I just take a photo of the school photo, saves my family money.

Thanks so much! I don't have a trace of my school days either. We moved every other year on average. My Dad was a retail store manager.

Thanks so much!

My mother paid for one photo when I started school and one when I started secondary. After that she refused to buy them. When I asked, 'If I disappeared or was murdered what would you give the newspapers? she replied, 'Well you haven't changed.'!!

I take so many of my DGC there is no need for school photos (though I have bought some particularly good ones).

As I said on the other thread you started, just ask and offer to pay Its no good asking us if she expects you to pay only you will know when you ask her if you can have one If she’s just had a baby she’s probably not even thinking about photos
No point in taking offence

Thanks so much!

Thanks Paddy! I didn't realize I could order them myself

Life is too short to worry about this kind of thing. If you want the school photographs, ask your step daughter to order extra for you and give her the money. The cost can be out of the reach of many families.

My sons ex never sends us school photos of their daughter either,it is possible to buy the digital image from the company and print your own .I think we paid about £18 for it.The teacher will be able to give you details of the company and reference number

I didn't even see them. My husband, her Dad, did! He commented how she never gives him any photos. Dumb I know. thanks!!

I am of the same mind as those who say , "just ask". When you saw the pics did you say how lovely they were and could you have one/some?

bernt Wed 24-Oct-18 18:17:42

thanks Ginny- actually just good to talk to someone about it!!

Poppyred Wed 24-Oct-18 17:41:49

Life’s too short to get upset over it. You take lovely photos of them yourself - don’t make it a ‘problem’ unnecessarily. If it’s really bothering you, then ask her outright.

In my opinion snapshots taken informally are so much nicer than most posed photo’s. If you really want a school phot’ why not just ask and offer to pay.

Hi- no my stepdaughter has plenty of money. She has alot of professional photos taken as well and we never get any. My husband, her Dad, is even feeling slighted now. I know that we should just get over it and shake it off. We are both too busy to dwell on it!! I will just keep taking photos of my own. I have several framed that are very cute and have even given some to my stepdaughter.

People can be quite jealous about things like this.
I know someone who would move the photos around on their in laws ' sideboard to draw attention to their preference for their other DGC. So silly and petty.
It was done as a joke but it shouldn't have been done at all.

If your stepdaughter has just has another baby, the cost may well be prohibitive. Is your daughter better off, that she can send 'so many'. Or are you actually talking school photos , in my experience they only do one per year.

bernt Wed 24-Oct-18 16:52:41

thanks Tanith! We just felt like we shouldn't have to ask for one. My daughter sends us so many and my stepdaughter knows it!

Auntieflo Wed 24-Oct-18 16:32:36

There is another identical thread to this one

tanith Wed 24-Oct-18 16:30:42

Why don’t you just ask if you could have one? You could ask her to order on your behalf and offer to pay as they aren’t cheap from school photographers in my experience .

Hi- my stepdaughter never gives my husband- her Dad- and I any school pictures of the grandkids. We were at her house yesterday- bringing a meal because she just had another baby- and we saw the pictures laying on the table. Why do we never receive any picures? Does she expect us to pay for them? The only photos that I have are ones that I have taken.
