How clean is your oven? Help!

Ours are Panasonic. I wasn't sure we were allowed to say. Not flatbed though. What's the difference?

Combi microwaves are really useful.
I've got two
Not sure why I've got two.
I've got a normal oven as well.
I have multiple ovens!
I also have Multiple sclerosis and haven't been able to cook !

Panasonic do a flatbed microwave oven, GabriellaG, I've got one, it's excellent.

I don't like using chemicals purely for environmental reasons. I clean my oven after every use which takes very minimal effort. Any rare marks on the exterior of the mirrored drop down door, are removed with a small blob of toothpaste followed by damp microfibre cloth.
Still looking for a combi oven without the round revolving plate and stand. I prefer the rectangular shelf.
Combis are good for single living and when family descend one can use the regular oven.

Legs55 we have a combi. Its so useful that we bought one for the caravan too. Its also useful if you are cooking things at different temperatures. Ours was highly recommended by a certain magazine and not the most expensive.

I hate cleaning my oven, as mine is now a floor standing one I can't get down to clean it. Also I can't use strong chemicals due to allergies I will have to get the Professionals in eventually. Must start saving for a Combi Microwave, great to cook in & easier to keep clean

I have cleaned my oven myself in the past but find the smell of the chemicals makes me feel sick. It has only been when I have moved somewhere and the oven they've left has been dirty. Usually, I keep an oven clean by clearing up spills etc. as they occur.

I think it is perhaps better for your son to get the professionals in to do it if possible.

My mother always said that the dirt in an oven was 'clean dirt' and I've believed her ever since!

When I lived in married quarters years ago we used to put all, the moveable bits of the cooker in a black poly bag,stand it in the bath overnight with some household ammonia in and fasten it. In the morning just wash with warm water.To clean the oven itself we just used a dish of ammonia overnight too.Sounds a bit like over pride only more basic forty years ago. Wire wool is best for cleaning ovens too, don't use too much water though,elbow grease is better. Never got billed for cleaning either.

I would either get a professional in or buy new. Afterwards what I do is I wipe round the sides bottom trays and glass door with a cloth or sponge while it is still warm. Its really easy, much easier than a deep clean. oven is five years old and door is still clear and only a few marks elsewhere.

White vinegar and bicarbonate of soda is supposed to work well but I think you need to do it regularly.
That is something I resolve to do every time the oven has been cleaned.

Pyrolytic oven is the way to go. It heats to 400c reducing any food splashes to white dust which after it has done its job and cooled you wipe off with a damp cloth. Why are any of you using fierce chemicals? In the meantime get a professional to clean for now. My oven is not going to inhibit what I cook. A scientist female friend gave me the tip when I was refitting my kitchen brilliant advice.

Just so happens I did all three of mine last night (that includes micro ). They weren't very dirty ( all under 2 years old ) so I only needed a Brillo pad. The plan is to keep on top of it by regular cleaning!! I seldom roast meat in them, preferring the slow cooker or simmering on the hob, so that helps. I also use tin foil in the oven to 'protect" the shelves and doors, plus cover the base. Am still trying to convince both DDs to do the same so as to avoid major cleans. I'm not succeeding!

I bought a steam cleaner.
Filled it up, then once it was steaming, found I couldn't get the lid off.
Neither could anyone else, so it got thrown away, and my oven stayed grimy.

I use (or since retiring DH uses) oven cleaner gel from Lakeland. Just paint it on and leave a while, on such a bad oven it will take a few applications, but I moved into a house a few years ago and had an oven like that to clean and amazingly managed to transform it. We have used the gel ever since.

Professional cleaners are the only way to go.

I have used Mr Muscle oven cleaner spray for years. It says don't leave it on overnight but i always do. Its messy cleaning it afterwards but it does work and the feeling of satisfaction you get afterwards is great!! If you don't fancy that though get a professional in.

We do have a steam cleaner. Maybe that will help.
My son is happy to do the hard scrubbing himself.

I expect that my oven is 'average' on the cleanliness front - it's not spotless either but it doesn't smell nasty and as far as I know I haven't poisoned anyone yet.
