I know I'm old now because if I'm ever offered a seat on the bus now I smile and say Thank you. I used to give a stiff-lipped No thanks.

Over ten years ago, I was offered a seat twice on one day - it made me feel SOOO depressed at the time.

Anyone know when 'elderly' kicks in? Is it just anyone 10 years older than me?

I know I'm not old because the helpful men at the tip never offer to help me but I have seen them do so to people they consider old enough to need it. Shame there is no smug emoticon!

But it can give to a boost when it happens in reverse. I took my granddaughter to the dentist the other day and was mistaken for her Mum !

First time I thought I was a "grown up" was when a wee boy in the street asked me the time,he called me MRS .I was shocked even though I was a married woman MRS just seemed very old

Shopping in Aldi the other day and needed 2 cartons of UHT milk (the long-life variety; keeps me going). A new case needed to be opened, but for the life of me I couldn't do it. They must be using stronger glue or perhaps I'm getting old. I asked a gentleman standing nearby who I thought (mistakenly) was a staff member; another customer, but he kindly opened it and handed me the 2 cartons. I thanked him and he said "No prob. GRANDAD" sad
I've got this far without anyone calling me that to my face, not in public anyway; my dreams were shattered. I had to have a stiff pick-me-up when I got home. confused
