annsixty I’m so sorry things are still difficult for you. My army son is all set for further surgery at kings with a ex army surgeon who specialises in trauma injuries in the next few weeks. It’s good news because we were worried there was nothing they could do. Fingers crossed for him he’s desperate to get back to being an action man! I want to share this happy photo with you all. It’s my lovely son, wife and children on holiday. It makes me so happy to see them so relaxed and happy. They’ve both put weight on, their hair has grown back (my son lost more hair through the stress than DiL who wore the cold cap during treatment) more crossed fingers that things run smoothly for a good while. I hope your all enjoying the warm weather and best wishes to those of you having a hard time

Surprisingly Charlie , after 2 days in the sun, the water is now lukewarm !! I don't think I can take advantage with more than a paddle today as I am off to the Renal Clinic where I can only hope they are running to time and I am in and out in a flash! Its far too nice to be wasting time in a hospital !!

soop glad it all went well, I did chuckle at the thought of all us Grans in the paddling pool...I wonder what you call a collective group of Grans...a Knit of grans? a natter of grans?

Callgirl , that WAS a nice gift!! Our little boys love watermelon and the little wedges are just the right size but SO expensive compared to buying a whole watermelon.

Sam is in fine form and has just had his early morning stroll. Its far too hot later in the day.

I got a picture from my daughter this morning , the Queen of the Universe is off for the day to the secondary school she starts in Sept . WHERE did the last 11 years go?????

Ann, you are a wonderful woman, how you cope I just don`t know, especially at the end of your tether.
I had a free gift from Mr.Tesco today. I was putting my delivery away, and came upon a box about a foot square and 4 or 5 inches deep, labelled Tesco Al Fresco. It contained a pack of 8 Richmond chicken sausages, a little pack of 4 water melon sticks, and a packet of 4 fruit scones. That was nice of them.

Ask if he/she will arrange a meeting with All health officials
e.g. social worker, MH, head carer, district nurse in one room.

My GP arranged this for me, he also provided the room at the health centre for the meeting.
It resulted in a 'workable plan' that involved all the various agencies.

Ann because at present I cannot get to the pharmacy 1/2 mile away to pick up any drugs, they are delivered. It is so useful because like yourself I hate asking neighbours for help.

corner a named person is useful otherwise any letters or emails go from A to B and round the houses with nobody caring or taking any responsibility. I do hope you manage to get your problem sorted out soon- you do not want it interfering with quiet periods in the garden reading a book or a magazine or in my case, watching the weeds grow.

Make the most of lounging in your garden because this weather cannot last- this is summer.

I have at last heard from the SW but nothing from the MHteam. I am just going to go through my GP where the original referral came from.
I am truly at the end of my tether.
I really like to think that my/ our generation carried out our obligations with vigour and compassion.

Would recommend delivery by the pharmacy ann, hopefully yours will do it. I’m pleased it was diagnosed so quickly, hopefully it will settle very soon.

BT saga rumbles on. A missed call to a mobile number they were told not to use hasn’t helped. They provide a land line, why won’t they use it? Positive news now. Hopefully the last muddle as my emailed letter had a reply late afternoon. We now have a named person responsible for sorting it all out. That feels better.

Glad all was well with MacSporran soop. We too have been to the hospital today for DH to have an outpatient appointment. He is ok too thank goodness but it was a very hot day to travel in the tube to London and involved lots of walking between stations. Also we spent over an hour in a very hot noisy waiting room to see the consultant but he is such a lovely and charming man we did not mind. Had a quick bite for lunch then home again and a shower to cool off ?

Hope you have a good day with Baggs tomorrow you could drop a subtle hint that it's been a long time since the kitchen has had any flapjacks ?

Some surgeries deliver prescriptions to the a pharmacy and some pharmacies deliver to the home. Might be worth finding out ann.

Yes it us a UTI, something of a relief for me as it doesn't mean a deteriorating in his condition.
On the other hand if he is going to get them regularly....
The surgery rang at 6:10, really well done for them, the scrip for ab's is at the pharmacy.

Those Hospital waiting rooms are not the kindest places to wait for sure............I feel sure they hope some of the patients might simply turn tail and run for the hills!

However obviously your Macsporran has ongoing issues that need constant check ups but certainly whilst he is able to travel to and from,I am sure between the both of you... you cope well.

Whilst you well know us lot are hovering in the background!

The temperature has been nipping at the heels of 30 degrees. There were a good many road works and long waits for the convoy system to deal with waiting queues of vehicles.

The hospital waiting room was full and it was airless. I chose to pace the cooler corridor as we waited for the appointment. Dear MacSporran is "doing good". His bloods are satisfactory. A few lymph nodes are swollen and a group of them in his abdomen need regular monitoring. The reason being they are clustered close to the aortic aneurysm. Anyway, that's it for another twelve weeks, unless he feels the need for further reassurance.

Off we trotted for fish, chips and mushy peas and they were well worth the discomforts of the journey.

Home at last. I have read your messages and - note to Maw I want one of those snazzy cars. One wee boy is going to be cock-a-hoop.

Ann Taking a urine sample to the hospital on behalf of a poorly patient is the very least that the taxi firm can do. I sense that you are feeling a little brighter today. You are coping magnificently well.

A very wise move cancelling our Garden Fete in a south facing town garden today,it really would have proved too much for me,however thankfully I managed my hair do ...my friendly stylist and plenty of gossip about the village where we both once lived..... whilst the salon was probably the coolest place around!!
Furthermore it has worked wonders for my morale.

It is certainly a day for long cool drinks .......and plenty thereof,icecreams,lollies etc...............and Charley..........fruit and yet more fruit.............even a scone with jam and cream comes anywhere near my mouth on such a day!
As for cherries, they do not have a very long shelf life so are best enjoyed when fresh.....you can then always get more,after all they only have a short season.

It is too hot for me to contemplate sitting outside- my house is cool whether it is January or June. Today is the second day I took off my cardigan but it will be on again for evening.

Tara will have found a cool spot to while away the hours.

Although it is very warm for soop and MacSporran to be travelling, it is rather better than our normal January weather. Even I would not say no to fish and chips but I would prefer them wrapped in paper! I was dragged up.

Looking back there were some advantages to paws catheter, never intended to be permanent but given his infirmity in the latter weeks, jolly useful.
Ann your OH will just have to sit with a bottle in situ while you ply him with pint glasses of water or run taps in the background like my Mum used to do to get me to perform in my potty.
I have never quite forgiven her as running water continues to have that effect, likewise heavy rain as we discovered on holiday on Skye many many years ago. Not a lot of trees to “pop behind” on Skye ???
