Seems daft now

My DH will also leave a toilet roll middle, on the window cill, and not put it in the recycling. He will refill the holder if said rolls have all been used. Today, after getting back from a hospital appointment, gasping for a cuppa, he had not refilled the water filter jug, so it took a while to filter through, before the tea could be made. I know it was him who emptied it, as he made the tea early this morning, for which I am eternally grateful. This is a recent addition to his other foibles, not that many, but frustrating.

This is so petty, but my DH would never make the bed if he was last up. I stopped nagging reminding him about it and started just smoothing the sheet, straightening the duvet and turning the pillows on my side only. It was extra work, and he never noticed, so I don't know why I bothered! blush

nonnie I used to have toilet roll wars.
It seemed to be me alone who replaced them. Then I finally got fed up . When faced with the empty cardboard roll I would fetch a new roll from the landing cupboard, use what I needed, then return the mostly still full roll to the cupboard.

DH learned very early on that no one was going to pick up his washing. It has taken longer to get him to undo the buttons on his shirts but he remembers most of the time.

My pettiness is to take the inside of the loo roll which he has left on the handbasin and put it in the place where I put his post and other things only he should put away. Its a work in progress!

My ex husband was a teacher. On the last day of the summer term he put his jacket and tie on the back of a dining chair, at the end of the six weeks holidays they were still there.

I think I like your style HildaW.

Liz46 Does he, like certain male members of my family make a bid to be on "Recordbreakers" for how much can be shoved in the kitchen bin.

I threatened my kids that if they left their shoes and trainers laying around in the kitchen, I would chuck them all in the bin!, and I did, (I knew it was empty and cleanish, it was when the big grey wheelie bins first came out), I still laugh at my daughter dangling into the bin, held by her legs by her brother reaching down to get all their footwear out and it worked, I still often shout out, “if you dont shift these shoes, they’re going in the bin, but.....now its just my shoes (I have too many and hubby is tidier than me) lol xx

Liz46 Fri 28-Sept-18 12:34:19

My husband throws rubbish in the direction of the bin but often misses. I used to pick the stuff up but just leave it now.

gmelon.....mind you I was the same with the children....when they asked me 'Mummy where's my such and such......' (once they were old enough) I'd say......'who's such and such?' and sort of shrug....they soon learnt. P.S. love them to bits too.

HildaW
"point of honour" I love that!

At least if he puts his own clothes away he's not forever asking you the whereabouts of "my nice sweater".

Non laundry related "points of honour" also welcome.

HildaW Fri 28-Sept-18 12:16:37

I still refuse to pick up OH's laundry if he leaves it on the bedroom floor. Its a point of honour(!) that I only 'do' laundry that has been put in the laundry basket in the main bathroom! I then take charge of said laundry and if needed iron and fold it but I leave it in place in the 'scullery' area for him to collect and put away (they are his clothes after all). Daft, stubborn call it what you will....I'm happy to do certain chores (he does many) but I just sort of refuse to go around picking stuff up! P.S. love him to bits!

gmelon Fri 28-Sept-18 11:59:47

In my thirties I was a busy tired mum of three boys.
The laundry was never ending.

My husband would throw his shirts in the washing basket, sleeves rolled up.

So I started washing and ironing them with the sleeves still rolled up, just as he left them.

It used to infuriate me that he'd been asked to unroll them before putting in the basket.

Now it seems very daft.

Can you confess to anything similar?
