On the subject of incontinence products, it was such a complicated palaver to produce the information (specimens over a period of time, both sorts)to get them on prescription that I decided to buy them ourselves. Bought online I was at least able to choose the most appropriate for him (a good fit as he was very thin, but it had to allow for a large incision hernia) and the easiest for us to put on and off without necessitating a whole undressing of the lower half. (Pull ups meant taking off pj trouser bottoms to change) . Too much faff. There’s a good sort with an adjustable waist, recommended by one of the Carers which gave him a better fit with less fuss.

anno I totally agree with your message to Ann She should not have to pay for the pull-ups. Worth her mentioning this fact to the GP.

I can't understand why you have to buy the pull-ups. I know that a relative of mine had them on prescription and he's not exactly short of cash! A word with your GP and/or your SW. I also believe that it's possible to have laundry collected and returned if you are caring for someone doubly incontinent. I'm sure the Alzheimer's Society would give you more information about your rights.

Ann have you checked whether or not you can get the pull ups on prescription? I have a regular delivery of free pads that I must use for my rear-end prolapse. The district nurse arranged the service on my behalf.

Today's visit to the care home was fun. Naturally, I had to brag that, way back in the mists of time, my 40th great grandfather was Alpin of Kintyre. Macechdach Pict King of Scotland. The lady I visit has dementia but she introduced me to a gentleman seated at her table with the words..."this in my friend. She's a royal toff..." that made me laugh out loud.

soop that bruising is awful and must be painful. If you are not careful I will be up to bring you to a safer place. Tara escorted me to the loo and made sure I arrived home safely again, I can see no reason why she could not do it for you. I know that you live in a bungalow but my stairlift is easy to use although you may have to tell Tara to go elsewhere as she sits on the stairs when I want to go up. Everywhere else is on the flat so you would be fine once you had worked out your bearings. MacS could come if he wished- Tara does not always take to men but I am certain he would be an exception.

One of my ex neighbours went out for a coffee whenever there was a viewing- as she said, that is why she paid the estate agent such a large sum of money to show people around.

Whilst it has been and gone.....a pleasant couple from the heart of London who have a buyer for their home.They arrived in our area yesterday and have 5 properties on their short list.....between our county and our neighbouring Ceredigion.
No gushing, but I think one of the nicest compliments anyone can make is saying how your property feels very much like home.
If anything the husband seemed most interested.....but although they promise a verdict by the weekend, we honestly feel it will be a no....both are arthritic sufferers........and for our grounds you really need a fit couple.
These viewings certainly come in twos.............another viewer on thursday,a family from the South east.

A friend has continence problems and although better able to manage it there is always evidence of 'accidents' through the house. The work it makes for his wife is huge, she struggles with much more sleep than you are getting. Please rest when you can.

I've been to the care home. Having a quick cup of coffee before going into Tarbert for dental appointment. I shall therefore return after whatever treatment lies in store.

The bruise from the recent fall in the bathroom, is doing nicely. I can't show the buttock bruise. It's not for delicate lady-like viewers. There is a nice bruise that tracks down my thigh on the scar from the hip replacement surgery. I was lucky not to dislodge it.

Yes Maw he does wear the adult pull ups which I have to buy myself, I can get liners but they are no good.
The pull ups are very good but he obviously " bypasses" them.
The problem is ,his bed is in the dining room with the table and chairs pushed up under the window, so the room has a carpet, it will have to be ditched soon and a washable covering put down.
I have Karndean in the hall so a mop over is fine.
I am waiting for the financial assessment before going any further with "other plans".

Ann I am inclined to agree with Maw you would not know whether to laugh or cry. I do think that you have to let SS know about his continence issues and you cannot be expected to run on 2 hours sleep a day. It is a long time until your next period of respite, you also have to have a life.

Since my H came back from respite he has been very hard work.
Two hours sleep at a stretch is the norm.
On Sunday night my GD stayed so I could get a decent sleep.
Yesterday and today I came down to large puddles on the carpet and a trail through the hall.
Yesterday the bed had to be stripped.
It is like a Chinese laundry.
I was putting the second large load out on the line when he wanted to lnow which cupboard a plate went I.
He mithered and mithered until I snapped, I screamed, can you not just wait 5 minutes , I have been on the go all morning, I am 81 you know.
Quick as a flash he came back with "and it shows"!!

We had our own seats in A&E when DD was a teen - her shoulders dislocated whenever you looked at them. The hours we were there! Thank goodness for the NHS (and travel insurance!)

What rattled my cage (?) over the weekend was that yet again some posters elsewhere seemed determined to read Paw as an acronym and I was facing questions like “”What is Paw?” on two separate occasions on the same afternoon plus some irrelevant speculation about my (presumed) Scottish- American background all as if I wasn’t there Deeply upset I asked GNHQ to delete the thread as I sincerely wished I hadn’t started it.

Making a short morning visit as I shall be off PC most of the afternoon and I did so want to assure you Chaos I was only totally taken aback by what seemed utter chaos within the usually calm atmosphere of soop`s kitchen............and it sort of unsettled my equilibrium rather.!!! Simple as that.
I like to speak to all in turn and I had no clue as to who you were .....I was enlightened as to who Topsy was so hence no probs there.
Sorry to hear of the long wait in A & E ......believe me I DO have my own named seat there!!!.............and sorrier for your poor lad,quite an ordeal indeed.Hope he will keep those teeth.

Hopefully dentist today will confirm that his teeeth will weather the storm. I was silly enough to think that it wouldnt be too bad even if he lost them, because they are baby teeth, but apparently it can have serious implications for the adult teeth.
There was a distinct sense of deja-vu......at one point in the young family years, I wondered if they would offer us a named chair at A&E, because we seemed to be there every 5 minutes

I’m very partial to a drop of that....and since there’s absolutely no chance I’ll remember who used to be who and who never was in the kitchen in the first place, I’m more than happy to accept a glass from anyone! In fact reading back a bit there seems to be rather a lot of alcohol of varying sorts sloshing around in the kitchen today. What’s going on soop? But seriously we all love this kitchen, rall it stands for and offers to any who pop in. I’ve said it before, I’m sure, you do have some very handsome men in your family!

I’m still slightly basking after my weekend with dd4, as always she got me on a bit of a garden tidy up in her little patch. She took a photo of me, secateurs in hand and posted it on Facebook. 3 of her old school friends noticed it and commented I look as I did when she was 6! Now that was 30 years ago, so I’m slightly concerned that these girls need to get themselves to Sp******rs pronto, but am nevertheless very flattered that they recognised me 2 stione heavier and very grey at all and seemed to remember me fondly too.

chaos, I hope the little lad is OK and none the worse from the ordeal. Not a lot of fun for you or your DD. Reminds me of the time toddler DS split his eyebrow on a low shelf, while reaching for a milk jug. Milk and blood everywhere. Now 47, he still bears the scar!
