Oh dear I hope Mr Baggs likes ham sandwiches or it’s going to be a very long week....?

There’s nothing worse than cook8ng food that other people, but not you, know that they don’t want! I remember years ago as a constantly vomiting pregnant young wife battling my way home from work on the London Underground on a stifling summers evening to cook a meal for a friend of dh’s who was staying with us for a few days. When the friend eventually turned up he announced he really fancied fish and chips and set off to buy them for himself. Hormonal and tearful as I was it was all I could do not to throw the said meal in his face. It was a lesson well learned for dh who it has to be said despite his many other faults is pretty good about letting me know when he doesn’t need feeding!

Doodle, I've told him I'm not cooking anything else till the ham's eaten and if he dares to cook himself he had better wash up as well and not leave even the hint of a smudge on the hob.

Fennel, ah yes, doors (substitution). I have 'door' stories too ?

Baggs - I sympathise.
My husband tells me NOWT. Another example today - Someone turns up with a door he has ordered, never told me. He's out so I sign for it.
He returns - wrong door!
Tough - he has to sort it out.
Then sometimes he says " I did tell you"! No he didn't.

baggs will mrbaggs be given a bone while he's in the doghouse tonight or will you just assume he's had enough to eat

I can remember feeling similarly and justifiably aggrieved when guests from Germany (School exchanges when I would often host both teachers) would ring me at 6 to say they were staying out to eat (NOT you note inviting me to join them) so supper would go back in the fridge - again.

Baggs you may keep him, who else would have him? Does he not give a thought to the work that you do on his behalf?

It will definitely rain in London tomorrow because I had my car washed and polished today and tomorrow the inside will be valeted by a mobile company. If that does not bring rain I have no idea what else will!

MrBloodyBaggs is off work this week. He went out this morning without a word—standard practice; he finds communicating ordinary things difficult. I'm not angry about that although it is hard to live with.
He came back and said hello. Major achievement the saying a normal hello.
He managed not to tell me he didn't need any dinner tonight because he'd had a large lunch with his pal who's up in Glasgow from London at a conference.... pause for more snarling and growling....?... he managed not to tell me he needed no dinner as I took a ham joint and some baked potatoes out of the oven!! He claims he hadn't noticed the cooking smell while he was rooting around looking for the yogurt maker which, incidentally, was right in front of him in the cupboard he was looking in. He claims he was going to tell me when I started cooking.

Excuses, excuses! A text while he was out or a short informative sentence when he got home is all it would have taken. I only bloody cooked for his sake. I would've been (still will be) happy with soup and oatcakes.

Am I being unreasonable to feel pissed off? Taking it in one's stride is all very well UP TO A POINT. That point was passed today.

Rant over. I normally bottle these things up. My cork just flew today.

Fingers crossed for those results GreyD........I would think the hard pounding of a street vibrates far more than a softer footpath.

I did 25 mins on the exercise bike a short time ago. I'm sweating in a most unladylike manner. Need to freshen up before evening spent relaxing. It's been a wonderfully warm and sunny day. Rain forecast for tomorrow. The garden need it, as does the spring water supply up in yonder hill.

The last of the raspberries from the garden are on the side, ice cream in the freezer.
So far I’ve been freezing a lot of the raspberries as I pick them, now I’m looking for suggestions as to what to do with them.
I’ve also been freezing blackcurrants and almost have enough to make DH a few jars of blackcurrant jelly. He has fond memories of his DM making it, straining the fruit through a stocking! I’ve told him he can forget that.

I hope that Ann is out kicking up her heels!

I shall ring up tomorrow to find out whether the result of my X-ray is in, Panache. They said seven to ten days. It was not too troublesome, surprisingly, until I went out shopping yesterday and it seemed to be less happy with hard paving than rough Derbyshire walking, but I think painkillers helped with that! Still, needs must when the Devil drives! I shall just have to give up shopping !

We have an early morning brew as we sit in bed and watch the birds feed and marvel at the rich variety of the woodland shrubs and undergrowth. Out of nowhere, a mother deer strolled by and, after a short time, a tiny fawn hurtled after her. Then it scooted higher up in the woodland and did a circuit at very high speed. Followed by a second younger deer that took much the same path and the two played a game of chase. They moved at such speed, neither of us could get a photo of their antics. It was such a lovely sight. We are still smiling.

However I did go into panic mode GQ and Corner for though I like my technology I am frtightfully dumb when anything untoward happens,mind you this was truly scary and even my other half was far from being amused!!!

Schools breaking up here so no school runs but a lot more heading for the beach,the weather yesterday and today have been very reminiscent of years gone by,what I would term a real summers day,a pleasure to be out and about.

We have a resident bee!
It has found itself a little corner in our conservatory roof blinds and we have`nt the heart to disturb it,after all it is doi ng more good than harm.

With GC, eras begin and end all the time! Next year my youngest will finish primary school. Older ones will be taking exams for years and years until youngest leaves 6th form. By that time the older ones will be graduating! Senior DGD got there six years ago.

End of an era when they move up to “big” school isn’t it?

It's DGS1'S last week at primary school gd and I suspect he is going to find the change a shock and will be glad to have his Ma around even though he will be a big boy.

Hello the kitchen!
Gq your lovely photos reminded me of our trip to the Farne Islands - a wonderful experience for me as I have a thing for terns, and they were everywhere (and trying to give you a headache! I understood then why a man on the boat had been wearing a bowler hat!). We stayed in a cottage near Dunstanburgh. We went in what must have been the coldest June on record, though. I can’t remember being warm all week, but it was wonderful.
Corner that dhalia looks like Bishop of Llandaff. The bee seems to like it as much as I do! Still plenty of bees around here too. We had a walk in the Peak District on Tuesday and they were much in evidence on the last of the wild flowers in the hay meadows. I think they are hanging about waiting for the heather to come into flower. We need some rain soon, though - a lot of the moorland streams are drying up. The little rocky rill in the photo is usually gushing but is reduced to a trickle at the moment.
Tommorrow is GS’s last day at his junior school, so the end of an era. We will still be there for him when he comes home from school until he is old enough not to need a safety net (I’m thinking around the age of 21!! ) but that time will go by in a flash just as the last six years has done. We are taking him out for his tea prior to getting him to the school disco this evening, so no doubt there will be much time spent trying to look like a cool dude before we venture out ?!
Well, the day beckons and I have to move. I will look in later.

Lovely picture JaneD. I am beginning to have itchy feet as I've nothing fixed up for this summer. I have had a good many holidays with DS1 and family in recent years and become very fond of Provence. However said DS and wife have split up so I have to re-think my holiday plans. I'm caught in that singles trap! Thanks for the croissants Jane. I've helped myself. I've left some strawberries - first come first served. They won't last long this morning!

Right then, I must get myself up, I hear there may be another walk in the offing today. But I don’t really mind that prospect at all. I’m very blessed not only to have the health to tramp around, but also to have my old boy at my side to enjoy it all with.

Nothing so adventurous here. We managed a trip to an NT property we’ve wanted to visit for a while. Bit of a hike but worth it. Found this little creature in the centre of a dahlia in the garden.

The naughty books are so much fun with the children. You both looked to have enjoyed that one soop. Isn’t it strange how he memories come flooding back when prompted by an image.

That must be such a relief panache. I’d have been in serious panic mode. Good outcome for you.

The choice of writing practice made me laugh, nellie. Little boys certainly have a way with words .

Pleased to report Mr C was able to have ‘proper food’ today. No lettuce leaves charley. Probably because we had lunch out. It was a salad for me though, it’s OK, I whispered that.

Glad to hear your bug free panache, those kind of bugs are almost as worrying as the other sort. The trouble is much as I love, and enjoy using, technology I don’t really understand how any of it works. So when a problem arises I’m immediately worried, particularly that it’s something I’ve caused!

We’ve had a full day today, taking a boat trip to the Farne Islands was this mornings activity and what a treat it was too. Amazing bird life to enjoy at every turn and a pleasantly cool and dry day made for a good trip.
In the afternoon we had a good walk along the coast via Dunstanburgh to Craster where a good coffee shop made for a very welcome stop off before heading back.

I don’t somehow think I’ll be late out of my bed this evening, my wee legs are in need of all the rest they can get!

Delighted to tell you my kitchen friends...........after a few million items scanned........no viruses so this was a deadly scam.
Believe me it looked the real deal,even had my DH in a right tither.........but thankfully all is clear and we live to breathe another new day,virus free.
It has certainly aged me yet some more.
These sorts of things we do NOT want in our lives.

It is too hot to sit outside for longer than it takes to enjoy a leisurely . I'm a devil for punishment. Have completed 20 mins moderate pedalling on the exercise bike. Am all aglow as a result.
