Does anyone else find it hard to go out in the evening as you get older. especially on these cold wet winter evenings.
I go to play cards every week and looking out the window i thought do I really want to leave my nice warm home for a drafty church hall smile
I will make myself go as i know i will have a good evening with the others who make the effort to turn up, hopefully!!!

I had been sleeping every night again up till a week ago...these periods seem to come and go..someone said I'm sleeping to much one night anything between 10/12hrs then on the alternate night 3/4 when it happens..this is the third time my sleep cycle has been like this 5 mths longest it lasted two weeks and then I'm back sleeping 6/7 hrs a night..makes me feel anxious when it happens as I don't want the all nighters again..I have been through a lot and had a health scare at beginning of the year which seemed to trigger the insomnia off..then everything else that happened..I feel ok..need to get my life back..just adjusting to changes xxx

Chrissie2222 I'm not surprised you can't sleep after all the involvements. Your body must be like a coiled spring and because your sleep pattern is erratic you won't function the same.
It takes time for the body to get back to normal and the more you fight against the fact that you can't sleep the worse you'll be.
I do feel for you x

Oh that is very difficult, isn't it?
I've been (and still am, really) in the same boat.

Thank you .I don't feel depressed..probably was a couple of mths ago..just sad..it's my sleep that's annoying me .keeps coming and going .just need to find myself again after looking after everyone and dealing with a lot of changes ☺️

Welcome Chrissie. Catch up soon.

MissAdventure Sun 04-Nov-18 10:59:02

Hi Chrissie.
You could start a new thread outlining your problems, or there is one called the black dog gang which deals with depression.
You may get more input then. smile

Thank you Dorcas, how wonderful those words, excellent.

Hi new here..any help on this one .this past year I've suffered terrible anxiety accompanied by crippling insomnia to the point I was awake alternate nights...during the summer my sleep returned every night until the alternate nights returned for a couple of weeks..I'm talking being awake 36 hrs then sleeping twelve..for the last five weeks sleep returned every night once again until this week...I'm sleeping ten hrs one night then 3 the next..does anyone else experience problems like this .I've been drs but refused sleeping tablets..just hope it's not going to be a regular occurrence...I have a daughter with autism and tourettes who I worry about and this year two family deaths.. a separation from my partner whom I am now reunited with and my little grandson and his mum moved out after living here for 3 years..I really miss them living here but they have there own place now..it almost felt like a bereavement to me especially after losing two of my own children a few years ago..I feel a bit lost lonely and sad even though I have people around me..sorry to ramble and thanks for listening

Purplepoppies, join the few of us doing things from the November Calendar (see above and there is a separate thread for it as well), it may spur you on, I am trying to avoid hibernation and being a couch potato, do you fancy it? All the best, Katey x

I have stopped wanting to go out at all..... nothing to do dark or cold.

There’s a quiz night tonight in town. It’s 250 yards walk. We intend to go, but chances are, once we’ve sat down in front of the telly, we’ll be stuck there and won’t go. Inertia is a terrible thing. Almost as bad as GN.

I dread going out in the evenings. The annual dinner dance is coming round next month and it's such a heart sink prospect. Poor DH I feel sorry for him at these events. Once I've got over the shock of dressing up and actually getting there, I enjoy the chat before dinner, the meal itself (usually!) but after that I just sit wishing we could go home. No more chat as band too noisy. Och!
I do talks sometimes at WIs and other groups in the evening. Once I'm there I always enjoy it but it's the thought of going out at night... shock

I still enjoy going out at night. I have a couple of leisure centres nearby and go swimming and to the gym, supermarket and car parking also easier at night, everywhere seems so busy during the day, I've always been an owl rather than a lark!

Felix, if you look on the Action for Happiness web site, you will be able to get it and print it off, they do a new one every month, enjoy x

I've noticed that my friends and I have gradually changed all our evening meetings to lunch time ones. Much nicer to come home to a cup of tea and settle down for the evening!

Those shoes were awful.

Kateykrunch - your picture comes up, but it is small and difficult to read, I would like to print it out but it only saves in Pinterest. Would you be able to save it as a PDF so that I could print it as there are some great ideas on there!

Jalima1108 Sat 03-Nov-18 14:38:05

Brrr - I'll try, thanks
What fun!

MissAdventure Sat 03-Nov-18 14:22:07

Have a lovely time. smile

Jalima1108 Sat 03-Nov-18 14:18:52

I think I'm going out as I'm not getting all dressed up (except in a warm clothes plus woolly hat, scarf, gloves, boots.)
I can't wave sparklers around without gloves on.

Jalima1108 Sat 03-Nov-18 14:17:47

I did see that, very funny!!

I'm going out tonight (or am I going out out?)

Jalima1108 Sat 03-Nov-18 14:09:38

I think Lee Mack calls it 'Not Going Out'
