Ironing the wrong way round

Pointy end to the left, iron to the right, fold pointy side down. Sharing ironing board with SIL at the moment (DD doesn't iron) and he folds it pointy end up - it's really difficult to put up that way round, isn't it?!
Just bought new ironing board for my granny annexe - limited edition pink frame with flamingos cover - I love ironing and can't wait to use it ?

I apparently hang things in the wardrobe the wrong way.
My mum also claimed that I put her knickers away with the gusset to the right instead of the left. (I think! Whatever way it was wasn't correct)

Think yourself lucky he does the ironing at all - I've been married for 38 years, and he did the ironing for 2 weeks, 2 years ago, when I had my wrist in plaster! Never before or since.

Fold gusset up to elastic, right side folded over then left folded on top!
Ps my dad, my ex and my DS were/are all competent ironers!
But eglantine you're right to sort out these important issues from the outset!

Great you are settling into a new life. Hope it all works well. I've had a press for years. We both sort the laundry, put in machine - hang on line, bring it in - over to me from there. He's never asked about the press - I brought it with me. I've never mentioned it either, just get it done.

I have the iron on the right and the pointed end on the left. I use either hand to iron with, you might say I'm ambidextrous where ironing is concerned. When I put the ironing board away, the pointed end is down.
If I ask DH to put it away for me, he always stands it upside down.

Pointy bit to the left and iron sits on the right and when put away the board is pointy bit down otherwise it is a nightmare to put up. Himself irons his own stuff and will take turns with me on the household stuff and has even been known to iron some of my stuff. All the men/boys in our family are good at ironing and just get on with it. In our home I sort the washing, load the machine and get everything going but Himself helps me with the folding of sheets and other big stuff.
I was talking to the hairdresser today and apparently we both iron our sheets and pillowcases as they feel so much nicer to slide into.

Eglantine I would appeal to his kindness and ask him to put the board away so that you can get it out without having to ask him to do it for you every single time. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about trying to convert him to your way of thinking and doing as it is undoubtedly much too late, just enjoy being.

As a left hander, I'm with Kitty apart from the enjoying ironing bit!

And, for what it's worth, anyone who puts the ironing board away pointy side up needs taking into a dark corner and given a severe talking to. It's completely abnormal

Pointy end to the left, iron stands on right. When put away, the pointy end is down, otherwise it would collapse. DH will insist on putting it in the cupboard facing the wrong way, but as he irons his own shirts, I can't complain.
As the ironing board was a wedding present, it is now over 57 years old, so vintage/antique. (But I do change the pad and cover regularly)

OMG I hope nobody looks in my knicker drawer, all just pushed in there in a heap. What sort of housekeeper am I. ( answers on a postcard please )

DH, who is right handed, says pointy bit on the left and when folded the board goes in the cupboard with pointed end up. He did a risk assessment and the wide end must be at the bottom otherwise the centre of gravity is incorrect. I bow to his superior knowledge and allow him to just get on with the ironing

Well if you are arguing about an ironing board already it doesn't bode well for a long term relationship. Who cares which way it is supposed to be stored - get over it!!!!

I'm right handed, so pointy end on the left, iron stands on the square right end. My ironing board folds in half to store it so the pointy end has to point down. Congratulations on finding a man who likes ironing, I just let him get on with it however he wants to do it!

Iron rest to the right, pointy end to the left. Ironing board put away with pointy part pointing down and cloth side facing outwards on the RHS of utility cupboard. That is the only way

My underwear gets rolled. Face down, left over right 2/3rds, right over left then roll up bottom to top.
Anyway, I very very very rarely iron and I guarantee that no-one would ever guess that from looking in my wardrobe, drawers or linen closet. It's the way I smooth, dry and fold. No tumble dryer either.
