Some people are unbelievable

This is very general but as I understand it, dishwashers use from 4 to 6 gallons of water per cycle depending on the rating of the machine. Running a tap for a minute emits about 2 gallons of water. Hand-washing up three meals a day is likely to use more water than one machine cycle. You have to factor in energy costs (and detergent) to get a better picture of overall economy and efficiency but I'd say a machine is better ... and much more hygenic.

When I buy appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines I generally buy the most energy efficient and never give them a second thought. I buy them to use not so that I can use the sink to wash by hand. I only water pots in the garden, I don't even have grass. I do hose down the patio every day as I don't want the smell of sun baked dog pee wafting around. I have no clue how often my neighbours water they're garden, it's none of my business. I don't wash my car but I take it to a hand car wash sometimes. I shower rather than bathe from choice, nothing to do with conseving water. I pay about £75 a month just to use water so I think I'm entitled to use it but not waste it and I have no plans to change my view on that.
