Erm.....just had a look and it seems (and has been remarked upon) that the 'adoring public' mostly forgot to turn up. I bet all those police standing around with no enthusiastic crows to hold back are a wee bit bemused!

Not more about the taxpayer funded over privileged royals !. Let them pay for their beanos themselves if they want them and stop expecting other people to pay for them. Couldn't be less interested.

gillybob agree with you there re the money.. the budget for educating 180 children for a year which includes utility & rates bills , maintenance of the building, salaries for 17 employees ..to say nothing of the resources and equipment, pens. paint, paper, books, computers, software licences etc etc insurance and service level agreements that we have to have now to get any legal, HR or property support and advice from the council and not forgetting the cost of any updating training for staff etc.. is under £900k pa. So when we are having to decide if we can afford to employ a SEN support assistant or not £2million for wedding security is hard to swallow even if I loved the queen!

I think that Princess Anne had the right idea.

I don't know where her daughter Zara was married but it was a comparatively low key affair.
Playing devil's advocate here.
I suspect most people don't give two hoots about Prince Andrew's daughters but on the other hand if one of the Queen's grandchildren who is unlikely ever to be King can have a big expensive wedding subsidised by us ,why shouldn't they all have the same privilege?
Is it anything to do with the popularity of Prince Harry and the fact that he married a film star?

(I am not watching the Service which is on ITV at the moment but I have had a quick look at the dress and I like it )

I love a wedding who ever it may be. At least the weather is good for them unlike weather we in the SW are having.

Had a quick gander whilst making brunch. I liked the dress too. And I liked the way they were looking reassuringly at each other throughout. Well throughout what I saw anyway.

Shame on you miseries wallowing in your sanctimonious glee at the fact that there aren't millions lining the streets of Windsor for the wedding. It's a Friday. People go to work. I have to confess I was in the "Who do they think they are?" camp in the run up to the day but it's such a lovely occasion and Eugenie and Jack seem so loved up I eat my words.Good luck to them.

Being a traditionalist , the service is perfect in my opinion.

I suspect that the perks of being a 'Royal' are overwhelmed by the intrusion of the press and public in their lives along with the vile judgement that everybody seems to think is their right to publish no matter how hurtful. I can't imagine that it is much fun to publicly vilified from the things you wear to the amount security is going to cost for keeping your close family safe. Even their position in their working life is put down to their "connections" rather than any achievement of their own. How soul destroying. Even their parents enjoying a friendship which puts the children first is questioned when it should be what all divorced couples aim for.
All I saw when I watched them marry was two people who were obviously comfortable with each other and were very happy. Good luck to them, I hope they will be very happy.

Lovely service, the bride looked beautiful and both of them so happy. Gorgeous music and one of our wedding hymns (which I also had at DH's funeral). Well, I enjoyed it, always love a wedding. Gave me an excuse for a morning in front of the tv!

The wedding was lovely. Princess Eugenie looked elegant.
The Beckhams weren't there.

Well I just love the whole thing and watching it on +1 as I forgot it was on and had to go to the dentist. I did wonder why there weren't many people about here when I went to the shops - they must all be in front of the tv - or the gale force wind is keeping them indoors!

At last there are a few people who are making positive and sensible comments about the Royal Family and the wedding.
The people against don't seem to have much to say unless it's along the lines of "why should they have so much if we all can't". Whether you're a royalist or not you must surely see that they bring many, many people to this country and they are excellent ambassadors for us abroad. Thank you, Phoebe, you put it so well.
To Granny 23 and paddyann - no I'm not going to open the link and get into a tit for tat as to who's the best or who gives the most. Nobody thinks that the Scots are scroungers - it's a silly thing to say - but it's just such a shame that Scotland wants to break up the United Kingdom when we've been together for hundreds of years. But so be it. Nicola will keep trying until she succeeds and in the meantime will create a whole lot of bad feeling.

I flitted between watching Sky News and BBC News on channels 231 and 233 who both gave the wedding full coverage but I know not all of the UK can access the 24 hour news channels.

I thought her dress was beautiful and like any bride looked radiant and happy. Whilst I understand the comments re Princess Eugenie she is at the end of the day a granddaughter of the Queen just as Harry and William are grandsons .

I liked the fact she wore a dress that showed her operation scar saying she hoped it would honour those who had helped her and inspire others with the condition of scoliosis. No doubt that will be seen as virtue signalling to some but I liked the principal behind the decision.

Whatever you think of the royals the service was lovely, nice hymns and Andrea Bocelli was good. The readings and sermon were way better than at Harry's wedding.

The fabric of the dress was lovely - hang so well - must have been heavy as the wind did not affect it. Wise choice not to have a veil with the wind, I would love to feel the fabric of the dress - have a thing about how things feel - I never buy any clothes that don’t feel nice!

I thought she looked absolutely beautiful. Beautiful dress, a lovely cut and fit and the style very flattering to her. Good call on giving the veil a miss with such a long train. I thought it was much nicer than Meghan’s dress tbh.

Beatrice and Lady Louise looked lovely. Louise looks very grown up all of a sudden! She did very well marshalling the littles who were all vety good. George looked very relaxed with his big cousin.

The emeralds set off her hair colour beautifully.

A lovely service and it was so nice to see how genuinely happy they both looked.

Kate chose a lovely colour but she always looks very well.
