British Gas customer service

Fume fume angry. The boiler's broken down so I phoned British Gas on the number given to find that you're no longer able to speak to a real person, as I've done in the past and received good customer service. At no stage was I given the option to speak to an adviser, just asked to answer prompts. I can't find any other numbers in connection with boiler repairs so if the engineer doesn't turn up, as has happened in the past, goodness knows what you're supposed to do. This seems a fairly new innovation?

fivegee, have you tried just holding on and not saying anything? Very often, after the recorded message says, "I'm sorry, I did not get that" you will then be directed to a real life advisor. Or at least, that is what has happened to me.

Auntieflo, all I got was a message saying if you feel you have any sort of special needs or there was danger you could hold on for an adviser. I was tempted to do that but it wasn't actually true (thank goodness!)

Auntieflo, Having re-read your message, I was a bit thick and didn't quite get what you meant at first. I'll try that next time, thank you.
