Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good pals and jolly good company.
Never mind the weather
Never mind the rain?
As long as we're together
Here we go again...
Welcome and please feel free to open the Bubbly and tuck into a virtual Magnum choc ice. smile

Hello ?
I am new, so hoping a "new kitchen" may be a comfortable spot to settle and take in the atmosphere!

kittylester Sun 29-Jul-18 09:30:20

Err, welcome! Are you actually new or just a reincarnation!

Er, hi topsy. I hope you hip feels better.

I'm confused and going for a lie down.

Charleygirl Sun 29-Jul-18 09:42:13

Welcome, I am trying desperately to keep up and I have not succeeded.

Rain came to London overnight- I still have not seen it and judging from the ground there was not a lot. It is dull and grey outside so with luck I may see this mysterious rain.

soop is that young Teddy or have I lost the plot as usual?

ChaosIncoporated Sun 29-Jul-18 09:46:24

Technically a reincarnation, kitty ... but not in a devious way.
I subscribed briefly about five years ago, when the site was relatively new, and had no memorable reason for leaving other than the general chaos of life.

What made me seem familiar?

kittylester Sun 29-Jul-18 11:03:59

Nothing made you seem familiar but it was after topsy appeared so it must have been in my head! Anyway, hi and enjoy the kitchen - did you bring cake?!

Nannytopsy Sun 29-Jul-18 11:06:07

Welcome back Chaos. You had left before I found GN but no matter! How odd to be in the house looking out at the rain! Very welcome though.

Panache Sun 29-Jul-18 11:34:00

My mind is chaotic eniugh and now even more so!!!! but a warm welcome back to you Chaos...(I am relatively new) and Topsy same to you as we haven`t met yet.

With you all the way Kitty and Charley........I was confused enough eralier and totally unable to keep up so decided I had best go and lie down in a darkened room!!!

Once I had sort of "been in and gone" not for the first time in comes our GreyD with her usual long speel......and I think some carrot cake is in the making??
It will be long gone before your long trip to Cornwall .....I am sure Pembrokeshire would have been less of a strain!
Although you could not wave to Corner on your journey!!
Hope the weather clears up for your journey and time down in that gorgous neck of the universe................

Now I think I need to clear my head some more......

NonnaW Sun 29-Jul-18 11:53:40

We were invited to a neighbour’s bbq yesterday which was lovely, chance for a catch up with some people we don’t often see. It was quite windy, then is got cooler, and then the rains came. Raining again this morning, which will help the gardens, and I know the cooler temperatures will be much welcomed by many.

I’ve started making the blackcurrant jelly from fruit picked from the garden (last time if we go ahead with the downsizing hmm), so when it’s done (tomorrow some time) I’ll leave a jar on the side. Also got a loaf of Parmesan & sun-dried tomato bread on the go, if anyone is interested?

Nannytopsy Sun 29-Jul-18 12:10:48

We have met Panache - I changed my name as I felt too recognisable!

Fennel Sun 29-Jul-18 12:20:26

Nona and Nana andGrampy - you have given me hope!
We still have lots of boxes to find homes for, but it's only one and a half months.
Trouble is, we have very useful storage areas off the sloping bedroom ceilings, so it's tempting just to shove the boxes in there and forget about them. Then we keep wondering where such and such is.

Panache Sun 29-Jul-18 12:29:11

Nonna having given you a blow by blow account of how we tackled a massive down sizing which I hope has helped you rather than hindered......I think I must be in line for some of your delicious sounding home made goodies??!

You have now confused me yet more Topsy.......mind you it is a sunday and I am a bit weather beaten!!!!

Greyduster Sun 29-Jul-18 12:57:44

Panache Pembrokeshire would certainly have been less of a strain, but the siren call is my GS, and he is in Cornwall! Banana and walnut brownie will be out of the oven in ten; carrot cake to follow! ?. And what do you know! It has stopped raining!

soop Sun 29-Jul-18 13:22:00

Welcome Nannytopsy Have you caught up with this lot yet? I haven't. It would take a dose of some magic potion to read through reams of posts. I love this kitchen. I wander in for a quiet chat and finish up thinking how lucky we are to have each other to confide in.

We've had the strong gusty wind and plenty of rain. The burn is gurgling with glee.

soop Sun 29-Jul-18 13:25:00

Welcome ChaosIncorporated...it's good to have you back. I like the name. Settle down and relax.

Nannytopsy Sun 29-Jul-18 13:46:59

Panache - look back to the early hours and you will see I made a right mess of quietly changing my name!

ChaosIncorporated Sun 29-Jul-18 15:27:06

.....and it is still raining!
kitty, I can offer three slices of stale marmalade loaf, or a tin of maple pecan fudge.
soop, I have a feeling yours is one name I recall from my previous brief dip into chatting online. Which must make you memorable, as I couldn't even recall the old username! It was at a very sad time, when gransnet displayed the best of itself in the hunt for a missing poster in the Alps.

soop Sun 29-Jul-18 16:18:17

Nonna I bags a slice of your Parmesan & sun-dried tomato bread (with creamy rich butter) and I will sample your jam. It all sounds very much to my liking.

It's a sticky day. Humid. I've changed the bed linen and done a large pile of ironing. I'm all aglow. hmm

ChaosIncorporated That was GreatGran (I believe), she kept us lot amused with her poems. It was an awful time when she was missing. A terrible shock when she was discovered. sad

ChaosIncorporated Sun 29-Jul-18 16:30:06

Yes, that name rings a bell. I remember it being an awful shock when worst fears were confirmed.
Wherever she is looking down from, I suspect it is with a broad grin that the nattering has continued.
The site has certainly grown a lot since tben!

Doodle Sun 29-Jul-18 16:33:11

That was before my time on GN but I have heard a lot about GreatGran. Sorry I missed her poems.

soop those babies are so cuddly and cute. Have you started calling them Prince and Princess to be in keeping with your new status in life. Love the crown by the way. Hope the butler is taking good care of you?

Welcome chaos and topsy. Nice to meet you......be even nicer if you'd bring some cake like kitty said...hint hint grin

ChaosIncorporated Sun 29-Jul-18 16:47:53

I've offered the leftover marmalade loaf!

cornergran Sun 29-Jul-18 16:57:42

Quick float in. So much rain. No, not complaining, just commenting smile

Very confused by nannytopsy’s reincarnation and the return of chaosinc. Wish I’d thought of that name, it suits my world.

In any case very good afternoon to you both. I’m dreadfully slow at working out changes, any hints?

Sorry, everyone can’t manage proper cake this afternoon but there’s an awful lot of lemon cheesecake with chocolate bits (technical term) on top that I need saving from. If anyone can help?

soop Sun 29-Jul-18 16:59:56

Doodle Jest ye not. I may be a VIP - minus the large Estate and Manor and family fortune befitting my station in life. wink

ChaosInc I think that it may have been GreatNan She was a very spirited and adventurous lady.

Time for me to take to my chair and read the newspaper. Is there any good news do you know? Wouldn't it be wonderful to read of peace, love, friendship and all that goes with it. hmm

Back with you in the morning. Take good care. smile moon

Panache Sun 29-Jul-18 17:36:11

Having said more than enough for one day I am about to close up for the night..........however.......
Before I leave the kitchen may I ask you to join in with the celebrations...........The British team Sky has produced yet another winner for this year`s Tour de France...........as I am Welsh born and bred, I am sure you will not mind me crowing very happily....... as the winner this year was our very own Welsh boy Geraint Thomas................Cheers lads on a superb effort and to you Geraint Hywl Fawr.............wine and more wine to share around with the kitchen gang.
Good night all and I hope your evening will be pleasant and peace reins supreme.

Charleygirl Sun 29-Jul-18 19:48:29

Fennel please do not pop the full boxes in the loft and forget about them. I did that when I moved into my last house and moved the boxes as they were to my present abode. I decided I was going to have an empty loft so I slowly emptied the boxes.

Whoever has the task of sorting out my house after I have joined the angels life will be easier for them.

Still no rain here today- very dull and miserable. Corner you have rain and delicious cake so Tara and I may pop in although she does not like rain.

cornergran Sun 29-Jul-18 21:09:38

I’ll be sure to wave back greyd. Safe trip on Tuesday. I’m guessing you’ll be using the M5. Please be careful, it’s a very accident prone place in the last few days. Summer madness sadly.

Have a wonderful visit. Cornwall is beautiful.
