MEDICAL BULLETIN FROM A HAPPY GAGA

The five hours spent at the hospital this morning proved well worthwhile. After lots of tests and repeating my story several times (why?) and eventually having a gel-covered leg from groin to ankle I had an ultrasound scan. Joy of joys - no clot!

I still have a leg which is bigger than the other and is still red and sore at the lower end but apparently this is venous insufficiency and often happens to older ladies. I am instructed to elevate my legs whenever possible, keep out of the hot sun and keep very well hydrated. Oh and to stop the Apixaban blood thinner. Been doing the first three for some time but hey ho - maybe it will get back to normal in due course?

One very happy Gaga is about to partake of a Magnum - and one for my DH who patiently sat and did his crosswords during the long waits. He is a treasure and it's our 53rd wedding anniversary tomorrow!

soop I am delighted that MacSporran has seen the error of his ways and that the pair of you will be off for a relaxing trip in a couple of months.

Ann please do not feel guilty- you deserve a medal. I hope that you have next week mapped out and you will also get plenty of rest.

N&G the boys look great in their England attire- I am assuming that they will be allowed to watch the match? They are also growing so quickly.

Greyd I am glad that you pointed out which child was your DH. At least they both looked as though they were enjoying themselves.

There is less bright sun here today but it is so muggy it is horrible.

I bought a fan for Tara, switched it on in my bedroom last night- she sniffed it and and then flopped down on the landing, totally uninterested. The fan is smaller than I should have bought but totally silent. I switched it off after a couple of hours.

Soop glad you and MacS have made your peace over the anniversary trip. And Torben looks a little charmer! We know all about those here!

We enjoyed the company of our Jekyll and Hyde GS this weekend. He was a lovely, helpful, good mannered and relatively quiet eleven year old until his parents turned up and then he was like a hyperactive puppy that you want to keep putting firmly in his basket! DH did get the water guns out (he is the big kid on the right!), which I hoped would have cooled both of them down!

N&G the boys look very cool in their England shirts. I did say to DH that if they won on Saturday I would relent and let him get a flag for the car ?‍♀️ but thus far he has been unable to find one! ??

Ann as others have said, make the most of every minute you have to do your own thing and don’t feel guilty about it!

Thinks: ? if you put strawberries in a gin and tonic does it count as one of your five a day? Answers on a postcard please...... I will look in later .

Panache I'm sorry to hear that you are in great discomfort. When do you next visit the GP?

ann Terribly sad for a marriage to end in such a tragic manner. I cannot imagine how surviving members of the family must feel.

Oh happy day! Ta dah...

After wittering on about my silly disappointment, I waited until MacSporran and I raised our early evening glass of cheer and said...I'm very disappointed that the hoped for few days away to celebrate our anniversary will have to wait until the spring. Before I had time to finish, MacS took my hand and replied, I'm sorry that you're disappointed. It was just me thinking that spring might be a better time of year for going up into the Highlands. On reflection, I was wrong. We shall have our break and we shall enjoy it to the full. I wore a huge and that was that. Thank you for being kind enough to respond. As I've already said, in the big scheme of things, it's a piddlin' thing to get upset about. for you all.

This is going to be uncomfortable reading for some people but yesterday, locally to us, a man of 85 was charged with murdering his wife of 86.
My first thought was to wonder if she had dementia.

soop sorry about my previous post when I said £20 was underpaid for 2 ½ hours ironing. Reading it back it doesn't come out as I intended. I should have put a at the end. What I meant was that I hate ironing so much I couldn't imagine doing others ironing at any cost. I didn't mean it offensively ?I do hope you have a special trip for your anniversary. You and MacSporrandeserve something nice.

I shall do that next week aggie I have a weeks respite.
I feel guilt at how much I am looking forward to it.

Those boys are enjoying the football N&G I just hope England can pull it off, but also that the fans don't get carried away.
soop I also now wonder if your DH is planning something special, but if it making you unsettled I think you should pursue it so you have something to look forward to.
It is my afternoon out so I am planning what to do, it will include some retail therapy.

Panache it all sounds really miserable. In the south it will be slightly cooler tomorrow. I hope that drop in temperature reaches Wales and you can enjoy some respite.

soop further to what I said last evening...........and it seems echoed by the majority visiting the kitchen,Macsporran may well have his own Anniversary plans for you both but is keeping you in the dark............so please try discreetly digging deeply into what he has or may have planned.
As for a September break,no better month and were you wanting to travel further afield from bonny Scotland I can vouch for September here in Pembrokeshire as being idyllic..............mind you,who on earth would want to travel out of Scotland .........although yes my husband did!!!

No gin for me folks,even strawberries are not quite my thing,but I am scoffing cherries and nectarines as if there is no tomorrow.......whilsy I have been known to sneak another magnum during the night!!!

With the heat truly upsetting my equilibrium and everything else, I have been forced to visit the Surgery with these legs that are so swoollen they are puffing over my sandals,a Nora Batty touch............whilst the moment I lie down at night ...........not only the heat getting to me but I am trotting to the loo non stop...............well this fluid has to have some outlet after all!!!

Before I totally melt into a puddle I shall escape, but not before wishing you all a carefree day.....and those with cares may they be little ones only........ and yes more

From a slightly overcast and not so sultry Norfolk.

I agree with everyone else soop , if you have set your heart on a sept trip then you should go. I am away the last week in September ( my annual trip with my brothers and sisters) and its usually quite nice late summer weather .

Its true though , maybe MacS has something tucked up his sleeve???

You have worked hard for this treat. I cannot imagine dear MacSporran would want you to be disappointed.

Gin is safe from me, the strawberries are another matter.

Hmm, soop, I understand your disappointment and frustration and my first thought was hold out for September which is a superb month for a holiday. I then wondered if macs has indeed something up his sleeve. So what to do? If it happened here I would remind Mr C I thoroughly dislike surprises (true) then let that thought settle for a bit. If nothing came of that I’d casually wonder in front of good friends what we might do on our anniversary and look out for either smugness or guilt, if no further forward I’d explain (in an adult way, no foot stamping) why it meant so much to be away in September. After that I’ve no idea, sorry. I know you’ll deal with this calmly and the word that comes to mind is elegantly. Everything crossed here for the outcome you wish for.

greyd you deserve a medal. We were in the kitchen for all of 30 minutes today, gammon in the slow cooker dealt with itself and the veg took little time. I wouldn’t have managed more wimp that I am.

Thoroughly enjoyed my sit in the garden. Tomorrow I have coffee and lunch with a GN pal to look forward to, I know we won’t stop talking.

Well it is no good us telling you how good it is, you obviously are not missing anything.

I have never tasted a G&T in my life- I prefer coffee.

I have had my G&T with cucumber tonight and very nice it was.
I will try the strawberry tip on Wed which is my next scheduled drinking day..... if I don't weaken before then.

B****r Jane! Why didn’t you post that before we ate all the strawberries for dessert, and I poured my first gin and tonic??

Can I tell you about a new delight? Before you pour your G&T, slice a strawberry, pour the gin over and leave to marinate for a few minutes before you add the ice, tonic etc. Oh my days!

soop I really feel your disappointment and I agree, September is the perfect month to go anywhere.

I also agree with Ann we do not know what is around the corner and spring is a long way away. A small break away in September would set you up for winter. I do think that you must tell MacSporran how you feel.

Cruise through the Crinan canal? The Trossachs? Further North Stonehaven got a wonderful write up in yesterday’s Telegraph and everybody knows September is possibly one of the very best months in Scotland- heather and all that!
