Anyone ready to start knitting royal baby jackets?

paddyann Wed 24-Oct-18 20:26:55

the way I see it is if they dont want folk talking about them they should maybe get a REAL job and step out of the limelight .I do think Annie is right though ,he's too much his mothers son to do that ,she loved the press and as for his new wife well she's made a living out of being in the public eys so it shouldn't be a chore to her .As we all know I am a republican and I think all this nonsense about gruelling tours etc is ridiculous. She's young..ish ,fit and perfectly capable of shaking hands and smiling. Most of us ,at that age, would have had to get up early get other kids sorted for school, make breakfasts and get washing machine loaded ,food organised for after work and then head out to do our 8 or 10 hour stint in a job.Do you really think what the royals do is hard work compared to that?If you do then you have all had very privileged lives and now I know why you believe they are under pressure ! ha ..bloomin ha

Saying Kate put her hand on Williams knee but he completely ignored her, she could have been wanting to do something like that for ages could be considered bitching ?

Saying Megan was not born to ‘royal stiffness ‘ could be bitching ?

Why this anger from some and accusations of critcism of this couple is bitching ? Has no one who accuses me of bitching never posted a criticism of anyone ?

oldbatty Wed 24-Oct-18 18:51:25

None of us know them (?). Its ok to express an opinion on something though I think.

I prefer Royals like a good cake, traditional, unsloppy and professionally put together.

Bridgeit Wed 24-Oct-18 18:22:38

Yes , it appears we have learnt nothing, sad to read such unnecessary bitchyness, from those of us who have lived long enough to know how damaging it can be, usually it is the press who are guilty, sad to say this thread is doing the job for them .

Sparklefizz Wed 24-Oct-18 18:05:14

Just come back onto this thread and there's still more petty criticism going on. Sigh ......

Baggs Wed 24-Oct-18 17:53:56

I think saying Meghan is being undignified because she holds her husband's hand or links onto his arm is bitching. Yes, it's only an opinion. And in my opinion it's a bitchy opinion because her actions are harming no-one and no-thing. She's being criticised for criticism's sake. Why should she be like the queen or other royals? She's herself, not born and bred to royal stiffness.

Could it be a sign of American openness about such things?

merlotgran Wed 24-Oct-18 17:46:20

My mistake. I didn't see his hand on hers.

Jalima1108 Wed 24-Oct-18 17:32:10

Aaaah!
They weren't on official duties, they were at a family wedding, and he has his hand over hers protectively.

Anniebach Wed 24-Oct-18 17:26:36

This film clip merlot ?

Anniebach Wed 24-Oct-18 17:22:37

Sorry merlot, I thought you said it was a photograph not a film,

merlotgran Wed 24-Oct-18 17:05:36

Sigh.

Must you always nit-pick, Annie? It wasn't the click of a camera. It was a camera suitable for a live broadcast. Not a Box Brownie.

Anniebach Wed 24-Oct-18 16:41:40

merlot her hand could have been on Williams knee far longer than the seconds it takes to click a a camera, how do you know William ignored her when you look at a photograph.

wildswan16 Wed 24-Oct-18 16:38:29

I think we need to give Meghan a bit of leeway. Yes, she is an accomplished young lady who is used to being in the limelight, but being at "royal" and state occasions is very different to anything she is used to. I think her husband is just trying to reassure her and guide her through all the protocol etc.

Prince William and Catherine are also the "heirs" to the throne so in a slightly different position.

Anniebach Wed 24-Oct-18 16:36:23

BlueBell, there is much more to love than clutching onto someone.

We see the human side of royalty often, is a smile or a handshake not human ? There are many photographs of queenie on and off duty exchanging smiles, she and Phillip, when on royal duties give their attention to the people not to each other .

I don’t need a couple to hold hands or clutch each other to show love , others do.

merlotgran Wed 24-Oct-18 15:40:25

I felt sorry for Kate at Eugenie's wedding where there was a brief shot of her putting her hand on William's knee. She may have been wanting to do something like that for ages and was spurred on by Meghan and Harry's PDAs.

William completely ignored her and studied the Order of Service.

gillybob Wed 24-Oct-18 15:26:05

I don't think touching/holding hands/ hugging etc. in public necessarily means you love someone any more than someone who is not comfortable doing this. Just different.

gillybob Wed 24-Oct-18 15:23:42

Some people are tactile, some are not

I couldn't agree more Sparklefizz but surely not when you are (supposed to be) working....unless of course they are just on an all expenses paid (plus some) jolly holiday hmm

Tbh I don't know why I'm even having this conversation as I really don't care what they do. I am probably just bored and lonely.

oldbatty Wed 24-Oct-18 15:20:49

I think we need a bit more love on this forum sometimes.

Sparklefizz Wed 24-Oct-18 15:12:18

Yawn !!! Same old same old. Same complaints on here that I was reading a few days ago! We are not all alike. Some people are tactile, some are not. There is not one right way of doing things. That's what makes the world go round.

We need more love in the world, there's too little of it.

BlueBelle Wed 24-Oct-18 15:07:18

Oh but why split hairs they not sitting in an office they are out meeting the general public why shouldn’t they spread a bit of love
No my parents were in their late 80s so not at work Anniebach and as I said the photo showed them out shopping
Perhaps you d all prefer it if she walked two steps behind him
Why not show the human side of the Royalty.? When The Queen and Philip are out together hes usually behind her with his hands clasped firmly behind his back
I agree Bags I think what ever those two do, people will find fault and bitch about it As for ‘touchy-feely lovey dovey’ Gilly what have I missed was he caressing her, were they stopping to kiss every few moments I thought it was a plain and simple hand hold everyone was getting their knickers in a twist over

Anniebach Wed 24-Oct-18 14:53:08

gilly, they are on official duty and will receive monies for doing so.

gillybob Wed 24-Oct-18 14:47:05

I really couldn't give a monkeys toot what they do Baggs.

Just agreeing with Annie that if they are (as plenty claim they are) "at work" then being all "touchy feely, lovey dovey " is probably not very appropriate and I don't think that is "bitching" in the slightest.

Anniebach Wed 24-Oct-18 14:46:18

Posting an opinion on behaviour in public is not bitching, stating a poster who posts an opinion you disagree with as bitching is bitching and uncalled for

Baggs Wed 24-Oct-18 14:38:11

Why does it matter if Meghan holds Harry's arm or hand? There's nothing wrong, untoward or undignified about it. Stop bitching.

Anniebach Wed 24-Oct-18 14:22:06

Exactly gilly, she even clings to his arm when they are sitting together , they are not in the cinema or on a park bench , they can snog away I don’t care, they are at work , they are representing queenie, she has managed all these years without grabbing Phillip, not in public anyway ?
