Does anyone else find it hard to watch Nadal playing because of the fact that he detaches a wedgie from his arse at least twice each point.

Can he not afford pants and shorts that fit????!!!!

Yes I have the same problem watching Nadal so much so I no longer watch him

Tennis, football, cricket, rugby.... can't be doing with all these men and their balls.

You cannot beat Roger for sublime tennis action, and he does not have any annoying activities.

Can't watch Nadal because of his OCD, I know he can't help it but it doesn't make it easier to watch! All the grunting from the players is so distracting too, used to love watching the tennis, listening to Dan Maskell's dulcet tones it's not the same now......

JenniferEccles Fri 06-Jul-18 13:25:55

Yes, Roger is one of my all time favourites as well.

His style of play is lovely to watch - so much more interesting in my opinion than those who just engage in those baseline power rallies.

His touches at the net are a thing to behold aren't they

JenniferEccles Fri 06-Jul-18 13:28:10

Oh yes, missdeke dear old Dan Maskell.

Didn't you just love his wonderful "Oh I say!" comments?

missdeke Fri 06-Jul-18 17:58:19

JenniferEccles 'Oh, I say' epitomises his style of commentary. Listening to John MacEnroe commentating on the Federer match at the moment it's not the same........ tennis

Bellasnana Fri 06-Jul-18 18:10:18

The commentators get on my wick more than anything else. They seem to love the sound of their own voices and I wish they would put a sock in it angry

I can't stand Nadal. He's not a good sport, he cheats, he tries to intimidate his opponent by glaring over the net - oh so many things. As for his continual playing with his knickers - drove me nuts and I don't watch him any more.
Give me Federer any day. He's such a joy to watch. Elegant and never complains. Nadal has to scramble madly to achieve anything and he complains. He even has requested to have an umpire removed from his future games because he had the nerve to stick to the rules and give him warnings. Pathetic!
Not an admirable man in my opinion.

Never heard of a wedgie before. Always something new to learn on Gransnet.

Luckygirl Fri 06-Jul-18 18:28:40

My DGD aged 5 announced she had a wedgie the other day!

Quite frankly my dears, I don't give a damn, I don't like Nadal. Give me Andy Murray any day (oh please). I'm quite bereft without him at Wimbledon tennis

CardiffJaguar Sat 07-Jul-18 10:07:48

Most of the commentators are a pain yet MacEnroe is the one who brings real knowledge plus experience to any match/person he is talking about. IMHO he is the only one worth listening to, although I just want to watch!

kathyd Sat 07-Jul-18 11:34:21

I agree about McEnroe. I didn't like him as a player but he's an excellent commentator.
Can't disagree strongly enough about Murray. I'm so glad he isn't at Wimbledon.
I wish some of the interviewees didn't glance so often at the camera monitor. Two of my favourites do it - Tim Henman and Stephen Hendry and I so wish they wouldn't.
I do realise that these things are quite unimportant in Life's grand scheme of things though!

John McEnroe is a wonderful commentator but I have fond memories of watching the highly entertaining Ile Nastase. After he retired from the main play I always watched him playing in the veterans. Such fun!! No matter who is on I prefer to watch a close match than one where the result is entirely predictable. Ken Rosewall is such a gent.
