Yes it is a scam I had one last week so went on the B.T. website and had a "live chat" with an advisor who confirmed that it was a scam.
The scammers told me that my internet was compromised and that my security was at risk, so they must use slightly different lies to tell.

We have had this one countless times and just ignore it.

My husband has a response to such calls....he says, if this is a genuine call you will have all my details so please send me a letter with this information.
We also invested in a caller ID system on our land line....it lets us know if its from abroad so we always ignore.

Had one this morning, obviously a call from abroad and I'm not even with BT. Deffo a scam.

Thank you all. You've confirmed my suspicions.
GrannyGravy13--I would phone BT if they ever answered calls!!

We keep getting that call. Ignore it.

Definitely a scam. We've had one a day for weeks and ignored them. We're still connected.

Yep its a scam so are the e-mails saying they are closing your account.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 29-Jun-18 16:38:33

You could always phone BT help line to check, and report at the same time.

I find it really depressing when all these scams come floating in. My instinct is to trust people; but of course I can't and don't.

Thank you annsixty. That's reassuring for me.

Menopaws Fri 29-Jun-18 16:31:51

I wouldn't

I have had one every day this week, all from a different number.

I have twice had a phone call (automated) purporting to be from BT saying that the internet connection will be cut off within 24-48 hours and press 1 to be connected to an engineer. My super suspicious mind won't allow me to respond to any unexpected land line call these days, so has anyone else had one of these calls and are they genuine or another nasty scam? Any help appreciated!
