Came home around five after a good day, little shopping, pick up library books, saw dgds in from school, chatted with them, dd got in from work, handed over reins to her, spaniel and I wandered home, only next road, thought large rhubarb gin, my current favourite, in the garden before I think about dinner, two doors down have several children, nice kiddies, have their paddling pool out having a lovely time, but the screaming!!! Why do some children have to scream so bl....y loud all the time, poked my head over the fence, all low, saw the mum said was it possible they could possibly tone down the screaming, sorry love she said, I’ll turn the music up so you won’t hear the little b.....ds so much, I now have Jon Bon jovie, think that’s who it is, in my sitting room with me, the vibrations are making the whole house shake, mind you, can’t hear the children screaming!! This is also the neighbour who when told by another neighbour that her dog had just deposited a large pooh outside her house, said ok love its all yours, do what you want with it. I should have known better, am now going to take the dog over the fields for a very very long walk!

Ha ha think twice before saying anything next time, sometimes it’s just not worth the aftermath ??

Mind you, I think the other neighbour would have been justified in moving the turd to the dog-owner's doorstep, saying, "You told me I could do what I liked with it."

MrBaggs, a zoologist, maintains that the screaming of kids is proof that we are top predators. The offspring of prey animals keep quiet.

Not that that's much comfort in the circs, nls!

Kids and animals are great.
Its parents 'the human variety' that can be the problem.hmm

Kids do scream a lot. No idea why? I ask mine to tone it down all the time but they don’t seem able to do it! Have had lots of garden parties in the good weather. Heaven knows what the neighbors think of the noise. The only thing I can say is they are all away in bed by 7 pm. So unless the noise is going on into an unreasonable hour I think you just need to invest in ear plugs with or without music.

As for the dog scenario- very rude. But you get the kind of person you are up against?

As a teacher I thought I was used to the noise children make at playtime, but walking through Brighton once came unawares on a school hidden behind a high wall. It sounded as though several tribes were murdering each other.
I don't know why they have to scream so much or so loudly either.

The screaming seems to be of this time. I am sure that when ours were small, they didn't scream. Admittedly they are now 55, 53, and 43. But, I do remember when I was at school, in the dark ages, that no shouing was allowed, screaming would have been beyond the pale. ?

I can remember my mum telling a group of us to stop screaming - we weren't even aware we were doing it. I think it's something kids have always done . I'm 63.

The neighbourhood children we were mostly seen and not heard within the environs of the houses when I was growing up, but I do remember some children used to play very loudly in the nearby fields. My own children weren't screamers, but two of my grandsons can be a bit loud sometimes; usually an indicator of them needing some direction. hmm

Oh yes kids did usedto scream always did we had a school nearby and if the wind was in the right direction you could always hear the screams

We have a child care centre next door - it happens at every play time. Doesn't bother me - they are having fun and I can ignore it .
