time.

I've never tried threading. I did have my eyebrows waxed once and I couldn't bear it so I just pluck any stray hairs myself. I wax my own body hair and have done so for years and don't find underarm or legs painful any longer but bikini line never gets any better!

I have stray eyebrow hairs plucked once a month (prefer this to threading) and my eyebrows shaped and tinted, and when that wears off I pencil them very lightly. I really do think that shapely brows with a bit of colour make a huge difference to an elderly face!

I have my eyebrows and face waxed about every 5 weeks have done for years. I just tell her to wax anything that shouldn't be there. I am also going to have my brows coloured at the end of the month so I was happy to read Rosina's post that she had undertaken it and was happy with the colouring. I did have m brows threaded just once and never again.

I have a tweezerman gadget called smooth finish, which consists of a metal coil bent into a U shape and handles which you twist while moving it down your cheeks etc. It traps fine hairs in the coil. It is the same principle as threading, but probably less efficient and just as painful!

I've had mine threaded a few times as plucking always sets me off on a mammoth sneezing session.
However, since buying an epilator I now do my facial peach fuzz and tidy my brows myself. Fine blonde hairs so easily dealt with and the effect lasts ages.

I have eyebrows, upper lip and chin waxed every 6 weeks. It stings a bit at the time, but my miracle worker (beautician) puts aloe vera on all treated places and there is no pain at all.

Thank you Candelle I knew they did it with eyebrows, but wasn't aware they could do it elsewhere!
