DH and I were at our favourite local pub with our nearest and dearest celebrating our last night of freedom. Actually, we thought freedom would begin the day after our wedding but that's how it was in those carefree days.

Fast forward fifty years and many of those we loved are no longer with us. To be expected of course but carefree??

Yesterday, a burst main just outside the village led to 36 hours without water. The road was closed so we couldn't get to the village to stock up on bottled water but it would have been a wasted journey because they'd sold out!

Tesco phoned to say they'd been turned back but would attempt another delivery this evening. I started worrying about the large order they were carrying because we have a houseful for Easter not to mention our supper and by this time we were sucking ice cubes!!

Amazon then phoned to say they couldn't deliver a package. It was only jokey pressie for DH to open in the morning but....sad

DD then phoned to say they wouldn't let her past the road block and she would have to turn back and do another hour's driving to get home by another route. angry

DGS needed to get to his weekend job at the local pub so I pleaded with the jobsworths at the barrier to let us through as it was our only access and what if we needed an ambulance??? It worked!

The water finally came back on albeit a horrible yellow colour, Tesco delivered in time for DD to stagger in and request a large G&T grin and DGS will get a lift home with a friend.

It has taken me a couple of hours and a few wine to unwind. grin

We're not celebrating today but having a Chinese with DD1 and DGSs tonight. Saving ourselves for lunch on Sunday (11 of us squashed around the table) and a big lunch at our local pub next Saturday where we will get together with the rest of the family, the Best Man and Chief Bridesmaid whom we haven't seen for years! With everyone spread all over the place and holiday job commitments for the students we're trying to work it so we can get to see everyone.

DH is clutching my elbow in the photo because I was teetering over the edge of a step just as the smallest bridesmaid trod on my dress!! grin
