Do any of these resonate with you

I’ve been taking GN too seriously of late. So thought I’d lighten up a bit.

I’m sure you can all think of more to add to the list....

1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap
when I was younger.

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.

5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

6. Was learning cursive really necessary?

7. Google Maps eally needs to start their directions on # 5.
I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

10. Bad decisions make good stories.

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection, again.

13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to.

14. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

15. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

16. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

17. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said?

18. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!

19. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

20 Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1 .7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time.

Thank you Old Meg....made me giggle so much! I can fold a fitted sheet...a rather bossy friend showed me how one very long 10 minutes and how to insert a duvet quickly...much more fun my old way!....climb in and wiggle a lot...hee hee

I saw one on FB that made me giggle ...'Remember - if you lose a sock in the dryer, it comes back as a Tupperware lid that doesn't fit any of your containers.'

OldMeg Fri 07-Sept-18 08:27:20

Yes, I’d like to go to one of those too! I presume there’d be sufficient ? served to add to the chaos.

OldMeg Fri 07-Sept-18 08:25:43

Are you on the right thread ginny? ?

ginny Fri 07-Sept-18 08:24:24

Why do so many older people seem to enjoy getting into a competition over who has the most aches and pains, takes the most pills or has had the most operations ?

HannahLoisLuke Fri 07-Sept-18 08:23:12

Thank you OldMeg. My favourites are No 8,16 and 18 and thanks also Miss A for your reaction to sheet folding demos at parties. Now I want to go to that party just for the laugh ?

OldMeg Fri 07-Sept-18 08:21:36

Perhaps we should ask for a dedicated thread for light-hearted and/or funny posts? Seems like we all like a ?. I think there’s already a jokey one running.

Any ideas for a title perhaps?

Bellanonna Fri 07-Sept-18 08:09:37

17 and 19 certainly resonate. Also why, every time I go to remove a hanger, whether in my wardrobe or a shop, does that hanger get tangled up in the one next to it? Without fail?

Helennonotion Fri 07-Sept-18 08:06:15

Nanny27 - My son always had problems with worrying if he'd locked his door! In the end he had the brilliant idea of videoing himself locking the door on his phone! So when that sinking feeling hit, the 'have I locked the door properly' one, he could just refer to his phone!

This might help?!

This contribution comes via a bus driver - I was near the front in a bus that was just about to pull out of a stop, when a woman came flailing across the road, coat flapping in the breeze, clutching a giant handbag and waving her free arm for the bus to wait. And the driver leant on his steering wheel and muttered "And they never have their pass ready either". grin

All resonate with me but what about duvet covers. After 30 years of struggling with duvets I have finially and sensibly ( both hands arthritic) decided there was nowt wrong with sheets and blankets.... and have gone back o them. Bliss ... and finially find myself NOT overheating at night. AND am sleeping better. Whatever possessed me. Goodbye duvets!

teabagwoman Fri 07-Sept-18 07:45:52

OldMeg you’re wonderful, agreed with every one of them.
Got my morning off to a great start.

Tea and cake Fri 07-Sept-18 07:33:58

Agree with every single one of these! ?. Could add, why when I think of an interesting fact to look up on Google later, by the time I've got round to it I've completely forgotten what it was?

Willow500 Thu 06-Sept-18 12:58:24

Very funny thread grin

And why is it when I finally decide to have salad its all gone off?

Or when my roots don't need doing I'm not going anywhere but the the week before I'm due at the hairdressers I get invited out!

ffinnochio Thu 06-Sept-18 12:16:30

Thoroughly enjoyable OldMeg ?

No. 4 is top of my list!

As an addition. ... why is there no ‘irony’ emoji? Is it because those that get an ironic remark don’t need one, and those that don’t get it, still wouldn’t get it, with one?

JackyB Thu 06-Sept-18 12:04:51

I can fold a fitted sheet - no problem. And our freezer has a light.

Like Nos 3 and 4 though.

OldMeg Thu 06-Sept-18 12:03:56

Love the additions....that one about the phone charger made me LOL

ChaosIncorporated Thu 06-Sept-18 11:48:49

Thank you oldmeg - I am still smiling.
I offer the following additions:

1. When there are only two ways to insert a phone charger, why does it always need three attempts?

2. Why do small children always say the most embarrassing thing at the quietest point in general conversation?

3. Good manners should not mean having to be polite to to cold callers.

4. I have regretted not saying "no" far more often than I have regretted saying it.

6. I believe in the sock fairy! socks vanish, in the laundry cycle, and I still have no idea where they go.

ninathenana Thu 06-Sept-18 11:35:13

Nothing to add at the moment but they are all making me smile.
Especially the Google maps.

Pagzy Thu 06-Sept-18 11:01:09

What a brilliant thread

POGS Thu 06-Sept-18 10:47:35

Good list Old Meg

Who would have thought it would be posh to put chips in a baked bean can.?

Why is my dress size different from shop to shop?

How easily the meaning of inclusive has turned into exclusive.

Strange my lovely old photos last better than some more recent ones.

henetha Thu 06-Sept-18 10:17:48

What a brilliant list, OldMeg. Can I add two things that bother me?
Why does Yorkshire pudding rise better if I make it with plain flour that it does using self-raising flour?
Why are men's shirts sold with such ridiculous packaging,
- pins, celophane, cardboard, plastic. Why not sell them just on hangers like ladies blouses are?

Grammaretto Thu 06-Sept-18 09:53:05

I see the garment on someone who really suits it. grin
Well done oldmeg sod's law applies here a lot.
#13 and #17 resonate.
And not being able to read the label on the shampoo or other product without glasses and glasses don't work in the bath/shower

Nanny27 Thu 06-Sept-18 09:49:45

Thanks old Meg I chuckled all the way through your list.
One to add;
Why do I never trust that I have locked the back door when I go out? I know I have but always have to go back in and check!
