It's very wet here today but not particularly cool but my Son has gone shopping with his GF and yep he's wearing shorts. He wears shorts most days although he wore a suit yesterday as he was at a wedding. So he's perfectly capable of wearing trousers or jeans but his preference is for shorts, just as I prefer trousers so much that I don't own a skirt or a dress. each to their own.

My grandmother always used to say 'Where there is no sense there is no feeling'

In the 1940s boys up to about 14 wore shorts in all weathers, even the winter of 1947, long socks and bare knees. Girls also had bare knees - no tights in those days. Our knees sometimes got sore from the cold and mums would rub them with vaseline.

It wasn't so long ago that most women wore skirts or dresses leaving our legs exposed, rather than trousers as we do now. We wore them in all weathers so I suppose it isn't that much different for men who wear shorts (the one's I see are usually "long" shorts - down to their knees)

I m not talking about workers or lorry drivers who might get hot, but men out shopping with their families in town, and it’s certainly not warm here today Grey drizzling and according to my garden thermometer 48/49 degrees

Where I live the posties have a competition to see who can wear the shorts the longest time in the winter, during last winters snow they all had their hats with the flaps on and shorts, apparently competition was so fierce two of them went right through the winter in shorts?

Our local posties wear shorts all year round. I think they must have a bet on who can last longest in shorts!

Our postman always wears shorts. Well I think he went into long trousers when this Beast from the East came, but other than that .........

My Son drives a Hgv lorry and wears shorts nearly all year, it's still quite warm at the moment but later on he'll wear shorts with a hoody as he has to protect his chest in the winter as he's prone to Pneumonia.

I know, my partner is extremely reluctant to give up his shorts. I’m always amazed when I see men in shorts and anoraks- if it’s cold enough for a jacket, it’s too cold for shorts. There is a man who attends classical concerts here in shorts- dressed up with a collar and tie.

My eldest GS wears shots while working (he’s a painter decorator) no matter what the weather. He’s says it’s just more comfortable, he doesn’t seem to feel the cold either.

I m not sure if it’s just my town but it never ceases to amaze me how many men trot around in shorts whatever the weather
It’s really cold and drizzly here today and yet in town I met at least half a dozen men on different occasions wearing shorts t shirts and some in sandals
This seems to happen all through winter what’s it all about
