My first GC was going to be Louis but turned out to be Lauren.

We have Louie as apposed to Louis in our family.

I like it, but does anyone else find it a bit odd that they've used one of Prince george's names? He's George Alexander Louis. Historically several sons might have shared a family name in case one of the sons died, but nowadays it seems slightly weird. Or is it just me?

I like the name . I don't think it odd having the same name , my fathers second name was also his younger brothers first name and their father and grandfathers name .

I think they just chuck all the Royal names in a hat and pick them out in any order.

At least Louis is a popular name at the moment.

We had a family living across the road to us when I was a child . The grandad, dad and son all lived together under one roof and they were all called Arthur ( big Arthur, little Arthur and grandad Arthur ). The mother was as rough as a badgers bum . I remember her standing at the back fence shouting “Aaaarrrrffffaaaa” at the top of her voice . It put me off the name completely .

ffinocchio I don’t know how Louis Armstrong pronounced his name, but I do know the city I had always thought was pronounced St. Loui(s) with a silent final s is actually pronounced with the final s sounded, as if Saint Lewis. My son discovered that when his work took him there.

(Apparently Louis Armstrong pronounced his own name as Lewis, but since he came from New Orleans, where there is strong French influence, some people mistakenly used the French pronunciation, as they do in Britain.)
