Ironing the wrong way round

Well, the lover has moved in and considering we are two aged people who have lived by themselves for many years, it’s not going too badly[gtin]

Except that he irons the wrong way round! And when he puts the board back in the cupboard that’s the wrong way round too and boy do I struggle to put it up.

Now, right handed people, without telling you what I do ( because maybe I have got it wrong all my life and it would be better his way) on which side do you rest the iron, on which side do you have the pointy bit of the ironing board?

When you put it away is it pointy bit down or pointy bit up?

I’m off to iron some tops now. Having had to do a three point turn in the kitchen to get the board the right way round!!!!

Ironing is totally unnecessary. Body heat sorts it when you put the clothes on. Washing up is necessary so let him do it. I wish I had someone to do that!!! Close your eyes and just enjoy your 'lover'!!! Life is too short!

I have been following this post with amazement. SO many posters discuss being tired, napping and so on, yet spend time on (IMHO) a totally unnecessary pastime. We have fabrics that crease much less than those of yesteryear, spin cycles rather than wringers and if things are smoothed after drying I cannot see the need for an iron.

Having said all that I shall be ironing seams when I dressmake but that is a once in a while pursuit. I shall now go and put my head below the parapet.

But. To answer the original question, pointy end is irrelevant as our ironing board can be operated from both sides apparently, and it is stored with broad side to the floor for safety reasons.

Sunshining, so backpack and drink to the ready. Apparently this will be our last warm day sad

NanTheWiser that was my reaction!! grin

On the subject of which way round - iron stand to the right, pointy end to the left and stored with point down. I'm right handed
