A belated Happy Birthday Ann, hope you got your 40 winks!

NanaandGrampy Thu 12-Jul-18 16:54:46

Afternoon All!!

First things first, Happy, Happy Birthday Ann !!!! Sounds like a good day all round. We had a carvery for lunch and you will be pleased to know we raised a glass to you !!

Beautiful pictures Grannie !

Grey where are the pictures of you in your new fetching trainers???? I too am a huge sketchers fan. I wear Nike gel sole flip flops for summer, most comfortable EVER and sketchers for the winter !

Jackson , whilst sad at England's defeat has obviously given it some consideration and created this new shield for us all to display...you can see quite clearly who he blames for the failure to win !!! :-)

We shall be absent from the kitchen for the weekend as we have the pleasure of the little boys company as their other Nanny is off to have a hip replacement or if Cooper is to be believed ---a new leg!!!!

Hope you all have a sunny days, with a gentle breeze and ample supply of magnums whilst we are gone xx

MissAdventure Thu 12-Jul-18 16:33:15

Happy birthday, Ann.
Glad to hear your lunch out went so well.
Hopefully you're taking a lovely nap now.
Nappy birthday? smile

kittylester Thu 12-Jul-18 16:29:02

I've just popped in to wish Ann a belated 'Happy Birthday' and I'm glad your bravery was rewarded and the DH behaved! wine

Lots of lovely photos to see. Especially the ones of small people and younger people!

It's really busy at the Lester house currently so I'll leave you all with best wishes for a peaceful night for all.

Back eventually!

Panache thanks but I do not think that I will need the blanket. I am now eating again and it is a lot cooler here in London. It will improve I believe within a few days, before or after the hurricane I cannot remember.

I agree soop I would like to see the other girl whose name escapes me win for the same reasons as your own. Even Serena said that she had won the trophy so many times.

soop Thu 12-Jul-18 15:02:42

Lovely photos yet again, granniequeenie

I'm about to watch Serena play an important tennis match. I may be rooting for her opponent. I would enjoy seeing new faces at the final.

Panache Thu 12-Jul-18 14:46:39

Renew................Not reknew!

Panache Thu 12-Jul-18 14:45:51

Ann......Am truly thrilled hearing of your successful pub lunch,H included.......and why not enjoy getting treated.....you will only be this age once!!!

Me thinks I need to reknew that welsh wool blanket Charley if you are still feeling cold.......although to be fair the weather is cooler.

Such a lovely "before" picture Soop and I bet you treasure each one.Happy birthday to your son btw.

However enjoyed a little walk although saddened to see all the greenery like straw, and quite crisp to walk on.Feels a bit like an early Autumn............perish the thought whilst only almost mid July!
Enjoying the sunshine though..... before that forecasted hurricane arrives!
That will truly upset our bands of "Happy Campers".......but they have certainly had a fair run,but no harm in hoping for yet some more eh??

Charleygirl Thu 12-Jul-18 14:33:16

Ann happy birthday- sounds a good day so far- an excellent idea to go out for a pub lunch- I think that fish and chips would be my choice also.

Have you planned next week yet or do you intend to catch up with sleep?

That is my 3rd load of washing out- where does it come from? I may settle down and wash some tennis and possibly turn down the sound if the grunters and screamers are on today.

annsixty Thu 12-Jul-18 14:17:45

Thank you all for your very kind greetings.
I am having a very nice day actually, lots of nice gifts ( let us be kind to the old lady) and as my GD is here we decided to be adventurous and we took H out for a pub lunch.
He really enjoyed it, fish and chips for him, and was very well behaved, result all round.
I had a glass of wine and am now rather tired.
Maybe I can grab 40 winks.

Doodle Thu 12-Jul-18 14:09:56

soop Thu 12-Jul-18 12:41:18

Charleyg grin and loud chuckles...

soop Thu 12-Jul-18 12:40:14

Wasn't that match between Raffa and Juan a tremendous treat (for we who were watching). Wow! Almost FIVE hours of play. Wonderful! I was sad that Roger lost his match. However, the winner won in style and deserved the accolade.

soop Thu 12-Jul-18 12:37:20

Happy birthday to Ann
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday dear Ann
And lots of love from us lot. flowers sunshine wine

It also happens to my firstborn's 57th birthday today. A very special occasion. Here is a pic taken a few years ago...when we woz very much younger.

Charleygirl Thu 12-Jul-18 10:04:26

I even have a cardigan on as it is cool here. I did write last night but Tara decided to walk across the keyboard and deleted it. I had been watching the football and tennis- no mean feat and was delighted to see Kevin Anderson win and was disappointed to see Del Potro lose.

I am waiting for two parcels. one from Amazon and the other via Royal Mail. No doubt both drivers will be expecting me to be sitting behind the door, knitting, waiting for them.

JaneD3 Thu 12-Jul-18 09:51:13

Happy Birthday Ann! Another cool morning so getting some dead heading (and dead plant removing) done.

annodomini Thu 12-Jul-18 09:16:37

Happy Birthday Ann. ? flowers wine

cornergran Thu 12-Jul-18 08:23:10

Just popped in to wish ann a very happy birthday. Hope there is something today to lift your spirits and make you smile.

I’ll be missing now until the weekend, manic day today and off across the water to a family funeral tomorrow. Anticipate a long day.

Take care everyone. Hugs to those who need one and a big smile to those with things to celebrate.

Panache Thu 12-Jul-18 08:21:09

`Morning all..........

Bowled over by the handsome photos of all your lads, they certainly look ready for action!!!

Whilst loving your shots of your reservoir walk GQ......mouth warering stuff and I would think these places must be running low?

We have been warned that we have the tail end of hurricane Chris to "look forward to"....coming over from the east coast of the USA........Wales and the West have warnings in place.
Another sort of..... "From the sublime to the ridiculous" I suppose, but quite frankly, seeing more than one of our well mature pine trees actually browning off is quite heartbreaking..........planted by our own fair hands some 14 years ago.
Whilst all grassy areas around are brittle and straw like.

Now your talking Greyduster..........heather,I love it and we have lots planted here simply as a good ground cover........but nothing as beautiful as a mountain or moorland walk where the whole area is my favourite haze of purple.
Whilst talking about these pink sketchers..... again I say I will willingly take them off you!!!
But come on,live a little!!
Remember my DH`s sweet peas that got nibbled at the roots? Well the one surviving plant is a real picture of pale shades of lilac, clusters of blooms similar to a smaller version of a wisteria...............it would have truly been a siught had all plants survived.

Ann a very Happy and a laid back birthday has been ordered just for you!.......I will share a glass of wine anytime!!

I think it time to make the most of what this day can offer, having had some sleep on two nights you will hopefully note I am reviving...............and here to havebmy penny`s worth!!

Enjoy your day my kitchen friends.

Greyduster Thu 12-Jul-18 07:56:20

Well it was a shame about the football. DH said he had hoped that as our generation had seen a winning World Cup England team in their lifetime, it would be nice for our children and their children to see it too. I am so disappointed for Teddy, Soop - with an outfit and a smile like that he deserved to see a win! He is delicious!
N&G I see we have found the next 007 in Jackson - he definitely looks the part, and I know he is usually neither shaken nor stirred!
Happy Birthday to you ann ??. I hope you get the chance to have a nice glass of something grin!
Maw I would gladly swap your trainers for mine, they look great, but I have been told that I have to wear them as a sort of bright colours aversion therapy! I still haven’t taken the labels off!!
Gq aren’t our reservoirs low at the moment? You have to walk quite a distance now to get a line anywhere near the water, so God help you if you’ve left anything in the car - it’s half a day’s hike!! You have reminded me that heather should be out on our moors soon. That’s always something to look forward to.
We have school run this afternoon and then this evening GS and his ma and pa are off down to London. They have number one court tickets tommorrow and then the World Athletics championships on Saturday. As the boy’s SATS results and end of term report were an embarrassment of riches, Grandad was rather over generous with his monetary reward and got into trouble with DD. Is he chastened? Not in the slightest! To GS’s credit, he did try and refuse it, but caved in in the end (like yer do if you are a sensible small boy!).
Well, I will look in later and catch up with anyone I have missed!

grannyqueenie Thu 12-Jul-18 00:13:58

Photos of excited boys, beautiful babies and sparkling shoes, it’s all very exciting in this kitchen. Hope you stick with the pink trainers greyduster, they sound great fun! I would love to have some Sketchers but can’t seem to find any that feel quite right for me. I live in Fitflops in the summer and walking sandals for trekking about, not exactly glamorous but comfort is all!
It’s been a busy day with another to come tomorrow, so here I am tired but wide awake....haven’t the stamina just now to catch up on all the news, but wish you all well. I’ll leave you with some photos of Tuesdays refreshing reservoir walk. Blue skies with interesting cloud formations, vibrant Lady’s Mantle along the pathway not to mention some very surprised faces as I turned a corner!

Fennel Wed 11-Jul-18 21:16:35

Maw I love my Skechers too. I have 5 pairs, different types and colours.
I went into the Skechers shop in Eldon Square yesterday and was horrified at the prices. You can buy them online much cheaper, though sometimes not the size you need.

Doodle Wed 11-Jul-18 20:34:55

Hope you have a good evening ann

Lovely photos of all the 'kitchen' baby and young boys. soop Where is young Mihla ( nope I've Know I've got that wrong sorry) is your great granddaughter not a football fan soop

annsixty Wed 11-Jul-18 19:04:05

I just love baby Teddy, he is such a character.
I hope he is grinning because he knows we are going to win.
I had a lovely lunch out today, courtesy of my Thursday friend but as I get sitting on Wed, today it was.
We are now sitting watching the first few kicks, so with everything crossed I wish us all a good and successful evening.
