Theatre tickets and babysitting promise, gift voucher for flying lesson in small plane! She probably has babybrain and this might be a fun change. Offer to cook a nice meal for her and husband when kids in bed and serve and go?

Many years ago (pre-internet, post-divorce) my son (then 12 or so) got my mum to help him buy me some kind of a relaxing spa treatment. I don't even remember what the treatment was, but I do remember the kindness.

A magazine subscription? I was given one last year and it was an original and much appreciated gift.

What a lovely idea. How about a cinema voucher/ Waitrose voucher or a Fortnum and Mason hamper (you could make one up with luxury foods.)

There are several companies now who send gift box of latest's beauty items monthly for a subscription. This would give her a monthly treat.

www.lookfantastic.com offers subscriptions from £13 a month I am thinking of one for my DD.

Jo Malone vouchers, bath oil, perfume or room diffusers are loved. By all the women in my family. If you cannot afford that then Molton Brown bath sets are lovely.

Facial or Aromatherapy massage while you babysit? Or if you can run to it, a Spa Day (again with you babysitting)
With a younfy family time is so very much at a premium!

A professional photo shoot?

In a similar vein to Falmers suggestion, perhaps a beauty treatment/spa day, or a manicure/pedicure.
Beauty products are always nice - luxury bath/shower toiletries, face creams, etc.
I hope all the ideas suggested on this thread have given you some inspiration. ?

If DD can get a babysitter, how about an acupuncturist session for both of you together, followed by a nice coffee somewhere?

Thank you, that’s really helpful.

We already have the older DGD overnight but the younger one doesn’t sleep much! So our DD is reluctant to impose that on us, but we have offered.

I’m trying to stick to presents for DD, not the house because we already help out with house things and I would prefer this to be a personal present.

There’s plenty in your list to get me thinking smile

A goody box as we call it in the family! Great idea.
Here’s some suggestions. DVD, box set, face pack, chocolate, manicure voucher, hairdressing voucher, bath oil, body cream, (Ren/Tropic/Jo Malone/ Clarins), A Donald Russell/Riverford Organics/Abel and Cole meat and or veg box. Magazine or beauty box subscription ( glossy box, birch box)
A promise of a 24hr baby sit.
Luxury nightwear. Anything silk or cashmere.
QVC have some fabulous offers on great brands such as Elemis, Liz Earl etc, all goods come quickly, beautifully packed and with a no quibble 30 Day refund.
Hope this helps.

Our eldest daughter is married with two small children of her own.

They don’t complain but like many young families they don’t have much money, DD and DSiL live frugally to treat their own DCs.

We help out when we know there is something they want or need, although they never ask.

It’s DD’s birthday soon, she can’t think of anything she wants, other than a functional item for the house, which we’ve bought her.

If we buy vouchers she will spend them on the children.

We’d like to make a gift box, we’ll include pink gin (she stopped breastfeeding a few months back) and a scented candle because she likes them too but other than that I’m stumped. I’d like to get her some luxury smellies, can anyone help with suggestions for these and other things?
