The Second Time Around

I've no intention of getting rid of my 2000+ cd'S or my still increasng vinyl collection.Vinyl is back in a big way and we have a top f the range turntable thats my OH's pride and joy.We spend many hours listening to all sorts of music from the middle of the last century and right up to date .I love music,all music Sinatra to Nutini and even newer .I did pass on literally thousands of books though ,to our local school whose library was burned down .That way they are still being read and used and enjoyed

And there is nothing like a book

Having failed the CD test of my resolve, you've reminded me of all the books in our spare bedroom, passageway, in fact practically everywhere, that I promised to "read when I retired"!
The 27th. anniversary of that happy event will be on Friday week. Haven't made much of a dent on the stockpile! I'm a natural procrastinator.

I am very lucky to have a large loft space to store my CDs/LPs and vinyl records and just can't bring myself to get rid of any,being a child of the 60s and working in Liverpool at the time I have many many records of the era and I can remember when I bought every one.
Rufus I feel your reluctance in saying goodbye to any of them and hope my children will keep my collection.

Recently I decided to clear out stuff I haven't seen let alone used for years. The CD's and records were high on the list but all that happened is I have shifted most of them to another part of the house.

Boy did I enjoy my day of ' getting nowhere' listening and remembering who, when, where songs meant so much to me. Tissue box for me too.

I've seen lots of vinyl coming back into the shops, seems as if it's having a resurgence.

Lisatening again to Frankie I wasn't sure if he meant 'love was lovelier' the second time around with No.2 or with No1, reconciled after a spat.
However another thread has just come in on the tide regarding husbands' infidelity so I think I'll get out of the water before my feet get too wet.

Spotify is all very well Grannyknot but I paid for the vinyl and then again for the CD. Don’t want to pay again ?

We use sonos Playlists and our I Pods - not brave enough to get rid of the CDs yet- all the DVDs have gone now- to the charity shop.

Don't dump the cds. Keep the clutter up to a point Am nervous that keeping things digitally will not last as well. Same applies to photos.
Have started buying some vinyl again.
And there is nothing like a book.

Day6: Cool! I wouldn't know how that works but, like , it sounds awesome! Probably packs a lot of decibels, but may flatten the car battery if used on full volume!?

I still have my vinyl - and cassettes! At one point I used to scour the charity shops for cassettes (three for £1) because the car at the time only had a cassette player.

My greatest and one of my most cherished finds was an old Fleetwood Mac cassette of the Peter Green era (the only worthwhile music they made imo) with Green Manalishi, Oh Well tracks on it.

I hasten to add that most of my music is now in MP3 form and downloaded, and linked by blue tooth to the (new) car system....but I am not quite ready to throw out my record, casssette and CD collections. I shall get rid of them though. I am not sure that even the charity shops sell many CDs these days.

I've still got a load of vinyl. Late husband couldn't pass a second hand record shop without going in . So many memories!!

OH put all ours on a separate hard drive but even then we still kept a few CD's. We still don't know why but we did :-)

As for it being an emotional trip down memory lane, it really was a time of tears and laughter.

I transferred all mine to usb sticks and binned the clutter.
