I think the posties have a competition to see who can hold out the longest wearing shorts!! ??

My husband is always in shorts! Only puts trousers on when temps drop now freezing, he's a builder and is still leaving the house each day in shorts and T shirt! My nephew and eldest son are the same

My do has always had his personal central heating - though perhaps less efficient in the last few years - and will wear shorts whenever possible, inc. just the other day. His legs are perfectly presentable so it's fine with me. (Wish I could say the same for mine! I won't be seen dead in shorts nowadays.)

I know what you mean, though - there was a man who used to come into the library where I worked, who wore them all year round, even with snow on the ground. He was (probably still is) an extreme eco-warrior, evidently didn't believe in shampoo, either. His hair didn't look dirty, but you could smell it - that horrible unwashed pong that's rare nowadays - from quite a few feet away. BTW he wasn't homeless or anything, in case anyone's wondering.

Hey Sodapop, maybe your husband could rub that concoction on a bald mans head. Maybe it would make the hair grow back, ha.ha. So funny.

I can’t get mine into shorts at any time of the year.

Men have higher metabolic rates (hence the shorts) than women (hence the cold feet) so they keep warmer - and eat more!

It's not so much the shorts I object to, it's wearing them inappropriately. Seeing men in restaurants, out shopping etc. who spend half their life in the gym and only ever wear vests, to show off their newly acquired muscles. Put some clothes on for goodness sake! ?

DH wore shorts indoors all year round, but drew the line at going out in them in winter!

My DH ( a cyclist of many years) wears shorts except when I make him put on a pair of longs if it's an appropriate occasion. He went to the footie yesterday in pouring rain and strong winds in them and thought nothing of it.

However he has very nice shaped and tanned legs (no prominent veins) and also he is a tough Northener and seldom wears a coat either! Our DS is like his Dad too and also has very nice shaped, tanned legs.

Our postie's all wear shorts all year round - I read once that there is a competition between them all round the country.

A friend of my son's has worn shorts for as long as I've known him - he's probably nearing 50 now and still has his long blond hair as well. They suit him and are part of his personality - I've only seen him in a suit once for son's wedding. My husband doesn't own a pair of shorts - not really sure his figure would suit them

One of my sons popped into see us yesterday, we were feeling quite cold having just returned from southern Spain, and he was in shorts! I did wonder it was wet and drizzly

My postman told me they all wear shorts because sitting in a van in wet trousers when it rains is so uncomfortable.

Same here Thebeeb My husband has patches of psoriasis on his knees and the cream he was given has caused hair to grow there, looks quite funny.

DH been out shopping in his today. Be a few more weeks till he gives them up for winter. Loves his shorts.

Its fashionable to wear socks with 'sliders' (that's flipflops to us) now.

It used to cheer up my drive to work seeing the posties in shorts???!

I just think it’s dead funny as so many (mainly older men) wear them with sandals and socks or plastic macs ?it’s not so much about the bare legs and cold but the inappropriate look One today, had navy wide legged shorts and open sandals as the drizzly rain came down ?

I sit behind and elderly man in church and he wears pink shorts. Went out for coffee with a friend the other day and there he was - yuck.

Our postie told DH he wears shorts most of the year because it's easier to dry skin than trousers.
DH loves wearing shorts he wears the smart chino type when we go shopping, it's fine by me. I wouldn't leave the house with him if he was wearing socks with his sandals though.

Our postman is still in shorts and it has been fairly nithering in this neck of the woods the past few days. DH has only just put his shorts away for the winter, and the moleskin trousers have come out. GS was very put out when he was expected to wear long trousers at his new school - he wore shorts winter and summer at his junior school. If the forecasters have it right, we could have a return of warmer weather next week, so there may be a sartorial all change!
