What is it with men and shorts

When they are sitting opposite in the underground wearing shorts with legs spread out..... ugh!

I also saw a man out today wearing tshirt and shorts, I had dug out my woolly scarf because there is a bitter wind.

My husband wears shorts most of the year, inside and out but they are decent looking shorts not these football type shorts. Wears them with a short or a shirt and a fleece. Must say he looks very good

yes,it amazes me how many men are still in shorts,often older men.As regards postmen,I worked in a Post Office up to when I retired 4 years ago.The winter 5 years ago was very cold.One day,we asked the postman who came for the mail why he was still in shorts.He said that they were all doing it as a charity fundraiser,and they got used to wearing them,we thought they were very brave.

Our posties around the area wear shorts all year round if they can...they are a competitive lot and they like to see who can stay in them the longest lol

I wouldn't be seen dead in shorts, except in the course of a beach holiday or sailing.

Posties in our area wear shorts all year round too. But so do I, not unusual for me to wear t-shirt, shorts and sandals on a sunny December day, especially if I'm walking the dog on the beach.

A local postie made a bet that he would do his round in shorts for a whole year! Now they're all wearing shorts.

Funny, when I was in the Junior School we were not allowed to wear long trousers except for one rather large boy! Now I wear shorts quite often and always in the Summer!

I’ve noticed that most of them are also wearing tattoos on their legs, so it’s my theory they are showing them off. Don’t start me on tattoos though!

ninathenana that is true, who wants to have wet trousers clinging to your legs. I wear shorts or cropped trousers most of the year, legs dry quicker than trousers. My Posties wear shorts all year round that includes the women

I also don't wear socks (my feet get too hot)

Sorry about the typo but it did remind me that during the 1930s and 1940s tights were not invented, apart from ballet dancers, and we wore stockings and suspender belts which left the thighs bare. Trousers for ladies were not the done thing. Also we wore French knickers! Draughty! At school until we were fourteen we had three quarter socks.
Boys wore shorts until they were fourteen, the age at which many started work.

But my Next Door neighbour is quite repulsive in shorts and I wish he'd wear long trousers 365 days a year. And my piano teacher when I was in my middle teens during the summer always wore skin tight flesh-coloured shorts.I found it unattractive and never felt comfortable.

I asked local postie who explained that shorts are more comfortable than long trousers which get wet and clammy in cold/wet weather.

My favourite saying when I see someone inappropriately dressed in bad weather is 'I hope they get the weather they're expecting ' ?

My middle-aged DSs wear shorts in summer, but usually the knee-length baggy kind which I abhor and say so, but why listen to mum! However, the last time I saw DS1, on a lovely sunny day, he was wearing a smart pair of chino shorts, above the knee. He is very fit, nicely tanned and has legs that should be seen! His brother is less fit-looking, but wears shorts anyway.

I should have added that I rarely feel the cold. Neither of my sons do either & wear shorts on winter unless it is raining or snowing.

I have no problem seeing men's legs--sometimes it is a very nice view!
I confess I wear shorts a lot myself. I'm not keen on trousers anyway & they make a change from skirts-I'm wearing a pair now.
Whatever you feel comfortable in is fine as long as it's clean.

Some men, like some women, look really good in shorts- nicely shaped legs are vital. (I never wear them) We have a man locally who must be in his 50s/60s who wear the shortest shorts that I have ever seen for most of the year. They are basically knickers and although he has very good legs he just gives me the creeps.

When we were children boys up to the age of 11 never wore long trousers and they never complained of the cold, either.

Strangely enough I remember the same boys, once we had grown up, asking how women managed to exist in skirts and nylon stockings all winter.

I don't like men in shorts, give me a man in a kilt any day of the week instead.

My DH wears shorts much of the time. He refuses to wear trainer socks, but since we discovered some ‘almost trainer socks’ this year. That’s what he wears-and looks good too.
As others have said, it’s not that long since girls were not allowed trousers, and we never even had the option of woolly tights as children.

Sorry it "wasn't" acceptable!

When you think back to our childhoods, girls wore dresses and boys wore shorts. One winter when I was about five my mother send me to school in red wool trousers. The teacher told her it was acceptable. I used to have chapped legs in winter.

My 70year old son wears shorts most of the year and friends say what good legs he has for his age. I always wear dresses or skirts all the year and only wear tights when it is really cold. The thighs come off as soon as I get indoors.

It is definitely not a good look. I see many elderly men sporting bare legs and it really puts me off my lunch!!
