This is the legit way threads work....

Q: How many GNers does it take to change a lightbulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed.
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.
6 to argue over whether it's 'lightbulb' or 'light bulb.'
Another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid.
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is 'lamp.'
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry and that 'light bulb' is perfectly correct.
19 to post that this page is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a light bulb page.
11 to defend the posting to this page saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant here.
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and which brands are faulty.
5 People to post pics of their own light bulbs.
15 people to complain about other people being judgemental for the way in which they change their light bulbs.
7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs.
4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's.
5 to post to the page that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy.
4 to say "Didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
13 to say "Do a search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs."
1 to bring politics into the discussion by adding that (insert politician of choice) isn't the brightest.
4 more to get into personal attacks over their political views.
5 people to get sidetracked on a discussion about bacon and coffee and how the only reason we need light bulbs is that we can see them to cook them.
1 admin to ban the light bulb posters for inserting political discussion and close the thread.
6 to complain I have cut and pasted a lengthy tome.
702 to mention that I posted this once before.
It’s still funny though lol x

How can lightbulbs be dim? I sometimes, ok rarely , have a lightbulb moment , come to think of it though, yes dim is appropriate

DanniRae Sat 18-Aug-18 13:05:08

"Didn't we go through all this already?"................grin

KateyK; Very clever!smile Could you please issue a re-draft substituting "bulb" with "globe" so that my Aussie friends can share the humour?
"Bulbs" are like what we plant in soil, hoping to see a flower, eventually. and are non-electric. grin

Would the last person leaving this thread please switch off the light? Thank you smile

Auntieflo Sat 18-Aug-18 13:14:34

Thank you Kateykrunch, made my day.
Will somebody please now explain why "Vintage" globes are so expensive?
Or have we had that discussion before?

Rufus2 Sat 18-Aug-18 13:33:41

Would the last person leaving this thread please switch off the light? Thank you
Bathsheba; Could you please "cut and paste" your message over to the ("Lengthy cut and Paste...) thread as well.? Thank you! smile

And you can buy ' smart' light bulbs now but I don't know how they work.
But someone on GN will be able to tell me......

Jalima1108 Sat 18-Aug-18 14:37:59

Perhaps they can answer the questions on Only Connect

Greyduster Sat 18-Aug-18 14:56:21

Or the ones who posted to say that lightbulbs can’t hold a candle to, er, candles?

ninathenana Sat 18-Aug-18 15:23:07

Bathsheba grin

Best thread on GN at the moment. Needs a goblet but I can’t find one so...?

GillT57 Sat 18-Aug-18 17:35:19

Very illuminating!

Bathsheba Sat 18-Aug-18 20:08:19

Needs a goblet but I can’t find one so. Would that be because you can't find it in the dark? Turn the light on!

Teetime Sat 18-Aug-18 20:16:21

grin

ninathenana Sat 18-Aug-18 20:24:14

Rufus2, globes are those map balls on stands. Will they really sprout flowers if we bury them?

Jalima1108 Sat 18-Aug-18 21:00:14

We have one that lights up, the DGC like it - I wonder which bulb it takes?

muffinthemoo Sat 18-Aug-18 22:59:51

“My DIL and I have had a row about lightbulbs”

Deedaa Sat 18-Aug-18 23:20:08

DD has blocked me on Facebook and is refusing to let me see my grandsons because I queried her choice of light bulb AIBU???

Dunno! Depends on what fertiliser you use, but try it and see. Use the Earth globe stress relief variety, but keep one back for use if nothing shows. smile
I suspect they'd fare better in the Southern "emisphere"! grin

muffinthemoo Sun 19-Aug-18 10:34:37

AIBU to refuse to let guests use the lightbulb

henetha Sun 19-Aug-18 10:39:49

I love that, KateyKrunch. Very clever!

pollyperkins Sun 19-Aug-18 11:03:39

Ha ha ha! Very funny thread!

glammanana Sun 19-Aug-18 11:11:32

Very funny post KateyKrunch grin

Wheniwasyourage Sun 19-Aug-18 14:48:07

Rufus, if you bury the globes in the southern hemisphere, surely they will just grow deeper, and you will have confused them. Oh no, not if you plant them upside down, of course - duh!!
