I like paragraphs too. And spellings, but I’m just as guilty now and then. I’ve stopped feeling ignored when someone repeats my comments and gets mentioned for the point. But I hate it when I start a thread and someone comes along and drags my thread into another direction. It happens occasionally and I’ve usually failed to get it back on track. So annoying!

jalima, it sounds as if through the window would be the best solution to your scanner problem!

GillT- I blame all my grammar and punctuation inaccuracies on predictive text. I couldn’t even spell Nina correctly earlier!

Rudeness/aggressiveness/ belittling posts that are claimed to be "straight talking; the truth" etc etc!!! One can be straight talking and five honest opinions that might be hard for the OP, without any of the above! Apart from anything else, now of the above help to get a point over!!

I agree with Jane10. Some people have no flipping awareness at all.

It really does depend on my mood, some days my tolerance levels are lower than others. I must admit to getting slightly frustrated when posters say they can’t comment ‘without knowing both sides’. The very nature of the forum means that we will only ever hear the OP’s point of view. I can understand urging the OP to consider the other side, but declining to offer advice for that reason seems such a pointless comment.

I'm cross just reading this thread!! From a couple of responses I find that apparently I'm stuck in a victorian time warp and rely on men. That's absolute b******s! I'm fed up with GNers who don't think how their posts make others feel.

Elrel some days I could pick a fight in an empty room, so you are entirely excused!

I don't mind poor grammar or mis-spellings. Some folk have not had the benefit of a good education and that is not their fault - as long as I can understand it then that is fine by me.

anno please could you pop round and set my scanner up please? It's been set up by a friend who is 'an expert', went again, then I did it and it was fine, now the printer is working but the scanner isn't!! DH doesn't have a clue what's wrong. I am ready to throw it through the window.

I agree about the lack of paragraphs - sometimes a new poster writes an extremely long OP and I lose the will to read it part way through.

I get irritated too by lengthy posts without the use of paragraphs. Don't wish to be a grammar nazi, but sometimes poor punctuation and ambiguous meanings get me exhausted trying to work out what the OP is saying, I also loathe the word 'hubby' and I am afraid that I generally ignore the post if that word is used. . Generally feel a bit saddened by the number of women on GN who live their lives for/through/only for their grandchildren. Apologies if I offend anyone, that is not my intent, just an observation.

I'm not feeling irritated at all today! Some days I could pick an online fight with loads of people but maybe not on Gransnet!

Well really it just shows that we gransnetters are all different ages,think,act,are different,come from all sorts of backgrounds e.g education,money,opinions are different,due to lots of reasons and we all need to tolerate each other,that's what friends do

I agree - paragraphs would help enormously on long posts. As would the odd full stop, lol! I am amazed at people who just write a great long screed, with no punctuation whatsoever, and no paragraphs. How they expect anyone to be able to follow it I'll never know. It makes me feel out of breath

It would help me enormously if people writing a long post were to use paragraphs - as someone above has said - I am just getting that in, so as not to cause annoyance!

I a and Bluebelle I thought that only happened to me, so glad I’m in good company.

It also irritates me when some posters try and turn everything into an argument about Brexit. I try to avoid those very cross discussions .
