I love colour - red being my favourite, but it is difficult to find something bright when you are over a certain age (and certain weight!). I went into a shop yesterday which caters for the more mature and larger lady - everything was in dark colours, except for some tops which were a particularly nasty shade of mustard

Unfortunately these threads can thrive on implied criticism of other women's (mainly), styles, colours, fashion sense, and so on. Why can't we be more supportive, beige is not life threatening Rufus it's just a b****y colour, and there's more to life.

It's nobody!!! I'm not very confident and post menopause even less so. I have ended up with a completely different body and struggling a bit. I love it when someone shares an idea or a recommendation. I cannot believe I am the only lumpy, bumpy one

Well said Lazigirl, and as many have mentioned, some shades of 'beige' can look fantastic if the garment is well cut and stylish and the colour suits the wearer.

As for the elderly lady in beige, so what? We all have different ideas of what looks good on us. Around the house I can wear whatever I like, depending on what I am doing. A trip to the supermarket doesn't have me taking too much time deciding what to wear either. I buy my clothes to suit my shape and colouring (beige/taupe/sand/nude/camel included) and I do make an effort generally to look good. One of my best friends sports an outrageous Bohemian look, always, and she looks fabulous. To each their own I say. I know lots of people who always dress for comfort rather than style.

No beige. I'm more of a grey, black and cream dowdy, except that I don't feel dowdy and I do occasionally add bright colours, especially on my feet!

Has no one yet viewed that YouTube clip I posted a couple of days ago, about Megan, beige and the other Royals? I thought you'd be lapping it up, especially anti-beigers and non-royalists!
Oh well! No accounting for taste or lack of it, as they say!

Last time I was there was 1995, so I guess a lot of tides have turned since then.

Rufus I watched it but to be honest I think it went on a bit about the Royal family changing Megan, making her wear beige tights. I'm not a royalist at all but I can't agree with everything that is said just because of that. I saw nothing wrong with her tights. And quite a lot of these videos eg "What Megan can no longer do" etc seem stupid to me. sorry ?

I feel sorry for someone wearing liners/insoles in sandals. They must havr very painful feet. And older people sometimes only feel comfy in elasticated waists. And can't think about fashion and colours. Could be any of us some day.

I did raise an eyebrow with regard to flesh tights 'wind soreness' being forced upon Meghan.

Best areas to live in my opinion are Southbourne or Tuckton they have become very popular with young families and two of my DD and their families live there. Ferndown is nice too.

Unlike Kate, she doesn’t have a personal stylist, so presumably her choice.

Do remember a work colleague commenting I was dressed top to toe in beige. Was in my 30s!! It’s just a, sort of, colour. Think it’s better than top to toe black.

You would have looked fine in beige in your thirties

Rufus don't tell me that you don't walk around in beige shirt and shorts with an akubra plonked on your head with beige corks swinging off it.

I have a couple of odd tops in different beige-y shades, but most of my clothes are fairly bright, not really advisable on my size, but I like bright colours, not keen on black, hate grey, barely tolerant of brown.

Marg and I know this is off topic - charity shops. I went into one in a very good catchment area S of England eager to pick up lots of good quality bargains. Nothing but Primark and supermarket items. I have no objections to buying either but expected some high quality shop labels. Moreover they were mostly very worn and grossly overpriced.

What I would like to know is when does the ‘beige phase’ start? Does it creep up gradually with an item here and there, or do people just wake one morning and decide to revamp their entire wardrobe in varying shades of beige? My dh is always wondering when the urge to go out and buy a little beige zip up jacket will strike him.
