Why? Why - when I was lucky enough to get through my teenage years relatively unscathed - do I now have four spots on my chin? For some odd reason I have developed a triangle of greasier skin from my nose to chin. Surely it’s not my hormones unless I’m entering my second childhood! Help!

Spots in my sixties!!
(24 Posts)I feel your pain! ?
Maybe you're feeling a bit stressed? Sometimes this upsets our bodies system and breakouts can occur.
Strangely I just watched several videos yesterday my DIL (who is a make up artist) has done and she mentioned how awful her skin used to be - one of them was done while they were here at Christmas (from my front bedroom which I found funny - I had wondered who she was talking to for so long!!
) and she had several breakouts which she put down to all the rich food and chocolate she'd eaten. She did a detox when she got home in Jan and her skin improved again dramatically. If you're not normally prone to spots though hopefully it's just a short term problem.
Hmm. Never thought about a connection with stress. This is my absolute crazy time of year with panto, village Christmas lights, Christmas Fayre etc but another couple of stressful events have also been flung into the mix this year. Will be interesting to see if spots disappear as stress levels drop. In the meantime I’m cleansing/toning and dabbing perfume (ouch!) to try and kill them off!
I'm a bit spotty too ,its my neck and forehead.I put ot down to dieting so I've started taking a good multivitamin.Hopefully that will help.
Drink lots of water !
I've always had horrible skin even into my 50s all down to hormones .
Your skin is a wonderful organ that can tell you that something is not right within your body and one way it can let you know is by breaking out into spots or changing colour ... Obviously it will not go blue or orange but by going grey or red.
It is also dependant on where the breakout is as to what may be causing the breakout , it could well be stress due to you having a lot on , think back about your diet while you are so busy , does it change ,are you eating different foods due to being busy , maybe sweet treats or processed food as time is limited , less salad and veg maybe?
Could it be that your moisturiser is too rich for your skin?
I have the same problem although they are almost gone now. Hope they stay away for a bit. I also developed eczema in my late 50s. It's just bad enough to be irritating particularly when it is in my ears and wearing necklaces irritates the back of my neck.
Sympathies, could something like a weekly face pack help? You may be a bit run down, perhaps treat yourself to a new lightweight cleanser and moisturising lotion. They'll probably disappear as soon as they arrived, hopefully.
I’m sure all of the above are useful. I have suffered with sensitive skin most of my adult life. I have found anything with Retin A as an ingredient to be good but by accident, in an airport Boots found No 7 Protect & Perfect intense advanced Serum and it’s really good. I have found spot stuff for younger skin makes my skin worse, this sorts out spots with no redness or flaking and with added advantage of supposedly smoothing fine lines. I won’t hold my breath but my skin is better when I use it & keeps spots at bay.Good luck Katek, only other sufferers can understand how horrid spots are.
Tea tree oil is excellent for the odd breakout of spots
I still get the odd chin spot and I wouldn't be without tea tree oil - I have bottles everywhere! Just a dab a few times a day clears them very quickly. I began taking a probiotic tablet a few weeks ago and had several breakouts - something to do with a cleansing of the system apparently, but it's better now.
My annoying spot has just been diagnosed as skin cancer and the surgery will leave me with a big scar on my face. I’m sure yours are of the teenage variety, but just posting a warning to anyone who has one that doesn’t go away. Mine appeared in February and I didn’t think anything of it until it started bleeding.
Yep. I'm 69 and have a spotty face.
I have seborrheic dermatitis which affects my scalp but also eyebrows & face, just have to use the shampoo when it flares up but I hate it affecting my face.
I had some Clarins Moisturiser sent to me for a product review, within 2 weeks I had small white spots all over my face so had to stop using it, I find No 7 products are ok for my sensitive skin.
I have always had bad skin and 2 years ago at age 63 I tried Paula's choice cleanser, toner and moisturiser. You can get it in trial sizes and in different products depending on your skin type, and full refund if it doesn't work. The products were amaxing and I have used them ever since. I have added other products when the 20% discount is on offer. Over the years I have tried everything and to date this is best I have found.
'At your own risk' - I have some dilute hydrogen peroxide (from chemist for getting rid of debris while pedicuring) and if I get a spot - once it has opened however that may be, I dab some on using a tiny brush - it fizzes and that KILLS the infection and then it just heals up - rather than the annoying regrowing every day cycle! - Use it dilute and remember it IS a bleach so keep it off everything else.
I had suffered with spots around my chin for many years. I am over 70years old.
I had tried all sorts of creams, cleansers, vitamins etc.
Then a Gp recommended a steroid cream that you can buy over the counter in Boots. It’s expensive at around £10 a tube, but it worked. I havnt had a spot since.
If anyone is interested, I will let them have the name of it.
I have been told I have *senile acne*?
Thanks for all the suggestions - will start with simple ideas and work up to more aggressive measures if necessary!! Dgd (12) and I can swap tips........didn’t expect to ‘get down with the kids’ by sharing their spots
Katek I suggest you check that it isn't Rosacea. I use very good quality tea tree and lavender essential oils to keep it at bay and this is very successful.
And perhaps have your blood sugars checked? ...
Greciangirl, I would be interested to know the name of the cream, please?
I had a terrible time with spots last year, and I have a bump which hasn't gone yet!
The doctor said mine were caused by stress; he could see them starting to get inflamed during the appt as I was stressed about going there.
