The Thai boys
As the other thread is entitled Good news and as a man has just died in the rescue I thought it needed updating
It s so very sad to think this man has lost his life whilst trying to save these lads
He was swimming to take them oxygen but didn’t leave himself enough for getting back he was 38 years old
I didn’t realise it’s a 5 hour swim to get to the boys ledge and then a six hour swim ( against the flow) going back
The monsoons are expected on Sunday it’s horrendous

Hope the link works

I ve noticed the BBC report has changed to 4 now Jaycee oh poo I was elated they were half way there looks as if they can only manage four a day then Well it’s a big improvement on none so fingers crossed for the next attempt which is scheduled to start 3am our time tomorrow morning

PamelaJ1 Sun 08-Jul-18 19:35:53

These rescue divers are truly amazing as is the courage of the boys.

BlueBelle Sun 08-Jul-18 20:45:06

...and all volunteers I believe

Jalima1108 Sun 08-Jul-18 20:46:52

They are waiting until Monday (it could be Monday in Thailand already) as they needed to get more oxygen to the boys still in the cave.

willa45 Sun 08-Jul-18 23:39:51

Oh dear! I thought they would be able to get them all out in time! So happy and relieved for the few that made it out, but more worried than ever about the rest! God bless these rescuers...I hope and pray it all ends well for everyone!

BlueBelle Mon 09-Jul-18 07:27:35

They are waiting for the route to be set up again it’s no easy thing they have to set the air bottles at certain places as they can’t do it on one bottle each There are rocks and obstacles that need to be moved The water is like coffee thick and muddy The boys are very fragile medically They haven’t been able to wash or toilet properly for two weeks (I didn’t even think about toileting) and had no food for nine days so probably not well at all The news this morning spoke of infections but didn’t go into details
The divers also need to rest it’s the same divers going in again I would think ( my assumption) they are the most experienced and having done it once so know the pitfalls
The latest news said it could be up to four days for the next stage
It all seemed so euphoric when the first four came out it felt that they were home and dried not feeling quite so confident now, but fingers well and truely crossed

Wheniwasyourage Mon 09-Jul-18 07:36:50

Fingers crossed indeed. The poor families. So good that four are out anyway.

DanniRae Mon 09-Jul-18 09:46:37

Just read on BBC News that the cave rescue has began again.
My prayers are with them.

Jaycee5 Mon 09-Jul-18 10:20:19

DanniRae Yes, we can only wait and hope. They said yesterday that it would be the same team as they know the way and the systems. They will be exhausted by the end but must have felt elated at the success yesterday.

I caught the end of latest news and thought he said another stretcher had come out but not sure if I heard right. Anyone else heard that ?

BlueBelle Mon 09-Jul-18 11:08:02

Royal Thai Navy official says Fifth boy out and left in an ambulance for the hospital

Jalima1108 Mon 09-Jul-18 11:40:24

?

aggie Mon 09-Jul-18 11:43:56

I hope he is ok , it was said the first four walked out

Jalima1108 Mon 09-Jul-18 11:46:40

I thought I heard that they left for hospital on stretchers too. They must be very weak and then have had to go through the ordeal of getting out, sapping what little strength they may have.

Jaycee5 Mon 09-Jul-18 12:55:29

Three have been brought out, 2 sent to the main hospital and 1 to the field hospital. They are carrying on.
It looks as if they may try to continue today.

Jaycee5 Mon 09-Jul-18 13:11:48

Now the 8th boy is out.

Jaycee5 Mon 09-Jul-18 13:13:38

BlueBelle Tue 10-Jul-18 10:39:50

Latest breaking news 10 boys out

gmelon Tue 10-Jul-18 10:40:04

Yes Bluebelle ,
How fortunate the serious rain held off. Waiting for good news.

BlueBelle Tue 10-Jul-18 11:21:44

Eleven out now and first two that were out two days ago are eating and walking about
All boys came out wearing sunglasses (as they had been in the dark so long) and on stretches as very weak
The latest news says the coach actually followed the boys into the cave as they ran in ahead of him !

gmelon Tue 10-Jul-18 11:25:45

Wonderful news.
It was a miracle that they were even found. Now it looks so hopeful for a complete rescue.

Jaycee5 Tue 10-Jul-18 11:38:01

Brilliant news. Apparently the second rescue was 2 hours quicker than the first and they believe that this one will be quicker again. The first boys taken to hospital are said to be doing well and walking around the ward.

MamaCaz Tue 10-Jul-18 12:06:54

Just in case they successfully get them all out- I still hardly dare think it for fear of tempting fate - GN could do providing us with an almighty 'cheer' emoji. Plus a special emoji of some sort in memory if the diver who so tragically lost his life.
