Oh Granjan that’s so sad ?
Royal Mail threatens to stop deliveries over dog attacks
What a difference a day makes 😢😢
Craig and Lindsay Foreman end their hunger strike in prison in Iran.
In my thirties I was a busy tired mum of three boys.
The laundry was never ending.
My husband would throw his shirts in the washing basket, sleeves rolled up.
So I started washing and ironing them with the sleeves still rolled up, just as he left them.
It used to infuriate me that he'd been asked to unroll them before putting in the basket.
Now it seems very daft.
Can you confess to anything similar?
Oh Granjan that’s so sad ?
I always packed DHs gym bag, twice he rang me from the gym to say that I’d forgotten to put his sport socks in the bag.
The following week I attached 6 pairs of lacy undies to his socks with safety pins, when he pulled out his socks in front of his mates out they all came.
He now packs his own bag
What a vindictive lot we are ??
I remember being furious with my daughter about the state of her room. "You tidy it up NOW! and if, when I check it there's anything on the floor, it will go STRAIGHT IN THE BIN!! After an hour or so she called down that it was done. "Right, I'm coming up, and if there's ANYTHING on the floor it will go in the bin". I opened the door to an immaculate room, but there, on the floor,right in the middle, she had laid out her school uniform!
My DH leaves his sleeves rolled up and the buttons fastened on his shirts that are in the wash, leaves keys and shoes at the front door, empty glasses/mugs wherever he used them, lid of butter, bread out and unwrapped, leaves envelopes from opened post wherever he opened the post .... need I go on.
Never not want to be running around him ....
It's the tissues left in trouser pockets that drives me up the wall. On occasions I'd forgotten to check and the washing has come out covered in paper snow, despite constant nagging (yes, I'm not ashamed to use that word because he deserved it) he still forgets and I still find myself rummaging in all of his pockets before doing the wash just in case!
It infuriates me that my DH puts his dirty clothes in the washing basket, but leaves bits of them hanging outside!
Men! Hah! ?
I've said this before, but I'll say it again, at risk of life and limb!
Poor hubbies cop it all the time! Whereas, you should be having a go at your MILs for not continuing basic training after their potty stage. I'm Mr. Tidy; just ask my house keeper; she's well-paid and doesn't complain.!
Women sometimes make fools of men, but most guys are the do-it-yourself type.
What is it with men & toilet rolls? My DH changes the roll but when it still has about 1/4 of the roll left! He then leaves it behind loo & I put it back on. This goes on until it is nearly empty & I give up & use the last bit off the roll behind loo. He says as it is nearly used up it is better to have a full one.
I've given up arguing.
I refuse to iron shirts with buttons left done up & I have asked he only puts trousers in wash bin one at a time as I HATE ironing trousers & can only cope with one pair at a time.
I was spoilt as ex was happy to iron & I taught both my boys to iron when they were 11. I don't actually dislike ironing as I do it in back bedroom looking out over garden but I'd rather do it little & often than have a marathon session.
Yes my dh always rolled his socks into a ball ,after getting annoyed every time I hung the washing out and then asking him, politely of course ,not to do this i just hung them up in a ball and then put them on his bed so he could see them and the inner part of the socks still damp he soon got the message...
Oh Dot
. Another one who irons buttoned-up shirts, if I iron them at all. Otherwise, I find those annoying things - coins in pockets, empty toilet roll holders, leaving doors open etc - only bother me so I might as well sort them out! But I'm a bit of a hoarder, which I know is annoying, so it equals out.
I am the one who forgets tissues and puts single socks in the washer.
I am the one that makes a mess all over the house.
I am the one who uses every pot and pan to cook and who keeps paperwork "handy", just in case...
But I'm also the one who hoovers behind the sofa, occasionally wipes the skirting boards, does all the "high up" dusting, removes empty loo rolls and finishes off the boring ends of jam, marmite and mayonnaise etc without opening a new one.
I think we are both annoying and helpful in equal measure.
DH is 'guilty' of many of the irritating habits mentioned:
shirts buttoned up, sleeves rolled up;
tissues and coins in trouser pockets;
growing stacks of (his) mail that remain unopened;
shoes and slippers left around the living and dining room;
But the most annoying is his garden shoes - he comes in and leaves them on the kitchen worktop, out of reach of the dog. When I mention it he puts them up on top of a wall cupboard. I forget they are there, open the cupboard and get a muddy shoe on my head!!
But I wouldn't change him for the world, I'm well aware that one day I will miss him and all his little habits so, so much.
And I am the one who replaces the loo roll and leaves the empty tube on the window sill. Sometimes there will be several of them and I'll stack them in a pyramid. DH then gathers them up and takes them to the greenhouse for planting seeds in.
If it's put out to washed inside out, or worse still half inside out, buttoned up or whatever lazy way they do it, that's the way they get it back. Sometimes things are very difficult to iron but that's my point of honour.
Reading this makes me realize how lucky I am!
My husband leaves all rubbish at the back door as he claims not to understand the recycling. (He's a highly intelligent man) I sort it and bin it for a quiet life. A while back he moved into the spare room as I snore and keep him awake. The first morning he asked why I didn't make his bed. I said because it was HIS bed, not mine. Ever since he's done that small job himself. A little victory for me.
My husband has too many of the above bad habits! Luckily although it annoys the hell out of me I just do it.
It may make me a doormat,but the other option was to leave and I suppose I must l must love him,despite all his bad habits!
When my youngest child(now 15) asks where something of his is,but doesnt say PLEASE i say it back &end it "what"-or just say "what"-till he cottons on which bits missing &ends it with " please"- we usually get there eventually even if he gets a bit grumpy
Haha-gerry 86- i too started to do that this week!- two teen sons who do that constantly- i tried it last week with youngests school shirt- but no,he was wearing it INSIDE OUT! (good job he wears a jumper&blazer on top so it wasnt as noticable...
)ill keep you posted if it works.....
Yes Bush i have ALL that from my teenage sons too- and im trying to change them both NOW so i cant get the blame when theyre older from their wives!Wish me luck!
Jools1903-i LOVE that one! Might try it one day...
There's lots of things that used to exasperate me when I was a young mother . Things that used to reduce me to tears make me feel uncomfortable now about my angst then !
I wish I was the person I am now but back then ?
My 15 year old proudly told me he HAD changed the loo roll yesterday-(&our holders are quite difficult to manouvre) but forlorny he informed me he'd got it the wrong way round- but i told him it didnt matter&well done!( At least im winning on that one!
As I've been divorced for a long time, I can't remember what annoyed me about my ex (apart from just about everything). However, I do admire my two DSs for their domesticity and think I must have brought them up pretty well - or have their OH's trained them well? What I would love to know is how all the posters on this thread have brought up their sons? Do their DiLs have any complaints?
However the clothes are when put in the laundry bin is how they go in the washing machine and then hung out. I find crumpled socks seem to straighten themselves in the machine. I put his socks and boxers away in his drawers but his clothes are folded lengthwise and put over the landing bannister for him to put away. I think the pile got to about 3 weeks worth high at one time. Now our lovely cleaner appears to be putting them away so he cant complain if he can't find something. He always puts a new toilet roll on before the old one is finished. But worst if all is that he never uses the toothpaste to the end and I have to finish them up. When he was renting an apartment in England while having his treatment I went to visit and found about 5 mostly used tubes of toothpaste piled on his basin. When I asked why his reply was "well I know you like finishing them up" grr!
