Why is the only thing I 'win' .................... .................... ..

Oh dear, I have only ever been called once, and that was over 40 years ago. My dh never, so you are clearly lucky in something. So many times, !

I also never win ragffles or Ernie but neither have I ever been called for jury service thankfully

I thought I’d got away with it but was called for the first time 2 years ago I was 67.

My BiL has the same problem. He's been called three times but I have never had to do it.

I quite enjoyed it, which was just as well because the case went on for 3 months.

I`m lucky, I`ve never been called, won`t be now I`m nearly 75.

I also have never been called- a good job because I would be having a snooze during it and would be thrown out.

DH was called 60 odd years ago, luckily I never have been, too old now.

Now I can't even work out how old he is, not 60 years, more like 50, I think. Our heatings packed up, so the old brain cells are on a go slow.

We had a judge who had a kind of Les Dawson humour, and he often had us laughing up our sleeves. Even the accused.

I was exempt when working because it was highly likely that the people in the dock would be known to me!

But since retirement I have never been called. And I guess if I were I would be exempt as a carer; even though I might find it interesting.

It wouldn't be quite so bad if the court was easy to get to. If I drive it will be rush hour and parking is a nightmare. If I go by train I shall have to leave home about 7am and won't be back until gone 5pm. Oh joy, oh rapture!
The last time I was called I was not chosen to be part of the jury and sat for 3 days bored out of my mind - I am not used to enforced idleness and yes I did take things to do !

Never in my 50 odd years of being eligible have I been called yet my son, aged 18 years and 3 months was called to serve on jury servivice for a coroners case.

I win something on the premium bonds nearly every month and I have won lots of interesting competitions but never been called for jury service DH has not been called either. I remember my father doing jury service 50 years ago and it must have been a harrowing case because he looked quite drawn when he returned home each night.

Does anyone know how old you would have to be to be exempt? Hate the idea of it would be hopeless t it!

I used to work for the probation service until I retired and spent some of my many working years as a court officer both in magistrates and crown court. There was one time when I was called but we were exempt from jury service as I could have had access to previous records of the accused. Now I would love to be called having a good knowledge of how the court system works. It would be great to see the judges from the other side of the court room and experience the system from another angle.

Havinfvsaidnthatbinwoukd like to be called. I guess it would depend on that the trial was. Financial fraud cases are to me very tedious and full of minute details and could be hard to follow. Some of the video evidence and descriptions of violence can be horrendous as well. I used to despair about just how awful human beings could be to each other.

Was called once and waited all morning. Eventually the judge called us all in and apologised for keeping us for so long in the dark. He said it was a custody case as the two sides had been trying to come to arrangement and had finally decided to be amicable about it and settle out of court (he said “pity they hadn’t done this before this point” and then made the solicitors for both sides apologise for “wasting” our time. We were given a lunch voucher (the least “we can offer these good people”) and my travel expenses and sent on our merry way.

Now work for an organisation where I can’t be called for jury service - though think it would be interesting if it were something like a murder trial etc

My DH has done jury service and really enjoyed it. Often talks about it still, years later. I'd love to have a go, never been called. Once won a horrid egg and bacon breakfast (uncooked) with a thick piece of bacon and a dry mushroom. Most of it went in the bin.

I was exempt for a while due to previous employment, would find it quite interesting but have never been called. DH has just been called for second time but had to cancel and rebook due to ill health. `He has already been told his parking charges won't be reimbursed in full as there is a cheaper car park at some distance from the court. Public transport would involve a 2 mile walk to bus stop. DH can't walk long distances therefore he's going to be out of pocket, doesn't seem right somehow.

Jury service was something I always wanted to do. I was called last month. Unfortunately I’m no longer eligible as I’m 76. Sod’s law I suppose!
