Not regifting, but my sister has returned to me gifts I’ve given her that she didn’t want. The first time it was a pair of earrings that retailers don’t accept back for a refund, but this time they did, fortunately.
I’m beyond feeling hurt by it.

No but a Christmas present I bought a family member was given to my eldest son the following Christmas

My whole family seems to be changing over to soap, Maw. Which will prove expensive for me as I've always preferred lovely bars of soap to handwash and shower gel and they all used to pass any they were given on to me!

They're all trying out shampoo bars as well.

In the interests of reducing plastic waste Doodle maybe you should reconsider that.
I am in the process of changing all the handwash bottles in the house with lovely soap (l’Occitne) and will do the same in the shower when this shower gel is finished.

I do re gift a little but mostly unwanted gifts go to the local charity shop. One friend gives us beautiful boxes of soaps but I haven't the heart to tell her we don't use soap (hasten to add we do wash but use shower gels and hand wash .

My dad's birthday was just after Christmas, and he reckoned most of his gifts were unwanted presents. Some of the donors wouldn't even re-wrap them, just stick a new bit of sellotape onto the festive wrap (yes, I'm looking at you here, Auntie Emily ).

None of them would have been presents he'd given, though, as my mother was in sole charge of all that.

I haven’t, but thinking back I might get over feeling hurt as I always choose things I like and would rather have them back than think of them languishing in a drawer or finishing up at the charity shop!
Some of you may remember the saga of the “lariat” style pendant which I gave a friend for her 70th birthday. I dithered about keeping it for myself and was a little saddened by a very lukewarm “oh thanks”.

A friend of mine used to receive from her MiL every single year an old-lady type nightie, which she knew for a fact the MiL had received from someone else the previous year.

We always used to open presents carefully and recycle wrapping paper when I was growing up. We would even iron it! I used to love getting it all out again each year - all carefully folded in a box. There was a faint Christmassy smell to it which I never notice in wrapping paper now, but maybe that's my ageing sense of smell.

One of my Dds was given for Christmas , ( by an ex boyfriends parents) the socks and eye mask they had been given free on a flight.

Never re-gift but I do reuse gift bags, seems silly to buy new each time just to transport gift from A to B.

Oh dear. I confess I’m a regifter, but only of really nice things that I know I won’t use and genuinely think the person will like. I have a spreadsheet to keep track of what I’ve received and what I’ve given, so I do hope I never make this mistake!

I re-use gift bags too. And the ones that the rest of the family casually toss in the rubbish bag on Christmas Day. I hate waste and recycle whenever possible.

I have a friend who has everything so I find it difficult buying for her. I bought her toiletries one year and I received them for Christmas the next, telling me she had too much. Fine by me, I only buy items I would like myself!

Late SIL never spent on anything and at Christmas would return our card with her signature which we then sent back to her every Christmas and so it went on until her death.
Well it is the thought that counts.

bohemiam good idea with the wrapping paper. See how long you can keep it going. We do something similar with gift bags.
Not bought by me but I was given some talc by my husbands auntie and when I showed MiL she said she had been the giver of the talc to auntie.

Oh recycled paper is quite o fey lol we in the family have a gift bag with spots on each time we pass it round we write a the date in one of the spots.

Yes. I gave a friend a bottle of perfume she said she liked and the next year I got it back and it had 'gone off'. The other thing that seems to do the rounds is the sheet of Christmas wrapping paper I used 3/4 years ago, it was used to wrap a gift to me last year, it's being recycled through the family, creases 'n' all (I recognise it as it's very unusual)
