A friend sent me a link to THIS THREAD on Mumsnet which made for such poignant and thoughtful reading and afterwards I thought it would be really interesting to pose the same question here. So which one sentence changed your life? I will start with a happy one

Will you marry me?

It's worth reading the Mumsnet thread if you have time but definitely have tissues at the ready

Annapops, in your case, revenge must be very sweet. smile
Mycatisahacker, so glad your daughter recovered. I love your name.

How awful that must have been Mycatisahacker. I can only imagine the worry and fear. This really makes me realise how heartbreakingly worse some situations, sentences, have been than mine. I'm so pleased your dd recovered and I can quite understand how this memory will stay with you forever.

There’s been a fatal crash. You need to pack and go with us to the airport. We don’t know her injuries. My dd aged 12. All the way it was on all the news channels.

She’s now grown up. Recovered. I haven’t and never will really.

icanhandthemback it was like living in a soap opera. A friend said to me, "but I thought you were ordinary, just like us." I am now recovered and my revenge is seeing how this once good-looking man has changed. All wrinkly , balding and a neck disappearing into his chest. What he was on the inside is sure enough showing on the outside. I'm now happily married to a man who needs only one partner in life.

That's awful Annapops. That sort of betrayal must have left you wondering about your own sense of judgement. I hope you have recovered from such betrayal. flowers

"I'm not coming home for the foreseeable future." Words from my husband of 25 plus years after returning from being missing for a week ( we had a row over a secret mobile phone I had discovered). I was later to uncover that for five years he had been leading a double life. His loss but the words still cut through me.

There are lots for me, happy and sad, some really terrible. The one that had the worst effect on me personally was when, at the age of 11, I was taken to the dentist who said to my mum 'I'm going to take all her teeth out' and she let him.

Who would you rather live with, dad or me? I was early teens and my mother left to live with another man. That was a trigger for anxiety and panic attacks which affected me for many years, only ending when I met my second husband who I have been with for 38 years. I never had a relationship with my mother after she left.

Good morning my lady.

This was a greeting I got every morning when I was desperately depressed during a divorce.
He never knew but it turned my life around reminding me I was someone loveable and worthwhile.

PPMS It's tragic and a rotten deal in life. Your daughter being so young and so needed by you all.
I wish you the best hope that she can stay stable with minimal new activity.
I am so sorry. [Flowers] I wish I could several ones.

And there’s your baby.
At the scan I was sent to with the doctor’s letter I’d steamed open saying he thought my baby was no longer viable.
