Solitaire I do understand that mixture of pride and the fear of 'what if's.....', but it's a kind think your grandson did and you're right to be proud.

You must be so proud of your caring grandson Solitaire what a great human being he has become, his parents should be proud as well.
Of course we see the dangers in that situation but we need people like him.

No wonder you are proud of your grandson but really it could have ended so differently... a 14 year old looking after a drunk? Not ideal really. This old man needs to realise he cannot go out and get so drunk for starters and do you know why the middle aged man was giving him a hard time? Was the older man abusive to start with? Just saying....

Thankfully all ended well. And yes, I would be proud that he had so much care and compassion about him....only sometimes it can backfire and I think that is why people are reluctant to get involved in the case of drunks tbh

I posted this on our local streetlife and got some lovely replies so thought I'd post it here too:

I'm so proud of my 14 year old grandson who last night intervened when a middle aged man was abusing an older man on the metro train.
My grandson accompanied the older man off the metro, realising he was quite drunk and twice prevented him from walking in front of traffic.
My grandson asked several passers by for help as he needed to get home and couldn't leave the man.
His phone had died and he couldn't ring me or answer me when I phoned him. No-one would help, they all just walked on.
My grandson is 6 feet tall and a rugby player, so perhaps people thought he was older and knew the man?
Finally 3 men and a woman stopped to help and took care of the man.
