How clean is your oven? Help!

DD has an oven like that Carolpaint.
I'd never heard of them before she had hers

White vinegar and bicarbonate of soda is supposed to work well but I think you need to do it regularly.
That is something I resolve to do every time the oven has been cleaned.

I would either get a professional in or buy new. Afterwards what I do is I wipe round the sides bottom trays and glass door with a cloth or sponge while it is still warm. Its really easy, much easier than a deep clean. oven is five years old and door is still clear and only a few marks elsewhere.

When I lived in married quarters years ago we used to put all, the moveable bits of the cooker in a black poly bag,stand it in the bath overnight with some household ammonia in and fasten it. In the morning just wash with warm water.To clean the oven itself we just used a dish of ammonia overnight too.Sounds a bit like over pride only more basic forty years ago. Wire wool is best for cleaning ovens too, don't use too much water though,elbow grease is better. Never got billed for cleaning either.

My mother always said that the dirt in an oven was 'clean dirt' and I've believed her ever since!

I have cleaned my oven myself in the past but find the smell of the chemicals makes me feel sick. It has only been when I have moved somewhere and the oven they've left has been dirty. Usually, I keep an oven clean by clearing up spills etc. as they occur.

I think it is perhaps better for your son to get the professionals in to do it if possible.

I hate cleaning my oven, as mine is now a floor standing one I can't get down to clean it. Also I can't use strong chemicals due to allergies I will have to get the Professionals in eventually. Must start saving for a Combi Microwave, great to cook in & easier to keep clean

Legs55 we have a combi. Its so useful that we bought one for the caravan too. Its also useful if you are cooking things at different temperatures. Ours was highly recommended by a certain magazine and not the most expensive.

I don't like using chemicals purely for environmental reasons. I clean my oven after every use which takes very minimal effort. Any rare marks on the exterior of the mirrored drop down door, are removed with a small blob of toothpaste followed by damp microfibre cloth.
Still looking for a combi oven without the round revolving plate and stand. I prefer the rectangular shelf.
Combis are good for single living and when family descend one can use the regular oven.

Panasonic do a flatbed microwave oven, GabriellaG, I've got one, it's excellent.

Combi microwaves are really useful.
I've got two

I have multiple ovens!
I also have Multiple sclerosis and haven't been able to cook !

Ours are Panasonic. I wasn't sure we were allowed to say. Not flatbed though. What's the difference?

We have a self-cleaning oven which is brilliant, and I use Oven Pride for the removable grill trays. (Also good for BBQ grills).
It all comes out sparkling clean and my oven, which is nearly 20 years old, looks brand new. ☺️

I took early retirement from laborious housework.

I get mine cleaned a couple of times a year by a local professional. Reasonable cost. In between I have a remove able liner on the bottom which I take out and scrub in the sink when it gets grubby and was over the glass door regularly. It's an induction hob which gets sprayed and wiped after every use, that takes seconds and its sparkling again. Wish I'd had an induction years ago they are fab.

Agus its not laborious at all. Because the oven is hot just takes a minute and really easy.

annep I’m sorry but oven cleaning is the last thing I want to do after I have cooked a meal, I just want to sit and relax at the table☺️

SInce I discovered, a few years back, a local company called Oven Wizard, I just get them in every other year, and my 14 years old oven comes up like new each time.
I do use a Halogen oven now, quite a lot, and although the bowl for that is easy to clean, the hinged lid is not, anyone got any suggestions on how to clean that?

I can just imagine the family sitting expectantly roundthe table, dinner is cooked, Mother or Grandmother with her head in the oven shouting "hang on kids, this won't take a minute"

Mine is usually still warm after I have eaten. It works for me. I'm sure I miss the odd time.?
