Panache great to see you back with us ?.
Cortisone injection hip for trochanteric bursitis
Things that (sometimes unreasonably) get on your nerves...hopefully lighthearted
Welcome.
Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good pals and jolly good company.
Never mind the weather
Never mind the rain
As long as we're together...
woops we go again.

Panache great to see you back with us ?.
Afternoon from a very damp and busy corner. It didn’t rain, until we went out for a walk minus umbrella. I’m not even trying to understand how that happened, timing eh?
.
Welcome back panache, good to hear from you.
Pleasant manager and staff augur well ann, your husband will be well cared for and you will get some well earned and needed rest. Hang on in there, not long now.
So far today we’re accident free kitty, I say so far as the noise level is rising which never bodes well for calm pursuits. We’re certainly avoiding ponds, although the puddles would make excellent swimming pools. I hope no real harm came to Bertie and Persie, what else can you do now except change your car? Horrid thing to happen for you all
Stay as well as you can everyone. Now, anyone got a referee’s whistle?
Panache delighted to hear that you have joined [us lot] again and you are improving daily.
Ann that sounds great, you I know are desperate for the peace and able to sleep a whole night in your own bedroom without any interruptions.
Tara has given up her nursing care- it did not last for long. She has returned to whinging around 5am for me to get up and let her out. She normally has to wait a whole hour before her mother will consider moving.
I have taken a full M&S meal out of the freezer to pop in the microwave when the food has defrosted but I am hoping to put half of it in the fridge for tomorrow evening because there is too much.
The sun peeped out today, that is a rarity but preferable to the danger to life storms threatened.
Wonderful updates. Big gentle hugs to Panache Ann Charletg and Jane
corner Ha! A ref's whistle could help to quieten things down...on the other hand...
I've just spoken with our friend in the village. For a week and a bit she's been feeling unwell with stomach cramps and loss of appetite. She's an appointment with the GP tomorrow. We called in to see her husband in the care home today. I'm wondering whether or not some of our lot have a dose of whatever it is that has made her feel so poorly. Is there a bug doing the rounds?
MacSporran is to attend the hospital for an update scan on the aortic aneurysm on Tuesday. Then, a little later in the month, he has to attend the Oban hospital for his regular leukaemia check-up.
So many poorly people.
I was pleased to see Panache is up to posting.
We have just had a visit from 2 nurses from the mental health team, still no luck on the sedatives as apparently they could cause a falls risk if he is still getting up and wandering through the night but we may get something prescribed for the restlessness that start every day at 5 pm, it is called " sundowning" and is quite common.
They both told me I am doing absolutely the right thing with the respite care, they see others who don't persue it and then end up with an emergency admission when things go pear shaped, so, I will not change my mind.
Dear Ann I cannot begin to tell you how relieved and thankful I am to hear that respite care has been arranged. I am extremely worried about your own health. Your husband will not be too far away and you will catch up on some much-needed rest.
in abundance.
The sky is overcast and it is muggy. It's tiring weather. Everything seems to take more effort than I have in reserve. It could be that our wonderful spell of sunshine has moved on. Maybe thunderstorms are heading in our direction.
All things being well, I shall call in to catch up with you again tomorrow.
Bye for now.

So good to see you posting again Panache, hoping you continue to improve.
Great news from you Ann, you need that respite for sure.
Best wishes to McSporran for his 2 hospital visits, both requiring a heck of a trek.
Good news from Panache welcome back to the fold, and as I said before, thank goodness you are following the only course of action as things stand.
I had to laugh I am afraid at Bertie’s and Persie’s exploits (as long as they weren’t hurt!) and much sympathy on the vomited on car interior!
Maybe a trip to the (what I call immigrant) car wash? Or industrial quantities of Febreze?
This is my solution to the black dog hairs on the pale sofa problem. Good one isn’t it?
I have found two new cushions for the other sofa which Hattie doesn’t seem as fond of, so I think I am sorted now.
That will have to do!
If anybody is on or around Manchester, DD’s (designed) play starring Maxine Peake at the Royal Exchange, “Happy Days” is getting excellent reviews.
I wonder if I can get up there for it?
“In Manchester” not “on” of course.
If I had a brain I suspect I’d be dangerous.
My second comment about the only course of action was meant for Annsixty only I forgot to say so.
Although you think I 'm not around much I 'd like reveal that I'm often tucked up in the corner draped in my invisibility cloak! I was concerned about some poor grans and have been sympathetically supervising the health concerns.
And now I 've joined you !!
A... over ...s on sunday evening. Carted off in ambulance. Cracked neck of femur! Op to pin and plate on Monday!
Excellent support and physio so planning to be home Saturday lunchtime.
Have been sharpening my claws on a couple of the more controversial threads but am too tired for the nasty nonsense!I
Pleased to read of A's C's and P's progress.
Love to all
This lurking corner is getting quite crowded theses days! I do a lot of lurking with the occasional foray to dip my toe in the water.
for all the poorly and exhausted people in here.
Ann, thank goodness. You so badly need that break.
Panache , it’s good to hear from you. You must be in pain? Look forward to longer posts when you feel up to it.
Kitty, sorry but I did laugh. At least it’s last day of half term tomorrow.
Nonna this Nonna is a lurker too. I enjoy reading the kitchen posts but feel I can’t compete with all the long, newsy ones. I just enjoy reading them and admiring the lovely pictures that appear from time to time.
Panache good to hear from you. Sounds like a pretty major op. Hope you are not in pain and wishing you a good recovery.
ann so pleased to hear you are going to have some respite care for your DH. You need it so much. Sorry you are not feeling well. You really need some rest. Hope all goes well with the care home.
JaneD sorry about your fall. Hope it doesn't spoil your holiday too much. Glad nothing broken
grannyqueenie sorry to hear about other granny. Hope the right treatment can help.
charleygirl glad Tara is taking good care of you. Have you got her a little nurses cap to wear? ? (Sorry Tara, I didn't mean it)
soop hope all MacSporran's hospital visits go well.
mcem my goodness what a nasty shock. Hope your op fixes you up properly. It's amazing how quickly they get you out of hospital these days.
maw do hope you get to see the play. Pleasing for your DD that it's getting such good reviews. I like Maxine Peake.
Wow, I'm exhausted now. Haven't posted so much for ages.
Hello to all the lurkers ? and anyone else I forgot to mention. The kitchen is so busy it's hard to keep up with everyone.?
Where are you JaneD? That’s beautiful!
I’m very pleased to hear you have arranged respite for your husband Annsixty. Please do take care to rest, rest and rest.
Panache. Wishing you a very comfortable and speedy recovery!
My dear caring Kitchen friends;
It has been such an uplift,a real comfort reading all your lovely messages and though not quite my old self I feel I must at least pop my nose around the door, and give you my “gen”
First and foremost may I wish all of you going through similar and/or worst issues, the same gentle but heart felt support I have had from what Soop calls you lot It has been a great boost.
Whilst Ann60 your position has concerned me so very much, I was getting extremely frustrated at the lack of obvious help in what has clearly become desperation, knowing how much you have truly battled on alone with the growing plight of your loved one.
Thank fully a respite (almost at any cost) will give you back some mojo and the space to recharge your run down batteries............Sending blessings in abundance.
I can but advocate “One day at a time”..........try,try,some little nourishment charley......little and often is the buzz word.Recovery is never easy......... made harder there on your ownsome...........go on drop LOUD hints!!!
(Wish I were nearer and more able!!)
My journey has but barely started, and thus far it has been utter pandemonium, with staff and medics run off their feet.
I did not even have a bed until AFTER my operation and that is but a lumpy trolley.
Thus far I have only learnt via my surgeon as he literally ran through at a rate of knots.......... “The operation went swimmingly, blockage removed and I am having a hula this night!”
There are a multitude of questions that need answered re bleeding internally, infection, stents, and the possibility of a further blockage are uppermost........whilst so also is the deeper questions regarding further damage to Pancreas (life threatening) and liver.Whilst of course the need to discover why this vast loss of weight.
Further leg dressings due following that `op........though thankfully that is slowly healing............and following real recovery there are further investigations etc re a Bowel problem that has been under way a full 18 months already.
Whenever shall I be freed of the Medical establishment I have to wonder!!
The NHS are certainly badly fraying at the edges, however whatever would we do without their expertice and care???
I hope to get discharged at earliest..... as I will only have peace, comfort and proper care under my very worried poor husband`s tender care, whom has never seen me this battered, bruised black and blue, although I have had so many big operations/treatments with a number of Consultants and 4 different Hospitals.......I never looked as though I had been in a boxing ring!...and lost the fight!!!
This is truly nothing short of a nightmare.
Now we shall both be heading the list for a brand new state of the art Hospital promised us by the year 2025.....................I have a whole lot of “hanging on “ to do if I hope to be a patient in that one!!!
I have the spirit perhaps.............whilst my body screeches a big NO!
Wishing each one of you a pleasant and uplifting few days, trusting those niggles are few but the delights are many.
P.s........Love rugs, especially kilims so MawB........I congratulate you on a good choice which is very complimentary to honey coloured settees and that lovely fire surround............a thumbs up from me!
PPs......This has been written a few paragraphs at a time so forgive the messy bits!!
As for those lurking................come on out you lot you only have half the picture of our great kitchen life whilst lurking!!!
Mcem............Had caught up with your plight earlier on another posting and really felt for you,so I repeat, take great care and we shall all be here to share the discomfort and have a giggle....... whilst wishing you the very best............
So much to look forward to ........if only to enjoy that lovely sunrise picture as shown to us by JaneD3......
I nipped in yesterday to see if there was news of Ann and Panache, there was but my post vanished into the ether! Glad to see you’re going to be getting some respite Ann and good news that you’re slowly mending Panache.
Jane that’s a stunning view, hope you’re not too tender round the edges to enjoy it!
Oh dear mcem, not another Kitchener to hit the deck so to speak. Hope it’s not too painful while you wait for the op. Love the thought of otherwise kindly souls ‘sharpening claws* in the hurley burley “out there” - I’m not brave enough!
maw it all looks beautiful but practical enough to accommodate the lovely Hattie too. Good plan I’d say and I’m guessing it will adapt to visiting littlies as and when the need arises.
Thanks for your good wishes doodle, much appreciated especially as I feel a bit overwhelmed by knowing of a number of very poorly people in my friendship circle just now. Keep on posting the more the merrier in this warm and cosy spot.
It’s always fun to hear of others experiences of “grannying” with youngsters, never a dull moment eh? We had fun the other day at an interactive museum with 2 of ours, their choice of activity. It cost us an arm and a leg but apparently the ticket allows to visit as often as we want to for the next year so every other grandchild visiting this summer will be going there too whether they want to or not!
soop, your paintings as always are beautiful. Hope all goes well with your lovely man and his checkups and neither of you get the bug that’s around your locality.
Well I’m sure I’m bound to have missed someone out, so sorry if it was you, not intentional at all! I must away, friends coming to stay overnight - 2nd batch in a week, so I’m very grateful for good weather for laundry. I just wish their was a kitchen fairy to magic up yet another tasty meal for this evening though. Keep it simple is my mantra for this week I think! Wishing you all a pleasant, peaceful and accident free day. xx
ps a photo of my garden, wish I had time to potter there today
grannyqueenie love your garden, what a gorgeous picture
First and foremost, ann, what a relief for you. You will be able to catch up on sleep, and hopefully your social life. And your H will be well looked after by people who understand his condition. Also glad to have the news of Panache who shows such fortitude despite all her ongoing health (or ill-health) conditions and still has time and energy to think of us. mcem, I do hope you will be home tomorrow. No matter how well you are treated in hospital, you miss home comforts. You have someone there for you, I hope?
It's another warm morning here with sunlight filtered through high cloud though the forecast last night was a bit ominous. I saw on the news that, at Didcot, where DS2 and family live, the station was flooded - and not for the first time. He sent me a photo of the GSs wading in wellies across the road outside their house. After the flash flood that raged through my garden two years ago, I shudder at the thought of a repetition here.
