Spot on Doodle! Glad to see life in Mr 60 too. I went to see 92 year old aunt today in a care home. Lots of ladies with twin “babies” which I had to rock while they went to the loo! My Aunt speaks very slowly but still has her marbles - very forthright on the subject of Mr Trump! Sadly she has no other resident to talk to.

Thank you for the enquiries about GS2. I went to DDs straight from work yesterday to lend a hand. Poor little chap looks like Voldemort, but by the time I arrived he had recovered most of his usual bounce. The dentist has advised great care over the next week or two while the teeth settle....soft foods only, and avoid all possible knocks.
GS1 is being very sweet in his levels of caution. The patient, on the other hand, is irrepressible!
Apparently the teeth may turn black, which is not a nice thought.

I came home exhausted, and today is another work day....straight home afterward though, as S-i-L is back this evening.
Off now, to walk the horrible hounds before work.

`Morning kitchen people.........from what appears to be the making of a pleasant day here on the west coast.

Not bad thinking about requiring a family to purchase our property Charley.....plenty of room for youngsters and their pets,but in the main we seem to be getting retirees.

One poor pine tree stump has been retracted and hopefully that is the final loss brought about by "The beast of the east" and this tremendous prolonged heat...........at the rate of lost trees we shall soon be bare!
We were saddened by this last one at some 14' tall it was quite majestic.It was fine 2 weeks ago and then almost overnight started going brown........and was burnt to cinder in a week.

I have a Dental appointment to "look forward" to....just a filling and then perhaps,hopefully I shall be joining in with you Soop........free until the New year......which has just made me realise that it is NOT a million miles away........Already august so summer is fast fading on us.

I'm new on here - was the Baileys that drew me in !- but wanted to say to Ann you have all my sympathy. I had my mother living with me for nine years and, although padded well up (as instructed by district nurse) I still had la undry/carpet issues every morning. But pads were supplied - this was 7 years ago so don't know if times have changed. Also Panache -hang in there! Took us some time to sell our big old farmhouse but it did happen eventually and we are now ensconced in our bungalow within easy reach of shops doctors etc -oh and DD's and GC's!

Good morning the kitchen. Surf’s up at Crantock and the sun is shining! The apartment is beyond lovely and no detail has been spared to make it so. GS and DH had the indoor pool to themselves for a early game of volleyball this morning and I sat on a lounger and watched them. I will try it out tomorrow (but not for volleyball - everyone is doing energetic things except me this week and that is the way it is staying!). I will look in later. I am required to go “exploring”!

Indeed there is no fun for our dear "Ann" and those in this situation,I nursed my terminally ill foster mother and though not incontinent she haemorhaged on almost every day for 7 whole months.......we also had an almost white shag pile carpet throughout our bungalow at the time, but a miracle prevailed,even that and her funeral left not a trace within...........but yes it was a different story with the pain and worry of the nursing.Our hearts go out to Ann

Nannytopsy The care home that I visit has baby dolls and a wee pram. There was one lady, now deceased, who derived a great deal of pleasure from dressing the doll and taking it for walks from room to room.

I've to do my usual Wednesday ironing duty this afternoon. Four until six thirty. This means that my pal's dogs are not alone during her visit to the cinema.

Feeling a bit down today, after a visit from an estate agent to value our bungalow. His estimate was way below the expected price, and would make it difficult if not impossible to go for the houses we had in mind. Oh well, another EA is coming tomorrow so it will be interesting to see if her estimate is similar to today’s.

The blackcurrant jelly is made, but sadly there was only one jar, so if you could save a little for my DH, who requested it in the first place

We took DGS and dogs to Stanwick Lakes yesterday. There is lots to keep children amused, not the least is water to splash in and large slides to come down. Whilst eating an ice cream before leaving, he turned to me (ice cream dripping down his arm and going everywhere)and said “it’s nice having ice cream isn’t it?). I couldn’t disagree!

I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling disappointed with the estate agent's estimate. I know very well how that feels. Our lovely wee home is worth a pittance. We certainly couldn't afford to sell and buy something even smaller. It wouldn't be worth the upheaval. However, the second opinion may be more promising. Hang in there.
I like the story of the ice cream dripping down your grandson's arm. Why not. He enjoyed it. That's what counts.

I’m tired of being a grumpy Corner but sorry to say I am. Been let down three times this week by repair people/tradesmen. Think there’s some sort of force field around us stopping access. It seems our time is of no value.

Don’t despair nonna, other opinions may be different. Are there similar local properties you can compare yours to and make your own assessment? If so ask the EA to justify their opinion should they vary dramatically. Loved the ice cream description.

Oh corner you and my DH could commiserate with each other. The number of times he waited in for someone who promised they would turn up only for it all to be in vain. Why do people do this. It's not as if we don't have mobile phones now. They could let you know ?

The charming young man from our local craft Brewery brought the mixed case of products this morning, as arranged, for DH's 76th birthday present on Sunday. I had to think where to hide it as there is no obvious spot.

I remember the phrase "hidden in full view" so have put it behind one of the sofas in the sitting room and it is out of sight unless "someone" actually goes behind the sofa. That is unlikely.

I like him to have a nice surprise on his birthday but that gets harder to do as the years go by.

corner It's downright rude to make an appointment and then not to turn up or phone to say that it needs to be shifted. It's as if your time is of no value. Folk who do such things should pay a fine.

We've had a couple of iffy phone calls. Callers claim to be from a nuisance number type outfit. We went along for a wee while, because we are plagued by nuisance calls even though we've asked several times not to be contacted. The moment the caller asked for debit card details, we slammed the phone down.

Doodle she probably would. If not her 2 yr old brother would probably beat sense into them!

Thanks to all who have posted about getting incontinence pads free. The nurse has been round this evening with samples for me to try. Also as a result of her visit on Monday a psychiatrist is visiting next Monday to assess "us" , I will see what comes of that.
I do not have high hopes of anything coming out of the visit but I may be surprised, this is all in respect of my requesting some sort or sedative for his extreme anxiety and dreadful sleep pattern which I have been requesting for 6 months now.

ann I found it strange that GP were reluctant to give my DB any sedatives or something for his anxiety and sleeplessness. They said it was in case it caused falls. I can accept that but what about the carers. The loving family like you who have to struggle on with little or no sleep themselves and at the same time look after their loved ones.

Trying to catch up with today's activity and general chat. But my eyelids are closing as I type. Went to lunch at a pub restaurant just a few miles down the road - not strong on veggie food, so fortunate that I eat fish. They do excellent fruit crumbles and I couldn't resist today's apple and blackberry offering. I can feel my waistline (what waistline? ) expanding even now! Just hosted a meeting of NWR programme planning group - lots of ideas and everyone talking at once! But we got the job done!
And so to bed
