Good Morning Everyone,
Its the start of another hot balmy day , usual day out with sufficient water with me.
Yesterday , put together a Gov. e-petition as to changing law as to bus passes with a 50p minimum contribution towards the fare to help maybe stop unnecessary bus cuts .
Mick

Good morning everyone.
Another hot day in store for us here in South Yorkshire. Due to cool down tomorrow.
Got my gardening jobs done yesterday, but not the ironing, so that’s today’s Job!
I suspect bus passes will be phased out by the time under 67’s reach 67. Here, though, people with a pass pay a reduced fare rather than no fare at all, which seems reasonable. I wonder whether something similar should happen with prescriptions, ie pay a reduced amount rather than nothing at all, ( unless you require lots of items for your condition on a regular basis, or really can’t afford it).
Enjoy your day. ?

The retirement age changes have hit many people hard. I feel so lucky to have had the choice to retire at 60 and remember clearly how ready I was at the time.
Best wishes to you and your DH Gilly.

gillybob Tue 07-Aug-18 09:01:40

I doubt we’ll ever get one pittcity to be honest as unless something is done soon they will be phased out . Exorbitant bus fares here too .

Morning All

Another hot sunny day here.

We’re off for a chug up the river today with my cousin from Oz. He thinks this heat is nothing - but why don’t we all have air con!

lemongrove Tue 07-Aug-18 08:53:39

Morning to all, another hot day, but yippee cool weather on the way ( I may actually get some housework done then.)
Was out early watering the garden, all looking lovely apart from the straw lawns.

annsixty Tue 07-Aug-18 08:43:51

Good morning all.
Just popping in to say what a very good idea the token bus fare is.
I would be happy to pay it although at the moment mine is not used.
Another sunny day, I never thought I would be saying that over and over until it is routine.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Happy birthday, Mr Kittylester! It rained overnight in Cornwall. I wish I’d been there to see it - can’t remember what rain looks like ?! We leave here today. A detour to South Wales (over that b****y bridge?) to see DH’s sister and then home on Wednesday, Deo Volente! Have a good day folks!

Pittcity Tue 07-Aug-18 08:34:50

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Another 30 degrees plus day. So looking forward to the temperature drop tomorrow.
Early shop and then taking it easy in the heat.
I am the same age as Gillybob and as a non driver I would love a bus pass. The fares here are extortionate so I'd be happy to pay 50p.

ChaosIncorporated Tue 07-Aug-18 08:29:12

good morning.
Sunny in this corner of Somerset, this morning.

Anniebach Tue 07-Aug-18 08:25:42

Good morning all x good morning Auntyflo x

No idea what the weather is like here in Mid Wales, still in bed, blackout blind and blackout curtains on window.

ginny Tue 07-Aug-18 08:24:14

Good. morning.
Sitting eating breakfast in our ☀️ garden. Looks like another hot day.
We shall be busy today. Both DGS here and my brother and SIL visiting. Hope to have a little trip out to a local craft/gift shop and a cuppa in the cafe.

gillybob Tue 07-Aug-18 08:14:34

I think 50p per trip is fair and won’t involve any admin whatsoever .

gillybob Tue 07-Aug-18 08:13:41

Only Around 11 years to go Nana3 (assuming I make it and they don’t move the goalposts again) . My big problem is that DH and I have over a 10 year age gap and we planned to retire when he was 70 and I was 60 . That is now out of the window but I can’t see him being able to work in a heavy physical job as he does at the moment until he is 77+ .

Auntieflo Tue 07-Aug-18 08:12:53

Morning Mick and all. Hot and sticky here, although in bed with a cuppa and the fan, it's quite pleasant.
Mick, re the bus passes, I certainly would pay an amount, such as £10.00 per year. Mind you, someone is bound to say that the cost of admin, will cancel it all out!
Nannytopsy, no housework, ironing, or gardening, just chill.
Happy birthday Mr Kittylester, and good luck to all those looking after GC.
Have a good day all
Annie, gee up, where are you?

Nana3 Tue 07-Aug-18 08:08:33

Good morrning from sunny Lancashire. I have the day to myself, will give all chores a miss, they won't be going anywhere. Will use my bus pass for a trip to the coast I think. Good luck with the petition Mick. How long till you retire gilly, if you dont mind me asking?
Have a good day everyone.

TwiceAsNice Tue 07-Aug-18 08:08:03

Morning All warm here already in South Wales . I have travelled back to spend the week with my best friend and then catching up with other friends whilst I'm here. Have settled in Surrey but do miss Wales. Am having a lazy start then meeting a friend for lunch later. Have a good day everybody.

Panache Tue 07-Aug-18 08:02:47

`Morning all.

The usual grey start but it soon warms up.

Another one of those days when I don`t quite know where to start and feeling like something the cat dragged in does not fill me with optimism.........but there we go,been here before and got through the day!!!

Birthday wishes to your DH Kitty....is he stating to feel his years?

Have a pleasing day and hope those temeratures are not over demanding!

cornergran Tue 07-Aug-18 08:01:47

Morning All from an overcast corner of Somerset. Hair cut, coffee group and lunch with a GN friend today. Best get moving. Happy birthday to Mr lester, birthdays do come around smile. Agree bus pases are a lifeline for many mick, social isolation is the cause of many ills, have you thought of seeking support from your MP? Hope Tuesday is kind to everyone.

Nannytopsy Tue 07-Aug-18 08:00:16

Happy Birthday Mr Kitty and to Nina’s bestie! Looks like it will be warm so do I finish the garden/do the ironing/start the big house clean? Answers on a postcard please!

gillybob Tue 07-Aug-18 07:56:44

Indeed Harri this is what we have had to do as I couldn’t do with out it 2-3 nights a week all summer long.

harrigran Tue 07-Aug-18 07:55:22

Good morning, beautiful sunny start to the day.
Last day of GD's stay until after their family holiday, I can get the Dyson fan back out of her bedroom. Should really buy another one grin

gillybob Tue 07-Aug-18 07:37:38

Just meant to add that if something isn’t done about the bus passes (ie the token 50p charge) then the likes of me who can’t retire until they are 67+ (assuming I live that long) will probably never get to have one, they will be long gone.

Brunette10 Tue 07-Aug-18 07:31:39

Good Morning everyone, dull and raining here in NE Fife not a pleasant day. Glad to hear you got your tiles Marydoll but sorry to hear about your friend, it's never easy getting sad news like that. Yes think we have all been there toddler needing toilet but nowhere to take them, not good for your stress levels. Had very busy day yesterday but today is another day and meeting friend for catch-up, coffee and scones this morning. Enjoy your day everyone.

NanKate Tue 07-Aug-18 07:27:19

Morning Mick and All.

Boiling hot here in South Bucks, bring on the cooler weather.

Well the grandchildren arrived at 9.00pm last night. The 7 year old saw some local boys his age playing on the field in front of our house, next thing he was out there in his pjs setting up a football match girl 6.00 tonight, there is nothing like getting yourself organised at the beginning of the holiday ?⚽️⚽️⚽️

Happy Birthday Mr Kitty.

It’s important Mick that we keep our bus passes.

Marydoll Tue 07-Aug-18 07:22:56

PS, Gaga, come up to Glasgow, there is plenty water here.⛈️☔
