Should have said “sporting hero’s” before I get my head bitten off for suggesting that a sportsperson can be a hero.

gillybob Sat 13-Oct-18 12:02:39

Meant to add Her mum Zara is one of my DGD’s “hero’s” (they’re horse mad ) .

gillybob Sat 13-Oct-18 12:01:04

I think you're probably right merlot she reminds me a lot of my own DGD’s who much prefer the outdoor life to dressing up.

From what little I saw of Mia Tindall she looked like she'd rather be wearing jeans and devouring a huge ice cream.
Savannah Phillips is developing a lovely relationship with George. Whenever you see them together she's larking about and making him laugh. He's nowhere near as hesitant when she's around.

Maybe little Mia Tindall is too normal annsixty therefore perhaps not worthy of press attention . wink

I Have just seen a photo of the bride for the first time ( thank you Marydoll) and have to say she looks absolutely stunning .

annsixty Sat 13-Oct-18 10:44:30

Little Mia Tindall was not to be seen much either.
Charlotte is the darling of the press, thousands of photographs of her.

Anniebach Sat 13-Oct-18 10:26:16

Lovely photographs Marydoll, thank you.

My wedding band is Welsh gold too ?

annsixty Sat 13-Oct-18 10:25:27

His parents were very sidelined by the press.

Which has 17 pages plus a souvenir booklet!

Marmight Sat 13-Oct-18 10:19:48

I thought the bride looked beautiful. It was just a rather oversized 'family' wedding, all doing their own thing, but with an incredibly motley list of celebs guests which I found a bit odd; however, all to their own! I didn't see it on tv but caught up later with the pics on the Daily Wail blush

Very floral nina not confirming to "the uniform"
She chose her own style (that is if I got the right person).

Interesting statistics today on the BBC website about the funding of public events, discussed on here earlier. It looks as though the security for most of them, including football matches, is almost entirely funded by the public purse, so this was no different (and gave just as much pleasure to those watching as a football match, surely).

Why have I not found photos anywhere of Nicola and George Brooksbank the groom's parents confused
I was curious to see the MoG outfit.

Anniebach Sat 13-Oct-18 10:03:27

The media wanted show biz, dramatics, gossip, they got a wedding which was carried out with much dignity , a bride and groom who didn’t have a need to put on the a Hollywood ‘stars in their eyes, soooo in love ‘ for the camera. All I heard was ‘it wasn’t grand like the previous wedding’.

Thank God it wasn’t .

mancgirl Sat 13-Oct-18 10:01:04

nankate might also have had something to do with a tax break given then - smile

wellwalked Sat 13-Oct-18 09:58:51

Ann, I have to agree with Anniebach and NanKate that it is soo frustrating under your circumstances - is it of any help at all to say that we feel for you?
This culture should be ashamed.
He is a very blessed man to have you. Would he do the same if the roles were reversed?
Would like to offer more practical help than mere words....

nigglynellie Sat 13-Oct-18 09:50:44

Selling the gift bags? How tacky and downright rude can you be? words fail me!

PECS Sat 13-Oct-18 09:48:39

Unless proceeds are for a charity then they are not respectful or real friends !

nigglynellie Sat 13-Oct-18 09:48:13

I agree with you Annie, some of the cruel comments in the media and on here about a young couple on their wedding day are nasty beyond belief! I think commenting adversely about how people look is perhaps a sticky wicket! I wonder how some of the commentators would stand too much scrutiny in the looks department?!!!

Chewbacca Sat 13-Oct-18 09:43:07

I didn't watch any of the wedding and really have very little interest in the royal family at all, but this has really shocked me:

A number of gift bags given to wedding guests of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank are being sold online.
Around a dozen bags are up for sale on the website eBay, with asking prices of up to £1,000

BBC news online. I think it's a horribly cheap and rude thing to do.

oldbatty Sat 13-Oct-18 09:32:32

I think he looks fine, some of the Royals don't. A distinctly equine look.

NanKate Sat 13-Oct-18 09:31:15

Mancgirl SNAP 23 October 1971 it was. Weren’t we lucky to have such beautiful weather? My mum asked why we had chosen October when the weather could be iffy. I said because I love the ? Autumn. It proved to be a good choice.

PECS Sat 13-Oct-18 09:26:02

I have just re read Great Gatsby for my Reading Group. I do think Fitzgerald was a good writer and I think it is a good book. . Great Gatsby is a book critical of ostentatious wealth, class, corruption and lack of genuine emotion it was,an odd book to choose to select a reading from. However, if it meant something to the couple I don't suppose they will care what anyone else thinks if it made them happy!

Mapleleaf Sat 13-Oct-18 09:23:34

Quite right, Nannylovesshopping. There have been some really spiteful remarks, sadly.
