Fall weather

We are in Normandy at the moment and most of the trees are still green, autumn is very late this year. The last few days have been glorious, bright sunshine and warm and I have been out in the garden weeding and pruning.

However this morning we have woken up to some nice seasonal weather; wind and rain.

When I saw this thread I am afraid I immediately thought of something else! ????

GA, my red acer palmatum is also glorious at the moment. It has gone from its summer bronze to bright crimson and I hope the gales hold off as the foliage just vanishes overnight, or at least becomes a carpet! My little green weeping acer is now bright orange; the rowan and ornamental malus also at their brightest and best. Lovely to have them all so late in the autumn.

We’ve been walking along the cliffs at Flamborough today (NE England), and the weather’s been so lovely for late October. Sunglasses and sun cream on, no jackets. The sea was sparkling in the sun and when we walked down to a cove we saw seals just a few feet away from us. And the Autumn leaves are so beautiful at the moment. Red sky tonight, so tomorrow should be a good one.

My mountain ash and plum and cherry trees are bare. Winter in Northumberland is just around the corner.

I have an acer (palmatum I think) in my front garden - the colours of the leaves right now are so beautiful that I've taken to admiring it whenever it catches my eye. This is by far my favourite season and I love to walk and kick the leaves.

We had two heavy snowfalls with wind in mid-September so all of our leaves are gone, sadly. The usually beautiful colors of fall left early this year.

Beautiful in SW Wales. We have a tulip tree in the garden and the leaves are a bright orange.
