Ah yes, you have beaten me to it by 20 years in this house but I have lived in and round this London area since 1974 and lived in the centre of London from 1968.

soop, at the moment you don't need to waste sympathy on my teeth. The infection was controlled with antibiotics some weeks ago and at the moment they are stable but a bit wonky. I need a long-term solution.
ann, I'm not at all surprised that you have taken DH home and am glad you made the decision along with your DS. There was clearly nothing to be gained by keeping him in hospital. I know he will be getting the best care at home but the question is: what about you?

Ann I believe that you have made the right decision. Your husband was never going to improve whilst in a strange place surrounded by strangers. Home is where he belongs. I wish you well. You deserve a big dose of peace of mind. ...I wish that the bouquet was real.

Galen What is it with us lot. Your injury sounds scary.

kitty I'm so sorry to hear that Bertie is back in hospital. Do you think that the rising pollen count is affecting his lungs?

The meal was a real treat and the food was delicious. Should callgirl1 visit Muasdale again next year (lots of campers basking in the sunshine today), we shall treat her to a lunch at Glenbarr.

I'm a trifle squiffy. I need to sit down (in the garden) with a pot of tea. Have I told you that the garden looks terrific?

I'm dressed in my spring outfit today. Jeans and tatty top in the wash. Here is the proof.

Ann, your SW needs to read the notes from your poor OHs last admission . He was assessed then and surely common sense says you need help , some of that help could be a half hour to let you zip out for some air etc

Opsite is meant to be a postoperative dressing. You can get it from amazon. It’s not cheap, but it is waterproof so you can still shower with it.

The last SW was from the hospital, for whatever reason the one I met on Thursday was from SS.
She had no history.
I am asked at every step about my H's SW ,every time I say he has never had one.

No joined up thinking is there? I do agree that OH is much better at home , we battle through sick episodes here with the help of the carers and don't want J to be admitted , as you know the strange environment doesn't help

Goodness, how accident prone are you all? I'm pleased to report a trip out was accomplished without incident here.

Ann I understand totally your desire to have your husband at home where he feels so much safer and you can care for him but I'm so sad there is no extra help. I don't understand the SW and the financial assessment as a neighbour here has had care for her husband for several days while waiting for an assessment. Different areas I suppose. Once again I'm in awe of your determination.

That's a serious ouchie Galen, hope its more comfortable now. I had some of those dressings after a foot operation, easy to apply and did the job, I had no idea the NHS had been so generous though, I was sent home with 24.

Oh, Kitty, isn't it just horrid when we have to carry on with a commitment (especially one that is supposed to be a treat) with a worry in the back of the head. Our young ones are so important and its very hard not seeing them when all is not well. Wishing Bertie a speedy recovery.

Not much happening here other than me threatening to throw our printer out of the window. The computer says the printer doesn't exist. The printer self diagnosis says it certainly does and has an excellent connection to the computer via the wireless network. It should, the router is between them and they are only about 4 feet apart. Get the same nessage on the ipad so definitely the printer not the computer. I have discovered it will print a page at a time if in between I turn the flipping thing off at the wall and wait a couple of minutes. Do you think printers make good frisbees? I'm about to find out

Oh well, onwards, I've had a break and my moan. Take care all, please no more accidents.

corner my printer will graciously print one page a day so I have to be very selective.

I am assuming that your foot surgery was years ago because nowadays you would almost be begging for Opsite from the hospital and probably told to go to your GP so that it is on his/her bill and not the hospital's.

When I had my knee replaced 5 years ago they wanted me to take in over a month's supply of drugs for a 6 day stay. I reckoned if I was in that long I would not be taking drugs orally I would be on IV drugs. Heaven help me if I am ever admitted to that hospital again.

soop so pleased to hear that you had a lovely lunch out with your friend. You do look summery. You can now spend the evening relaxing, with your leg elevated.

Baggs I had forbidden you to visit your kitchen, I did not think of garden implements. Perhaps I should tell you to stay in bed- you cannot do much harm there except perhaps fall out!

kitty the hospital must get to the bottom of young Bertie's problems because he is spending more time in than out. It is scary for the young fellow, never mind his parents.

Ann did the SW not take account of your age and just perhaps you would struggle being on call 24/7? She is unbelievable. One appears to get very little help nowadays if one can be seen to stand on one's own two feet.

Galen seriously, do you not think that you need to get that nasty accident to your arm looked at? I am aware it is a tad difficult at weekends. Does it need a skin graft?

Ann when my dad was deteriorating the only way to get any action was to stress that he was not safe at home. Hope you get some help soon

Just a quick pop in to update on Bertie.

He had an xray and there is a faint shadow on one lung which may (or may not) be the remains of a chest infection he had before Christmas. He was given ABs at the time but was still not 'right' so DD took him back and was told that it must be a virus. He came for tea (and to pick Persie up!) armed with 2 lots of ABs to be taken for 10 days - that sounds as though it might be a result to me! I hope so.

soop, DH had been an NHS dentist for the whole of our married life until about 13 years ago and then he started doing home visits to housebound people. He was only able to do examinations and dentures at home and then he referred in to the Community dentist or hospital for any other treatment.

I still sleep with him but he is no longer my dentist!

aggie, it has been a recurring theme through DH's work that there is no flaming joined up thinking. It is ridiculous.

Could everyone else, especially galen and baggs JUST SIT DOWN!! I have had my fill of poorly people for today.

I have had a meal from Aldi, just ready for the oven. Courtesy of my S, never again, I would rather spend time cooking.

I’ve done this sort of injury loads of times! My arms look as though I was gladiator or whatever the feminine form is. I know there were such beings but can’t remember the Latin for them. Memory must be going, although, I did only achieve 23% for O level Latin.
That’s why I try to keep opsite in stock.

Not that it helps with the Latin, but it does stop the blood going everywhere.
