Conservatory heat

Can they prove their theory? After all you weren't there , who is to say someone didn't throw a stone at it? Fire an air gun at it?

I don't think Id settle quite so easily if I was you .

I have french doors from the kitchen and lounge that open into the conservatory and also 2 sets of french doors that open out into the garden, yeah the conservatory is pretty warm but not hot enough for windows to explode. Although went into the kitchen at 3 am this morning, turned on the light and one of the halogen bulbs exploded, frightened the life out of me. As for the conservatory, ok it was closed up but surely it would depend on size, what way it faces etc etc before anyone could say what caused it. Why are atmospheric conditions not covered? Hardly an act of war is it, or does that come under earthquake,volcanic eruptions etc etc. Next time say you tripped and fell against it, if there is a next time.

Thank you for your comments NanaandGrampy, Flexible Friend. The policy has now expired so you won't be surprised to hear that we've not gone with the same company again. This time we've gone through a local broker, who surprisingly was cheaper. He actually said that he would have been tempted to throw something at it so that there was a hole. Could they have proved then it wasn't an accident......? Sometimes I think we're too honest at times!

I know what you mean fivegee , our own worst enemies sometimes. Glad you found a different broker.
But I'm withFlexibleFriend its the UK ( I presume) not the Kalahari desert, surely it cant have got hot enough to explode .

The glaziers we got quotes from didn't shed much light - the consensus of opinion was that the heat must have found a weak spot from the initial installation, and it was a chance in a million. (We took over the conservatory with the house so don't know the history of it except it's about eight years old.) The strange thing is that it had shattered on the cooler, dining room side, of the double glazing. A mystery which will never be solved unfortunately.
