My friend’s husband is full of self-importance

Just a thought but if he's suddenly changed and is often repeating himself could he be showing the beginning signs of dementia? Of course it could just be he's totally bored with his life now and likes living in the past and taking everyone who listens back with him grin

A good point there MawBroon!

But yes we too know of a few whom are never happier than when they completely over ride the conversation to expound in great detail their own achievements,elaborated to the hilt, and totally blocking our attempts at moving on............So infuriating and I do believe they worsen with age.
In fact I have quietly wondered could there be some dementia factor lurking within them?

I worked with a lovely woman for years . My DH and her DH get on well also. We have all gone on holiday together several times and have great fun. Lately, however, my friend’s DH has become so boring! He retired years ago, but he keeps going on about the job and repeating anecdotes we have usually heard more than thrice! He has always been pretty self important and shows only the briefest of interest in my DH’s past career. I know we all have faults so it has washed over me in the past. Unfortunately his wife makes no attempt to ‘rein him in ‘ either. It’s such a shame as our friends are both lovely people, but he doesn’t know when to shut up !
