anno I know that you are so proud of her but I agree, her exams are really important- I only hope that she is of the same opinion.
What a difference a day makes 😢😢
He never gives up being stupid.
Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good pals and jolly good company
Welcome to all our friends...
anno I know that you are so proud of her but I agree, her exams are really important- I only hope that she is of the same opinion.
Greyduster, nothing will stop my DGD from going for the gold award - although there's a little matter of GCSEs next year. I sometimes wonder when she has time to sleep!
Ann
I too agree with all the previous posters. Don't let them make you feel guilty about not having your dh home too soon. You aren't superwoman, you need a lot of help.
Congratulations to n&g’s daughter and to anno’s granddaughter.
Managed to grab some time for the garden today. Beautiful sunshine which encourages many sit downs to admire the outcome.
We have the same issue with delivery boxes, I suspect it’s firmdoeed, mich quicker to use big boxes than find one that fits.
Time for food now. Wishing you all well.
Well done N&G`s daughter. I never even had the courage to learn to drive. The only thing I`ve ever driven is a mobility scooter!
Also well done to Anno`s granddaughter, you must be so proud of her Anno.
I`ve been reading poetry this afternoon, something I don`t do often, but enjoyed for a nice change. Thank you Soop and MacS xx
I waited in all yesterday for the shop to collect the hired mobility scooter, it`s STILL here, and a parcel that is. supposedly, coming today, hasn`t arrived. It was delivered whilst I was away, I phoned to arrange redelivery, was told today. Trouble is, I worry about being in the loo or hanging washing out and missing them.
Perhaps you are supposed to sit in the box whilst taking your BP baggs. Has anyone else noticed that so many things are being delivered in extra large boxes these days? We had a huge box delivered the other day and hidden in layers and layers of brown paper were some batteries for the wall clock
ann, bed-blocking (horrid term!) at the hospital is not your problem, looking after the DH properly at home is. Please take momb's advice and try to get both OT and consultant to really understand what you will have to deal with and what help you need if you are to stay sane, let alone physically well. All the best.
Well done that DD, N&G! She'll love the extra independence and conveniences being able to drive will give her.
anno, I remember when my friend's son did that trek for DofE award. Tough going! Your GD will be rightly proud of her achievement.
I ordered myself the blood pressure monitor recommended by my GP. You can see the size of the box it came in! The rest was packaging.
Back at home, where I belong. I've a choice - either do my own ironing, or a wee bit more in the garden. Coffee first!
annsixty The advice given by mumofmadboys and Maw makes a great deal of sense. You cannot be expected to cope with your husband without the buffer of professional care. I do worry that you may find the stress more than you can handle. If you become ill, what happens then?
N&G Very well done to your daughter. Her perseverance has rewarded her. The boys (when a little older) will no doubt reap the benefits of her tenacity.
When the youngest son was in his teens, he rang us from Newton Abbot...he was with a pal and had mislaid his train fare back to Cornwall. He needed a lift. When we collected him from outside the station, he was wearing a brand new, flashy shirt. The one he wore when leaving home, was in a carrier bag. I asked him, where did the money come from to buy the new shirt.
He thought for a moment and replied...'Argh, I was wondering why I had more spending money than I should have'... 'I must have spent the train fare...' Pull the other one, son.
anno Congratulations to your super-charged granddaughter. A good excuse for a celebration.
Good morning all. Well, a kitchen of achievers today! Congratulations to your DD, N&G - don’t tell her about all the late night telephone calls she can expect, asking for lifts home from the armpits of nowhere when Jackson and Cooper become teenagers! Not yet anyway - let her enjoy the moment ?! And also to your DGD, Anno. That is some distance and some achievement! Well done to her! Is she going for her gold?
I thought we would go out walking today, but am advised that today is to be a gardening day. Himself has a new cordless hedge trimmer and a strimmer that he has been anxious to try out! So today is the day, apparently. Boys and their toys! He graciously offered to let me do the sweeping up behind him. In his dreams! I have been making bean and bacon soup instead. Then I will move some plants from one side of the garden to the other, so that when they die - things always die if I move them - they will at least have had their day in the sun! Then I will sit down - a lot!
I will look in later.
That would be wonderful Maw- you would never have to pay another penny for kennel fees and she would be loved to bits. The only downfall would be that I am not able to walk her.
N&G that is fabulous news, it will make such a difference to her life once she gains confidence and can cope with two young fellows shouting "are we nearly there yet?"
Would Grampy like some stern words or has he had enough? Stupid or what! A holiday on your own may be very refreshing but heavens knows what the state of the house would be on return.
Congrats to your DGD - I have such respect for DofE achievers!
Kennels for the night Anno☹️
What would it take to entice Charleygirl to move up here?
Have a good trip Maw. Seeing your family at the end of your drive will make it all worthwhile. I prescribe a dose of Flynn. What have you done with Hattie?
A proud granny here: GD, aged 15, has gained the Duke of Edinburgh silver award, after a weekend expedition of 40Km and with aching feet. That's a very determined young woman. Clever too!
Congratulations to your DD N&G
DD2 took even longer I think (her excuse was compounded by living in London where a car was a liability and then marrying lovely SIL whose transport is a pick up ) However, she made it in 2015 at the age of 38 and now she has a mini is gradually gaining confidence on motorways and the dreaded North Circular.
Off that way myself today and my Bp always jumps a few notches especially on the M25 ?
Morning all !
ann , I am so sad for you . The challenges you've faced and those yet to come . I don't know where you find your inner strength but you amaze me . Just sending my best wishes - wish there was more I could do.
I am knee deep in decorators so wont stay long. Grampy feels better after his treatment but against my good advice he is off to mow the lawn !!!! I have told him , we go on holiday in 30 days and I'm going - with or without him :-)
Just wanted to share one piece of VERY good news from my family to the kitchen :-)
Our youngest daughter after 12 attempts has PASSED her driving test!!! Nerves have always been her downfall and now 13 years after taking her first lesson ( with 7 years off in the middle she told me ) she has passed. It will make a huge difference to her and the two little boys in the holidays as they can get out and about more easily than having to walk everywhere .
Ive added the picture she sent us after she had told Cooper and Jackson - they look pleased I think .
Blue sky wishes to you all- I hope you all get a little sunshine in your days today x
Of course others are right ann, but my heart aches for you and the choices you have to face. Please care for yourself, so important that you do. Sending love to you both.
Ann, I couldn’t agree more with mum of.
It’s exactly the advice I would give.
I presume he is in receipt of the appropriate benefits?
ann what mumofmadboys and Maw had to say made a lot of sense.
I agree, they want the bed but you are not 25 years of age and cannot be expected to look after him 24/7 with "care" for want of a better word having had experience very recently.
Hugs from me and
- there is no easy answer but you must look after yourself.
So sorry ann. We have all been thinking of you today. It is possible some memory may come back at home but more important now is how you will cope. Help at home as you well know can be a bit hit and miss. Hopefully they will get it all sorted for you. Take care
? Ann. So difficult for you. Take care.
Same from me, ann ??
ann
and hugs x
annsixty I’m so sorry to hear this latest news.
All I can say is that I completely second the posting by
mumofmadboys
Ann, thank you for your update. You must have felt as though you would rather do anything else than rehash it to us.
Please take on board what MOMB says. You can refuse to have your DH home until you are quite sure you are able to cope. There is some logic in the argument that familiarity will help but not if it means you are to be even more stressed out. You will be no good to DH if you are ill.
Oh ann that is a lot for you to deal with at home. I’m struggling to agree with the hospital if this ‘being at home is better’ decision. In many cases that is true but I really don’t think, for both your sakes, this is the answer.
I do agree with speak to the consultant re the best way forward for your DH.
Try to look after yourself too ann ?
